Unit 6 Final Major Project - Evaluation
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Final Pieces:
Here is a selection of drawings I have done for my end of year show, I have also experimented with printing some of them on coloured and mid-tone paper.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - mid-tone paper:
Experimenting with different shades and textures of mid-tone and coloured paper.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - 2nd Presentation Notes

Unit 6 Final Major Project - Notes:
Throughout this unit i have kept a journal to take notes in each week so that i keep up to date with my work and to set myself a goal of needs to be done each week.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Text:
I decided to add text to my final drawings as it gives context to my work such as the theme, title and the date I drew them. I started by experimenting with fonts in Photoshop. My favorite was the third font I tried, but I don’t think any of them went very well with my drawings. I then typed all of the text for my drawings in the third font, printed the page and traced it using a fine liner pen. I then scanned the hand drawn font onto the computer and put it with my drawings to see what it looked like. I am happy with this outcome as i think the font works well with my illustrations.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Inverted Drawings:
I scanned some of my drawings onto the computer and opened them in Photoshop. I then inverted the images to see what they would look like with white lines on black paper. I think this worked well, especially for the wood burner drawing. However, I do not think I will use this for the end of year show as the dark colour doesn't go with the rest of my drawings.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Drawing:
For this drawing I experimented with composition. The positioning was inspired by Lucinda Rogers work in the cookbook she illustrated: no place like home. I drew an old British Griller that we have as an ornament in our greenhouse. I liked drawing this as its quite intricate and detailed. I also like the decisions I made with adding thick lines.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - First Presentation
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Drawing:
I drew a simple line drawing of the windowsill in the communal kitchen using fine liner pens on A3 paper. I then used thicker pens to break up the drawing and make the cluttered windowsill easier to look at and less jumbled. Although I am happy with the outcome I think it would look better on blue paper as it gives the implication of a blue sky through the window.
I scanned my line drawing of the windowsill onto the computer and used illustrator to add rough brushstrokes of colour to certain elements of the image drawing. I like the outcome as it helps your to distinguish certain parts of the drawing and the colour captures the viewers attentions, however some of the colour washes over the lines.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Drawing:
I took a photo of duvet’s airing on the washing line outside my house as I thought it would make a good drawing. When I take photos of objects or places i want to draw, it is usually because I can see in my mind what the outcome will look like and how I want to draw it. However sometimes once it has been drawn I am able to see what works and what needs improvement. With this drawing it took three tries to get it to look how I wanted it to. The first drawing I thought the building next to the shed looked to simple and that the wood pile on the other side of the shed was to low down. So i drew it again, but the bricks made the drawing to busy. The third time I drew it I added some bricks to the building but not to many as to over complicate it. I am happy with the final outcome of this drawing
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Drawing:
As my theme is called My Visual Diary, i have started by taking photos of whats around me and drawing it using thick and thin fine liners. This is a photo of the wood burner at my friends house where i spend a lot of my time.
Unit 6 Final Major Project - Book References:
Here is a collection of books i have used for research during this unit. the books i used ranged from artist to technical research and were useful in the development of my work.

Unit 6 Final Major project - Lucinda Rogers Exhibition: On Gentrification:
i went to the house of illustration in London to see the Lucinda Rogers exhibition. i found it really interesting and i enjoyed seeing her work in person and seeing the way she works and responds to a brief.
