Interviewer: “Have you ever been to Singapore?” Matty: “Yes, I have! I got kidnapped in Singapore for a day!” Interviewer: “Really?” Matty: “Yeah! My dad was working in Australia and my mum was on the way to Australia, and she had to stop over in Singapore. And, her friend was staying there, and she said, ‘Well, let’s get out of the city, come and stay where I live,’ which is about two hours outside in a kind of small town. She took me there, and she was shopping with me. She must have turned around for a second, and the woman who owned the shop became besotted with this little white baby that was just wandering around, not knowing what was going on. So, she picked me up, and she said, ‘Oh, I’ve got to take you to my friends!’ So, all of these shops were all owned by the same people, but my mum didn’t know that. So, she was taking me down to every single shop, showing me to her friends. I was gone for about an hour! My mum had gotten the police down, and I was just walking around, getting dressed up in all these kind of clothes and stuff. But, yeah, I’ve definitely been there, ‘cause I got nicked for about an hour. I’m looking forward to going back, hopefully the same thing won’t happen.”
