   soft   chuckled   parted   his   lips ,   silver - stained    eyes   turning   to   steal   a   look   at   poppy ,   her   skin   glowing   under   the   golden   gleam   of  snow - obscured   lanterns .      her   skin     so   warm   and   soft ,   bathed   in   golden   streaks   of   light   breaking   through   the   crystallised   particles   of   snow   capes   and   icicles  adorning   the   streetlights .    it   was   enough   to   make   zach   smile ,   melt   against   her   as   a   chaste   kiss   landed   ‘pon   poppy’s   forehead .        ❝     we   should   get   some  mulled   wine .    the   lack   of   alcohol   here   is   astonishing -   back   home ,      we’d   come   by   at   least   five   drunk   slavs   trying   to   sell   us   shitty   paper   trinkets .    ❞

*   𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍      𝐒𝐇𝐄      𝐈𝐒      𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇      𝐇𝐈𝐌,      she   feels   at   peace.   the   happiest   anyone   has   ever   seen   her.   when   he   leaves ?   it’s   almost   like   𝓁𝑜𝓈𝒾𝓃𝑔   a   part   of   herself.   oh,   how   she   counts   the   days,   yearning   for   his   return.   it   had   only   been   a   𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌,   but   it   felt   like   a   month.   the   moment   dark   eyes   find   him,   she’s   bolting   up   from   her   seat   &   running   to   him.   there   was   not   a   𝓂𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉   to   waste.   jumping   up   into   zach’s   arms,   her   face   finds   its   place   against   his   neck,   legs   wrapping   around   him.    ❝      my   god  …  i’ve   been   so   𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒚,      ❞   words   murmured   against   his   skin,   fingers   coming   up   to   tangle   in   long   locks   of   hair.   while   she   has   other   friends,   there   is   none   that   quite   compare   to   him.   he   is   her   person.   their   dependency   on   each   other,   to   some,   𝓂𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉   seem   strange  …  but   this   is   how   they’ve   always   been.   attached   at   the   hip   &   reliant   on   the   other.   pulling   back,   small   hands   cup   his   face   as   she   examines   his   features.   ❝      are   you   okay ?   have   you   been   eating ?   are   you   hungry ?   do   you   need   to   sleep ?      ❞   out   comes   a   million   questions   of   pure   concern.   thumbs   brush   along   his   cheeks,   lips   pressing   to   his   forehead.    ❝      evergreen  …  i   missed   you   something   𝒶𝓌𝒻𝓊𝓁.      ❞

the   week   was   expanding   into   what   seemed   like   forever .     even   these   seven   days   without   his   lover’s   presence   seemed   to   stretched   out   intervals   of   painful   loneliness .    now ,    that   was   a   novelty   he   wasn’t   quite   used   to   yet .     isolation   was   something   he   was   wrapped   tightly   in  ;    wearing   his   solitary   nature   as   armour ,   protection   against   the   outer   world   and   its   cruelty .     EASIER    THAT   WAY .     he   told   himself   that   until   him   and   poppy   grew   closer   and   zach   allowed   her   in ,   piece   by   piece   uncovering   his   heart   until   it   lay  before   here   raw   and   bloody ,   naked   in   all   its   tender   glory .
