Hey lovely people! We’re super excited to announce KakaIru Mini Bang 2021, a flash fandom event for all fans of the pairing to come together and share content they’ve created. It will run for 5 days, from June 7th-11th 2021.
There are two set themes, which are Slice of Life, and Gods/Monsters, and are open to your own interpretation - we won’t be scrutinizing your works, so feel free to interpret the theme(s) in your own way.
This is an open event, and you do not need to sign up to participate.
Content You Can Make:
We accept original content in the form of fanfic, fanart, fanvids, gifs/animations, cosplays, physical crafts, mood boards and podfics (please make sure you obtain permission from the author if the fic is not yours). Your content must be centred around the pairing of KakaIru and tie into one of the themes.
We’re so excited to see all of the wonderful things you create! Please read below the cut for rules, posting guidelines and FAQs.
Rules:
1) This is a ship-specific event and end-game must be KakaIru. Other background pairings and poly relationships are allowed.
2) Only original and new, unseen/unposted content is accepted, no reposts or recycled works please.
3) Triggering, sensitive and N.S.F.W content must be appropriately tagged, no exceptions. Works that are not tagged with TW/CW will not be reblogged or retweeted.
4) Content for this event must not be posted before the starting date, which is June 7th 2021.
5) Respect content creators that participate in this event. Notes or tags that include rude comments, direct or indirect threats, character or ship hate will not be tolerated. Bullies will be blocked by the event blog and reported as necessary. If you don’t like what you see, please exercise some restraint and use the tools available to you to hide the content.
How to post your work on Tumblr:
1) List the theme you are using in your post.
2) Tag @kakairu-mini-bang somewhere in the body of your post and tag #KakairuMiniBang2021 within the first five tags.
3) Apply a read-more cut to lengthy posts. Posts that contain sensitive/trigger warning content, erotica, or N.S.F.W must be clearly labelled and contained beneath the read-more cut.
*N.S.F.W artists: Keep Tumblr’s constraints in mind when sharing your work. It is recommended to use another site (such as Pillowfort, Twitter, etc) as an image host and share the link within your Tumblr post, or crop/censor the image and link off site to the uncensored version.

4) For fanworks that are shared on Tumblr via an AO3/FF link: please also include the summary, rating of the piece, and any TW/CW in the body of your post. If sharing an excerpt that contains sensitive content, please put it beneath a read-more cut.

How to post your work on Twitter:
1) List the theme you are using in your tweet.
2) Tag @/kkir_mini_bang and/or use the tag #KakairuMiniBang
3) Tweets that contain sensitive/trigger warning content, erotica, or NSFW must be clearly labelled. For NSFW artwork, we recommend putting it in a second tweet, linked underneath the first tagging us and any warnings.
How to participate on another platform:
Post your work to whichever platform you’re using, and then send it to us by using our submit post form. Please do make sure to list the prompt you’re using and any content warnings that might apply.
Posting to AO3:
An AO3 collection has been created - click here. Please use the tag Kakairu Mini Bang 2021, and make sure your works are all tagged appropriately with any trigger warnings/content warnings that may apply.
Sharing Your Works:
We will be reblogging/retweeting any works posted to Tumblr and Twitter, and posting any works submitted via our submit post form. We’ll also create a masterpost at the end of the event that contains all works posted in the AO3 collection, Twitter, Tumblr, and via the submit post form. FAQ:
- Is the theme mandatory, or can I write something else if I am struggling to come up with an idea?
The theme is mandatory. We have included two themes for this event so that if one of them doesn’t inspire you, there is a second option. If you’re having any problems coming up with ideas, you can always drop us a message on here, and we’ll happily help brainstorm with you or provide resources.
- Do we have to include both themes?
No. It’s up to you whether you do one or include both. If you wish, you can create a piece for each theme, create a piece including both themes, or just do one.
- Is there a minimum word count for fanfics?
Yes. The minimum is 100 words.
- Are late entries accepted?
Yes. Late entries will be accepted for up to 2 weeks after the event. Late entry deadline is 25th June 2021.
- Are there set daily prompts?
No, but there are 2 themes for the event which are Slice of Life, and Gods & Monsters.
- Are background pairings allowed?
Yes, as long as they comply with the rules of this event.
- Can we post N.S.F.W content?
Absolutely. But, please make sure that your work is properly tagged with any trigger warnings/content warnings, and that the work itself is posted below a read-more cut if uploaded directly to Tumblr. Please read point 2 in the guidelines on posting for further details on posting N.S.F.W artwork.
- Can I enter an older art/fic for the event, or rewrite a previously posted fic for the event?
Sorry but no, we do not allow for art/fic created and posted prior to the event start to be entered, nor do we allow for previously posted works to be recycled and edited to fit the event. It would be unfair on others creating new content. If you have a current series running, and create a new fic within that series for the event, that would be okay.

