When it's all over.

You grieve. You wonder why it happened. To you- in that way, at that time. You wonder what you could have done better. You wonder why you didn't remember that zinger of a retort. You remember the great times, then the sadness sets in. The loneliness. The fact that the footsteps you make are yours and yours alone. No-one else, but you. It's scary.
