black lives matter and pride are intrinsically linked. the black trans community have done so much for us, we owe it to them to not forget their movement this month. without black lives, there would be no pride. black lives matter, today and always

this video shows Marta C Gonzalez, a former prima ballerina who danced with the New York Ballet in the 1960s, sitting in her wheelchair at a nursing home in Valencia and listening to the finale of Swan Lake through headphones. As she does so, she begins to go gracefully through the choreography she learnt decades ago. And that’s not even the most remarkable part. Ms Gonzalez, who sadly died last year, was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease at the time. While the video is from 2019, it’s only just been released by Asociación Música para Despertar, a Spanish charity that provides therapy for dementia patients by using important music from their lives. It’s now gone viral, and there can’t be a dry eye on the planet. ‘The power of music is immeasurable,’ the charity said. ‘May she rest in peace.’
