Yo-kai:
IT DOES NOT FULLY SINK IN that she is being directly addressed for a good few seconds of silence hanging in the air. Light gives way to a girl staring back at her through the downpour; eyes glow through the night and peer over her shoulder, looking every which way and hesitant about– about something, perhaps judging if she’d deign it necessary to strike. Another Yokai–
…Another Yokai.
And she is not under his sway, but fully aware of all.
“Y-You can see me?!” Louder than she ever speaks, closer to moaning in pain than anything accusatory or even surprised. Drizzelda’s brow softens and fear alights anew and the wind howls in the wake of her question, cradling the can closer to her chest.
The sudden rise in her voice is enough to startle Katie, taking a solid step back and blinking. Sleep is ready to take over, rain blurring her vision further than even drowsiness can. Free hand comes up to swipe at her eyes, keeping the temptation to pass out at bay for a little while longer. She can rest when the situation before her is resolved, right?
“ I, um, yes-- You see, I have this watch here and it’s letting me see a bunch of you guys around here, ” Katie explains, not pausing to even ask if Drizzelda already knew about the device. If the surroundings were kinder for this encounter, maybe she would have.
“ ... Listen, you don’t seem happy to be spotted. I can’t do anything to make you pay for that drink either, so... can I please buy one myself? If I don’t drink something that’ll pump me up, I might just pass out in the middle of the street. ”
An exaggeration, but she really needed to get going.
