My friend Malin Henriksson is a doktorn now and I made the cover illustration for her book Att resa rätt är stort, att resa fritt är större. Published by Linköpings University, 2014.
I've started up a print shop over at Art Rebels: http://artrebels.com/shop/stores/karinsoderquist Big thanks to Scott for the invite!
A few years ago, in 2009, my friend Magda Thorburn (then Szostak) arranged an exhibition called 'Halfway' at The Bunhouse in Peckham. For my piece I created a series of drawings inspired by S.A Andrées ill-fated polar expidition in 1887.
Bea Uusma recently came out with a book about the Andrée expedition called Expeditionen: en kärkelshistoria (The Expedition: a love story). It's one of the most interesting things I've read in a long time. You know when a book is so good that you have to go back and re-read the passage you've just read, just to make sure you didn't miss anything? That's what it's like. After finishing the book I decided I needed to redo my portrait of Andrée, in the style I'm working now. This is what I ended up with. You find my original drawing here: http://karinsoderquist.blogspot.se/2009/09/halfway-to-north-pole.html
My work was featured on the wonderful Yen Magazines website in September (but I didn't find out until this week): http://www.yenmag.net/beauty-fashion/fashion/karin-soderquists-freak-salad/

Experiment with ink, marker pen, paper-cuts and digital colouring.
Today I've reactivated my Society6 account and added some new products. There's prints and phone cases and other nice things to come! http://society6.com/karinsoderquist
2014 is off to a great start! I'm very pleased and super excited to announce that I'm now being represented by the brilliant Agent Azur in the German speaking area.

Created for, but never used in, the 'It's a Marshmallow World' exhibition. We're moving to our new flat tomorrow, most of the boxes are packed but there's still somethings left to pack. Can't wait to get it over with, get settled in and read some of the many books I received for Christmas.
I should be packing 'cus I'm moving to a new flat in the end of December. But instead I made this. A quick illustration based on a drawing I did this summer while I was in Vienna.
Marie and Pierre Curie for the latest issue of Kontent Magasin.
My work for the 'It's A Marshmallow World' exhibition.
This Sunday the 'It's A Marshmallow World' show opened. Loads of people turned up, it was packed from beginning 'til end. Tikkle Me, with the help from Maria Lundström on keyboard and violin, did their first ever acoustic gig, which was amazing. If you don't know their music you really need to check them out: Tikkle Me.
BIG thanks to everyone who turned up to see the show, to all the illustrators who contributed amazing work and to Tikkle me for the beautiful performance!
I have some work in this exhibition opening on Friday: https://www.facebook.com/events/165649916978380/?ref_dashboard_filter=calendar&source=1
