so back in october we bought pumpkins to carve and decorate for halloween which i assumed we were going to do together. they ended up carving their pumpkin WAY earlier than halloween ended up being and i didnt know they were going to until i already saw it. so i was sad because we didnt do it together, AND i was like. uhhhh. hey you carved that REALLY early. and they were like i wanted it ready for halloween! and i was like so usually when you carve a pumpkin 6ou do it the night before or the day of since they get gross and they were like ahh it wont get that gross they never get gross! qnd i was like right because most people put them outside during october. which is cold? but our apartment is warm. and they were like itll be fiiiiiine. it began to rot before halloween. by halloween it had a billion fruit flies and was clearly rotting. i was taking my pumpkins out to put outside of our apartment bc i painted mine and i was like i can toss that out if you want me to. and they were like no leave it, at least for halloween. it took them three days to get rid of it after.
we have had a fruit fly problem since. they complain about it openly and blame the apartment complex and talk about how disgusting it makes them feel. i give them tips on how to make fly traps and they lament that they dont work (i do make them though for my room and it keeps my room free of flys) and theyre regularly boiling water to dump it down the drains in hopes itll kill them. they have continously rejected my ideas. they also keep putting inscense next to fly traps i make and set out to "mask the vinegar smell" and when i explain that smoke makes insects avoid areas theyd go "but smoke is a natural bug deterant" and i go yes so when you put it next to the traps they avojd the traps and they go "i really dont think its rhat big of a deal."
recently they were talking about completely removing the balcony door off its hinges during the summer and i was like ....n....okay thats a fun idea but bugs will get in and itll rain and they were like it literally doesnt rain during the summer (it does) and shit and i just
i think im realizing theyre not smarter than me at all and are actually really oblivious to basically anything that isnt an academic text and have nearly hurt themselves multiple times if i wasnt there to jelp put and iiiiii iiiiiiiiid like it if they stopped treating me like i am fucking stupid now ^_^