First, we'd like to apologise for the radio silence after the event end and not yet having the masterpost ready. It would be easy to offer various excuses, but we want to be completely honest with you-- we took some time to think and get advice from other mods in the event community with regards to the future of this event.
While we absolutely love and appreciate those who have participated in the mini bang, we experienced a noticeably smaller level of interest and participation in this year's event in comparison to participation in the past. This may be due to our event now coinciding with timelines of other independent KakaIru events, leading to a saturation of events in a smaller timeframe and, ultimately, participant burnout for this event.
Though we enjoy this event (and love KakaIru) and want to continue to offer it, running events like these takes a lot of time and effort for the mod team to organise and implement. Our hope is to be able to engage as many participants as possible to make it feasible to continue, but we also need your input/feedback on this event’s future.

Summary:
If you were to ask Iruka what scared him the most he wouldn’t say revenants, or demons, or goblins and ghouls. He wouldn’t even say it was the dark itself, and what the imagination could twist it into. No, what scared Iruka the most had a very real face, one that said it was his family but then locked him away like a dirty secret. He was absolutely desperate to get away from that face that was as unmoving as a Noh mask, but just as uncannily emotive and terrifying.
So when Iruka claws his way to freedom and runs for his life, the tragic irony of him being discovered by a literal monster of legend isn’t lost on him. It was almost funny, how he escaped one monster to wind up found by another, but the joke fell flat when he lost consciousness in the oddly gently grasp of the beast, and woke up alive and well in an unfamiliar but welcoming room.
Iruka would come to learn that, sometimes, it’s the actual monsters in the world that are the safest to be around, while those who hide amongst us humans were the ones to be truly feared.
And sometimes…sometimes falling in love didn’t always start with seeing a beautiful face, or hearing a charming laugh.
Sometimes it began with the sound of rattling bones.

the @kakairu-mini-bang is ending today and i wish i could have done all five days but im glad i at least got this in!!!
this is a zelda breath of the wild au for the prompt gods/monsters, more about this au under the cut :)))
our faves have just woken up a hinox and that's the monster they're running away from rn
hiruzen is the king of hyrule and iruka's one of the princes bc hiruzen took him in after ruka's parents (close friends and advisors to the king) died
(his coat design is based off of the king's coat in botw but the belt and shirt and the red insides of the coat are after zelda)
iruka's really into research and discovery for the kingdom, and kakashi's his chosen bodyguard, so they go out into the field a lot to understand the wild life
kakashi's wearing the stealth armour, which seems to be based off the sheikah (i almost designed him after impa but the stealth armour was just so perfect for kakashi-the-ninja, esp with the mask ahh)
i didnt want to add the text but theyre yelling at each other here lol; iruka's calling kakashi a dumbass for waking up the hinox and kakashi's yelling back that it was iruka's idea to throw the bomb and try out the exploding tags anyways, and then finishes off by yelling that iruka's dad's gonna murder him haha
(for all those who havent played botw, a hinox is so large you can climb them like huge boulders, and the goal is usually to steal the round ball on their necklaces because the ball is part of a key to Get Stuff; when you encounter them theyre usually napping, so if you play your cards right, you can commit theft without getting chased. iruka and kakashi did not play their cards right.)
anyways theyre yelling at each other about how dumb the other is but the truth is that theyre both stupid idiots who could stand to have more self-preservation when facing monsters LOL
the second prompt for the mini bang was "slice of life" and in an ideal world, i would have drawn a second piece of kakashi and iruka standing over a pot in a field, cooking their dinner. i was imagining kakashi's weapons down by a tree, and iruka hugging kashi from behind, chin over kashi's shoulder as they both watch the food cooking, and theyre smiling like they were quietly joking around. might even include a dog by kashi's knees, if it was a cooking pot at a stable. :')))
anyways please imagine prince iruka and champion kakashi traveling around the map taking pictures and doing science and defeating monsters and solving puzzles and finding treasure and meeting all sorts of awesome people and bantering/flirting the entire time thank u

It began with the sound of rattling bones, and would end with the rustling of the lion’s mane.
After Iruka is saved by the mysterious family that lives within the Inari shrine he’d found sanctuary in, Iruka slowly but surely adjusts to this new life he’d been given, but is haunted by visions of a terrifyingly gentle Gashadokuro when he sleeps or daydreams. Hatake Kakashi, who is a family friend of the Uzumaki’s and frequents the shrine, similarly haunts Iruka’s waking hours.
As the years pass, and Iruka’s first step into adulthood nears, he finds his heart reaching out for both man and beast. But every time he reaches out, those pale white bones, that soft silver hair, step out of reach, and Iruka knows it’s out of hesitation and fear. The fear of a monster who is scared to love and be loved.
He’s far from deterred, however, as he takes on the mantle of a lion and gives chase towards the man, the monster, that has captured his heart.
