Technology Enabled Educator
Achieved!
Summary of Unit 4 Session 7
Congratulations! I have now completed the course and am indeed a Tech-Enabled Educator.
I have enjoyed the course and it has inspired my practice.
It has indeed! I cannot wait to start redesigning and creating my courses. I now have closed groups on Facebook for my learners to communicate with each other. We have lots of Padlets, with links from Moodle. It has been difficult, mainly finding the time to learn, create and evaluate, but I feel I can apply a lot of my learning. I have my favourites. I have also enjoyed this part and seem to have acquired many followers.
4.6 Assignment: Pay it Forward
I created a video using Jing and Screecast to help a colleague start her first padlet. I had a few problems with recording the sound, but otherwise after a few attempts I had a video that she could watch, pause and replay. I learnt a lot in making this. The software is great now to tackle the hardware!
Moodle, Padlet, Sway
I managed to record this podcast using One Note with a simple drag and drop into SoundCloud.

4.4 Assignment: Resource Production and Beta Testing
A lot of interesting discussions and feedback. Great to have such helpful colleagues. Pity we could not meet up to discuss and plan more often.
4.5 Assignment: Using Learning Technology
I got a bit confused with this task. At one point the criteria mentions resource and then session. I used my session created in Blendspace and delivered it to my maths learners and a fellow maths tutor. Feedback was good. My colleague mentioned that I had incorporated a lot into the session, that there was perhaps enough for a few sessions. I am not so sure. My lessons are two hours. I teach level one and level two students. They should be prepared to be pushed. Using Blendspace has the benefit that the learners can catch up from at home in their own time. they can revisit as revision. I set up a closed group in Facebook for learners to share their thoughts, findings and to discuss. I am not sure how it will develop. Hopefully good!
Evaluation 3
I have learnt not to ignore the cat. He has the power to turn off the computer!
He did! I lost my assignment because I had not saved it and therefore had to rewrite it!
3.6 Assignment: Strategies to Facilitate and Motivate Learners
I have built into my lesson plan a demo session using the interactive whiteboard on how to access the assistive technology tools. One being the magnifying glass. Windows Ease of Access has a magnifier which can be used with ease. I have also suggested that learners bring their own device to motivate learning.
3.4 Summary of Unit 3 Session 4
In this session you:
· Took part in a video chat about online pedagogies
· Viewed an infographic : Anatomy of a session plan
· Completed a session planning activity
We were unable to have a video chat, but we did exchange comments on each others session plan via the discussion board, Tumblr and Dropbox. I received some very good feedback and suggestions that I will consider and build into my session.

4.3 Assignment: Assessment Methods
Produce a brief evaluation report on its success considering:
· Validity
· Accessibility
· Impact on learning
· Integration with your organisations systems and infrastructure
· Ease of capturing and recording
· Implications for moderation or EV
· Appropriateness for your learners
I evaluated the initial assessment process used in placing learners into a class. The same assessment is used with the apprentices. It is a good assessment, easy to navigate and download results. There are only a few issues that I could highlight; it does not always work on a smart phone - depends on the make! Again designed for one phone! The same applies to tablets. The digital literacy also comes into the equation!
4.2 Assignment: Designing Your Own Resource
Task
1. Using appropriate storyboarding or digital planning tools design a session for blended or online delivery that meets the outcomes specified in the session plan you created for unit 3.
2. Save your storyboard as a pdf, word doc or photograph it as appropriate so that you can upload the finished plan for assessment.
3. Produce an accompanying guide that explains how it will benefit the learner and shows consideration for safeguarding and the learners’ needs. Include guidance on the context, infrastructure and learning space requirements.
4. Submit your guide as a word doc or pdf.
I created my lesson for bended learning using ‘blendspace’ by TES. It can be very easy to use and create once resources have been uploaded to TES. There is an option of using other teachers’ resources that they have uploaded. Otherwise each slide has to be as a fresh document/slide. It does not allow copy and pasting or uploading from Dropbox or ones PC.
I would have preferred to use Google Classroom, but this needs to be registered by my establishment and I am not sure if this is possible due to the security installed on the PCs at work. We previously could not access Dropbox because of this.
This is my first attempt at a storybody lesson and took me four hours to complete. This is not something I would like to do for every lesson each week, but I suppose once you have created these they can be reused.
Make learning fun with TES Teach with Blendspace, the free and easy edtech tool teachers love for lessons, projects, presentations, and more. No planning needed.
4.2.2 Assignment: Designing Your Own Resource
1 Using appropriate story-boarding or digital planning tools design a session for blended or online delivery that meets the outcomes specified in the session plan you created for unit 3.

4.1 Comparing eLearning Packages and Reviewing Planning and Storyboarding Tools
This session showed some interesting apps and software options for e-learning delivery. I am familiar with a few of them but have not yet incorporated them into my teaching.
I like Prezi and can see this working in my blended learning sessions and my online courses.
Powtoon could also be interesting for my online courses. It is compatible with platforms and can easily be built into courses.
I am planning more flipped learning this academic year. I am looking forward to my learners coming to my sessions prepared. I am not sure if all of my classes will come prepared but it is worth a try.
I was glad to see an example of a maths lesson, as most videos are English teaching related.
I am not keen on the expectations that one has an iPhone and/or an iPad. It is unfortunate that most apps are created for these devices, which can cause issues with other brands.
I like the prepopulated storyboards and can see myself using these to create my own.
Unit 3 reflections
I like the idea of collaboration, although I would prefer face to face as there are always others questions to ask, or other suggestions to give as this is automatic in a discussion or conversation. This unit has taken me well over the allocated hours to complete, but I do feel that I have learnt and am looking forward to applying my learning.
3.7.2 Assignment: Peer Assessment
I submitted my session plan via drop box and Tumblr for peer review. I also submitted it as requested on the course page, although I am not quite sure where or how it can be peer reviewed. I received feedback from a peer who is following me on Tumblr. Constructive feedback that I am taking into consideration and am extremely grateful for. Collaboration, team working, is a valuable way to expand on one’s knowledge and apply those suggestions into planning the lessons.
Previously we used to meet in a centre to plan and exchange feedback and tips, these days with the advances in technology, it is much easier to get instant feedback. I have used drop box, https://www.dropbox.com/s/a47evs1ivmmjzl9/Lesson%209%20fractions.docx?dl=0
Possibly because I am most familiar with drop box and it is installed on all of my devices. I do not have an iPhone or iPad and not all apps work on my phone. I could use Google Docs as this can be accessed from work without any issues.
Online collaboration has its advantages in means of feedback and time, although it may not be immediate feedback as in a meeting, there are the advantages of accessibility and therefore the advantage of receiving feedback from a colleague who is based at the other end of the county.
As is the case with one of my peer assessments. I have received some very positive feedback on my choices of technology that I am using with my students along with some questions ‘Have I tried, thought of this?’ and some suggestions to try. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wy5oq1fmy2kucca/mftutor.docx?dl=0
Reflecting on one peer review, I have amended my lesson plan. https://www.dropbox.com/s/htiohqirm0uiqfq/Lesson%209%20fractions%20amended.docx?dl=0
Lino it was a recommendation. I have looked at this tool. I find that Padlet is very similar, which I prefer. It is a versatile, easy to use tool. You can type, record, and add a hyperlink, photo or document. It can be shared, students can add to it. The posts can be moved around. It can be used as flipped learning or as a blog for reflections. I have embedded some walls into my online course for learners to add to.
