Imagine you just lost your mom and inherited a mess of a war you're losing and you're all go go go trying to save your people and everyone's second guessing you and you're second guessing yourself and snapping at everyone you love because you're grieving and in over your head and everything you care about is falling apart and the first second you get to just sit and think about all the ways you screwed up is when you're a prisoner on an alien spaceship millions of miles from home where you're worried about your planet and your friends and you can't even apologize to those friends since the last time you saw them you yelled at them and they probably hate you forever now.

Probably wouldn't be a great time.

Chapter 1: You’re Cold and I Burn

(I feel like Raya deserves several apologies so I made this little fic. Also I’m a firm believer of angry Raya rights and bitter Benja rights. I really don’t think either of them really just got over everything so quickly. Plus some Benja lore I’m making up to explain why things went down the way they did. And for once in my life it’s a fic that’s canon compliant! Get ready for angst today!)

Life is great. 

Raya’s father has finally come back from stone and they reunited once more. In fact, he’s standing a mere ten feet away from her mingling with a couple diplomats from the other lands. Only a three months since the Druun were destroyed for good and already there’s so much progress. 

Life is great.

The dragons have returned too. That was something Raya never anticipated to happen, even if she did manage to bring her ba back. Seeing the stunning celestial beings dance along the horizon has been making Raya’s little dragon nerd heart flutter in excitement. 

Life is great. 

There’s also the nice addition of her and Namaari being on uh, she’s not exactly sure of the right term, but it’s not murderous terms so that’s an improvement. They shared a couple fruits, they smile at each other, so their relationship is certainly going in the right direction.  

It’s great. This is what Raya wanted, what she’s been wanting for the past six years. Yet somehow, she doesn’t feel great.

If you have an unfinished fanfic (even a partially posted WIP) you can sign up to finish it for the WIP Big Bang and artists can sign up to illustrate your fic!

If you have an unfinished work of art, you can sign up for the WIP Reverse Big Bang and writers can sign up to write a fanfic to go with your art.

Details and full rules for both events are here. Sign ups are open now (and you can always sign up now and then drop out later if you realize you won't have time.)

Worst case, you get a push to finally finish that fanfic or fanart in time for the ship week. Best case, you finish your thing AND get an extra fic or art for your troubles, making more content for everyone!
