The scene in 4.3 where Blade says he hopes Kafka finds the 'heart' she's looking for got me thinking: are the Stellaron Hunters inspired by the Wizard of Oz?
The four main characters in the book were looking for a heart, a brain, courage and a way home respectively. Kafka is, as established, looking for a heart. That leaves Blade seeking a resting place, Firefly seeking a life of her own, and Silver Wolf seeking the 'hidden ending' where she doesn't reach the peak of Elation and end up consumed by her own power.
Blade's is the most similar, with his desire to be laid to rest being close enough to wanting to get home. I think Firefly being the one looking for courage is also plausible- she's already a courageous person, but she wants in particular to be able to face the world and life on her own terms.
Silver Wolf is the only one that doesn't really line up. Compared to the other Stellaron Hunters, her journey is less about the end goal to begin with. Wanting a brain could maybe be likened to her wanting independence, but it's a stretch.
But if we assume I'm right about the inspiration, the story ends with the wizard being a fraud who doesn't actually grant the protagonists' wishes, but cons them into granting their own wishes. This is a lot like Elio, in my opinion. He can't actually change possibilities, but he can nudge people in the right direction.
they just listen to whatever this guy meows
making up characters is so fun because you can be like “this is johnson he came from my mind” and all your friends will go “yippe!!! horray!!! we love johnson!!!”
very unfortunate but hilarious side effect of calling the example oc johnson in this post is now people are saying this in the tags
@kasperyousay, yo micro johnson

been thinking about pantalone's rings lately—specifically how he wears all of them on the left hand save for one, which he wears on the right hand ring finger. and also how the wedding band is traditionally worn on the right hand ring finger in slavic countries. if you're picking up what i'm putting down
(I mean just LOOK at this shit.)
