I just watched a walkthrough of Silent Hill F, with all the endings and game++ content
The game is truly multi-layered and complex, but in a good way. It feels like a well-written detective story. All this symbolism, all this hints. It's don't make sense at first, but with time it's come together to form a one, good, whole story.
...And, thus being said, despite all this, I can't help but feel irrational wrath towards Fox Mask. I dunno why, but every time I saw his model on the screen, I literally felt the desire to bite his throat out. Kind, understanding, with a sympathetic backstory and the looks of a shonen character— and that makes me disgusted.
I see, that he is more of a metaphor, a manifestation of "a good person in an bad system", rather than real person— but still, Hinako, wtf, why do you like him??? Girl, he is mid at best!

PEEPHOLE INTEROGATION:
HEADPHONE GIRL: A woman stands there hesitantly while holding up a notepad. Can I come in please? Is written in neat handwriting.
CHOICE 1: What’s with the writing?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She brings the pad back to her and scribbles something else. I struggle to speak to strangers. I apologise for the inconvenience.
CHOICE 2: Why should I trust you?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She brings the pad back to her and scribbles something else. I don’t make trouble; I’ve always kept to myself. You’ll probably forget I’m even here. I can’t just ask you to trust me sir but I bring no ill will to others.
CHOICE 1: Why’d you come all the way out here to seek shelter?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She returns to jot something down once more. I went to a bar previously but they refused me entry since I couldn’t speak. I don’t blame them though. Everybody’s looking out for their own skin right now, and most people have always thought me to be strange.
CHOICE 2: Aren’t you warm in that jacket?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She returns to jot something down once more. A little, but it’s my favourite jacket. Wearing it makes me feel better. I couldn’t abandon it even if it is sweltering out here.
CHOICE 1: Come in
HEADPHONE GIRL: She gives a small nod in thanks
CHOICE 2: You should leave
HEADPHONE GIRL: Her shoulders droop but she gives a wave goodbye before disappearing from sight.
FIRST CONVERSATION:
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: You said people thought you were strange?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She retrieves her notebook and pen from her jacket pockets. Yes. She writes. Being unable to speak even in a dire situation like this is abnormal. I want to but physically can’t right now. The words are unimaginably heavy on my tongue. It’s something I’ve always lived with. My face doesn’t help matters in others opinions of me. Big fucking droopy eyes and dark circles like inky night that make me appear half-dead. I’ve heard it all. People whisper. People stare. The world is so loud. I can hardly make a sound amongst all the noise. I might as well not have a mouth.
SECOND CONVERSATION:
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: Why do you wear those headphones when they no longer work?
HEADPHONE GIRL: Her eyes widen slightly at that question before slowly pulling her pen out. It usually stops people from trying to talk to me. She smirks before writing again. But seriously wearing them just brings me comfort, even when the music is dead. But in that way I’m pathetic right? Refusing to let go of something like a baby and their blankie.
THIRD CONVERSATION:
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: How are you doing?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She begins to write again. As good as someone can be in a situation like this I guess. My heart still pounds at the slightest noise; of what’s lurking in the shadows. Sometimes I’m tempted to flee this house and let the sun scorch me up. But that would be a painful way to go. I’d rather something gentler. Although, then again, is death ever gentle?
FOURTH CONVERSATION:
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: You spoke of death. Do you wish to die?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She sighs before donning her pen. It would end my suffering, no? It’s not like any would miss me. I’ve accepted death, even if the concept of the end terrifies me. In my eyes the end will be nothing. The same as it was before I came into this world. It’ll be something I’ll only ever theorise and never truly experience.
But it’d be a shame that my stories would never see the eyes of others if I were dead. Although in this cataclysm I doubt many care for simple fiction anymore.
FINAL CONVERSATION (If Human):
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: You write stories?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She gives a nod, but keeps her eyes lowered. I do... Why do you ask?
CHOICE 1: I’d like to read one sometime
HEADPHONE GIRL: She almost seems to smile at the notion. Yeah... You care for romance then? Sweet. She hands over one of her notebooks.
CHOICE 2: Why bother?
HEADPHONE GIRL: Why bother? Asking a creator that is like asking anyone why they breathe. The day I can no longer imagine is the day I’ll already be gone from this world. Even in the darkest depths of my own mind fiction remained a comfort... I think... before the end... I’ll imagine something good before I disappear into the abyss. Yes. A final vision of my own creation.
FINAL CONVERSATION (If Visitor):
HEADPHONE GIRL: She inclines her head slightly.
CHOICE: You write stories?
HEADPHONE GIRL: She gives a nod, but keeps her eyes lowered.
CHOICE 1: I’d like to read one sometime
HEADPHONE GIRL: She almost seems to smile at the notion before handing over one of her notebooks.
CHOICE 2: Why bother?
HEADPHONE GIRL: Why bother? She writes. Such a curious question. Why do we do anything? It was a pastime of mine that made life a bit more worth living. Even in the darkest depths of my own mind fiction remained a comfort. I think before my end I imagined something good before I disappeared into the abyss. Yes. A final vision of my own creation. And yet... Here I still stand...

HEADPHONE GIRL: I’ve got pretty big eyes, I don’t get much sleep though. She writes.

HEADPHONE GIRL: She shakes her head firmly, her usual expressionless face scrunching in disgust.
CHOICE: Photo
HEADPHONE GIRL: She looks a little hesitant before nodding.
CHOICE: Ears
HEADPHONE GIRL: NO! I’M NOT TAKING THE HEADPHONES OFF. FUCK OFF. She writes quickly.
CHOICE 1: Leave alone
CHOICE 2: Pull out the gun
HEADPHONE GIRL: Her eyes widen but she makes no other moves
CHOICE: Shoot
HEADPHONE GIRL (If human): Well...goodbye then...
HEADPHONE GIRL (If visitor): ...
CHOICE: Hear out
HEADPHONE GIRL: Sighs in relief before scrawling her answer and jabbing a finger at it. You should think more carefully before giving me such a grim death sir. My blood will seep through your floorboards and be a pain to clean up from a shotgun blast.
Most of the time it's really hard for me to discuss books/plot/characters with other people, actually
Because— I perceive every story as a continuation of the author, and instead of empathizing with the characters, I try to understand the person who created the story
In most cases, I stop reading a book/watching a movie not because I didn’t like the story, but because at some point I began to disagree with the person who wrote it
Like— ah, yeah, "We're all living in a dystopia, but no one can notice because people are dumb". M, cool, man, I'm glad you finished third grade and learned to think logically. What else can you say?
And. Sometimes I agree with the authors, sometimes I don’t, sometimes I have questions about the artistic techniques they use. But at its core, it is always a kind of spiritualistic act, an attempt to understand a person who may no longer exist trough their way of writing/staging
I've gotten into a lot of debates and arguments about books because of this, actually. Because, due of this perception of books, there is no particular difference between reading a classic of literature, reading some guy’s posts from Twitter, or listening to a life story of some hobo for me
And some people are pissed off bc of this
...They have a right to do so, tho. But I still. My opinion on books is valid
we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts. WHAT HAPPENED TO US!! we used to be a proper community!!!! #LetsBringWhimsyBack
