I've been thinking a lot about the modern au of the Illiad and the Odyssey lately. The idea of seen the characters in a high school setting it's really cool, but i wanted to see them in other settings so i thought "hey, i should do It myself then!"
So here i present you my modern au designs of Odysseus, Penelope and Diomedes:
He's an history professor, loves his job but It leaves him exhausted. He's horrible with directions and travels, always gets Lost, even in the simpliest routes. Knows Diomedes since college, where they got a matching tattoo (dont ask him about It, he will feign dementia). Meet Penelope by accident when he got inside the wrong bus while he was going to a seminary, they spent the whole trip talking together and once Odysseus realised he had taken the wrong bus, Penelope offered him to join her own trip. They got married some years later. He has the dream of becoming a fisher in his natal village once he gets too old to teach.
She is a profesional tailor, very perfectionist and critical with her own work, a workaholic. The older sister of her enormeous family, she had spent her whole life surrounded by people which had lead her to prefer being alone.Not a big fan of physical touch. She meet Odysseus while she was in middle of a vacation trip (forced by Helen with the argument that she needed a break) and she found him too endearing to abandon him by his own, so she ended up offering to tag her along. At first her and Diomedes didnt get along but with time, she ended up relaying on him everytime she needed to deal with Odysseus' antics. Her cousins are her closest friends and aside from Odysseus, the only people she allow to touch her.
He works at a security company, where people can hire him as a body guard. Not the best of the jobs, but enough for living. Odysseus and him met at college (he was in first year while Odysseus was two years before him), where they were roommates, they hit off inmeddiately and kept in touch despite the time. They have a matching tattoo, the result of a whole night of partying too hard. He left college in order to train to be a profesional boxer, which he would have achive if It wasnt because the injury he got in his shoulder after a hard match, that's why he ended up as a body guard. At first, he didnt stand Penelope, he saw her as an obstacle between him and Odysseus but at the end they ended up having more in common than he initialy thought. Odysseus is barely the only person he actually listen and takes seriously, the rest of the world seemed to be not important enough for him to process It.
I'm thinking of doing more, so i'm accepting suggestions 😌 and also, i'm answering questions if someone is curious enough to ask 😈
