If you want a smooth auction that you do not have to constantly hover over.

First, make it a rule that a bid doesn’t count if you fail to ping the last valid bidder(s).

Second, add that “false pings” will also not count as a valid bid. You can see a false ping vs. a real ping by hovering over the username’s. At the bottom-left of the webpage, a small display box will show you what the link address is.

In case you don’t understand how a “fake ping” could be made. Someone can type @ followed by a hyperlink and it will not actually ping the user. Like so: @[url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=1]Earthshaker[/url] which displays as @Earthshaker

I’ve lost a few auctions due to these kind of tactics and it’s honestly bullshit the amount of assholery people display over auctions. To add, a snipe guard does not only activate once. If it did then that would defeat the purpose of the snipe guard. If someone bids before the end of the auction and an hour snipe guard is activated, then someone else bids just before the end of that hour… THEN ANOTHER SNIPE GUARD IS ACTIVATED. If it didn’t happen that way then someone would have just won via sniping. If you do not understand this, then dont bother using a snipe guard.

I have actually disqualified someone due to not pinging me when outbidding another person because it fucked up the whole auction and I work I don't have time to babysit a thread.

The rules were clearly stated and the snipe guard was active and I'm pretty sure they tried the false ping shit now that I know what it is.

They complained and cried unfairness and I ended up on anonrising for it. I still don't give a shit. Follow the fucking rules and ping the auctioneer and the person you're outbidding.
