Character Creation | Species
A lot of character creation revolves around your species.
When you choose your species, it will give you base stats as fixed scores. It will also give your movement speed per main action used (explained next post), and your species bonus, which was mentioned previously.
The stats are Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Willpower, Intelligence, Charm, and Fate.
Fate is a score delving into the divine. Most species i make will not change your fate score, as it is normally determined by the deity you follow; Following a positively aligned deity like Truth will give you a score of 15 (+2) for Fate. Following a neutral deity like Reverence will give a score of 10 (+0). And following a negative deity like Null will give a score of 5 (-3).
Fate scores increase or decrease depending on your relations with the deities. And, unlike the other scores, having a negative Fate will not be a bad thing in a normal sense. Negative fate is the equivalent of being an evil aligned character.
Following the explanation for fate is a couple other things:
Each species will have one or more neutral perk trees, meaning it's available to the species as a whole. Each subspecies has a perk tree as well, which is only available if you have that subspecies.
Each species has abilities granted immediately off the bat. These are normally free and provide a baseline of things that can be done without needing to spend karma on anything. This also includes defense increases (ill explain next post as well).
Each subspecies grants you different modulators, which are numbers that increase or decrease one ability score by that count.
For instance: if you chose a Tlahulia-Coatl as your species, your baseline stats will look like the following:
10ft/1 action | 20ft climb/1 action
If you chose Beast Coatl as your subspecies, you would get the modulators +2, +1, and +1 to add to any of the above ability scores. You can only use an individual modulator once, and you cannot stack modulators on top of each other.
