Keys to the heart

You had been practicing nonstop for the past few hours. Fingers gliding over the keys, projecting an entourage of beautiful notes. Kuroo stood watching from the doorway, completely engrossed in your performance. He had been standing there since you started, but not once did it feel like time was passing. The notes blurred the hours to minutes, and minutes to seconds. He knew how much your upcoming performance meant to you, and as much as he would love to listen to you practice, he needed to make sure you took care of yourself.

Kuroo made his way to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, he pulled out the ingredients to make your favorite sandwich, humming along to the melody of your playing. After making your sandwich, he made one for himself, grabbed two water bottles, and made his way back to you.

“Hey baby, I made us lunch.”

You stopped and looked toward the door. He had a big, goofy smile on his face.

“In a minute, just let me practice a bit more.”

Kuroo’s face dropped. He looked at you with pleading eyes, silently begging you to take a break.

“FIne, I’ll come eat, but then I have to practice!”

“But you’ve been practicing all day, you need to take a break. We could go out for a bit!”

You go to say something, but realize how tense you were. And you haven’t really gone out with Kuroo lately… Feeling guilty you agree to go out, and eat at a park.

- honestly ushijima came to mind immediately when i read your description, & that’s how i know we’ve got a gooooood match hehe

- first of all, he loves your appearance! he thinks your hair is so pretty & he likes running his fingers through it when you two are just laying in bed or chilling on the couch—he finds it relaxing & just loves playing with your hair in general

- ushijima is definitely one Big Guy so you look small compared to him omg. he thinks your body is beautiful & doesn’t see why you’d be insecure about it 🥺 like seriously. you’re perfect to him

- he’s not a big talker himself, so he actually likes that you’re kind of shy. you two get along very well, & don’t drain each other’s energy at all. he has no time for people with no brains, so he finds it very easy to connect with you since you’re so intelligent!

- ushijima will absolutely not tolerate bullying of any kind towards you. he will take care of anybody who has a bone to pick with you & intimidate the hell out of them omg. he’s patient when waiting for you to let him in since he knows it might not be easy, but once you two start opening up to each other, you’re actually very comfortable with the other person!

- he never understands why you apologize so much. he doesn’t get upset over it or anything, but he does tell you straight up that “there was no need to apologize for that.” he’ll say things like, “why are you sorry? you haven’t done anything wrong” or “don’t apologize, there’s no reason to” to remind you that you’re all good. seriously. & he’ll never get tired of telling you that either. he’ll just keep on reminding you until you start to get more comfortable with not feeling the need to say sorry for little things :’)

- he’s so glad that you weren’t afraid of him when you met. people tend to be scared off by ushijima because of his intense face or height (i.e. hinata), but you somehow found a way to reach him & connect with him. ushijima’s definitely on the introverted side so it’s unlikely he’ll put you in an uncomfortable situation in a large group or something

- ushijima is a very practical & realistic person (sometimes to a fault), so overworking yourself to the point of extreme fatigue is a no in his book. why would you sabotage yourself when you can be kinder to yourself to cultivate a more sustainable, healthy routine? he’d, without a doubt, lecture you about the harmful side effects of overworking yourself & give you a short but concise talk about why it’s absolutely imperative to practice self-care

- i feel like you & ushijima would be really good at strategy games together. he likes that you really use your brain instead of just saying baseless things that come to your mind (again, i.e. hinata), & he just both admires & respects your ability to be so eloquent when you present since he tends to be… a bit blunt & not too great with words sometimes 💀

- but at the end of the day, most of all, ushijima loves your kindness and your heart. he thinks it’s incredible how you manage to open your heart to so many people, & is repulsed by the idea of anyone stooping so low as to take advantage of that. he never considered this before, but after meeting you, he’s recognized that he needs to work on being compassionate & paying more attention to the way he treats people

- you inspire him to be a better person & to continue growing in different ways that he never imagined every day. in turn, he inspires you to continue working hard towards the dream that you’re passionate about, & will always find his own method of supporting you in that journey!

🌊hi if ur not too busy cld i have a matchup? i'm a straight 5 6' aries ENTJ 5w6 girl with black short curly hair and really dark eyes. i'm an ambivert and tend to give off the impression that i'm extroverted and constantly enjoy being around others but i prefer being in a quiet area with no one but my thoughts. i'm generally a very playful and witty person who loves to debate and have discussions with others, and never miss out on the details because of how observant I am.

🌊 it's very rare for me to cry as i tend to bottle up my emotions from others and am extremely private and reserved with any personal information. i'm not very good at showing others my affection so instead i perform small actions or say things to show i care. i can sometimes tend to overthink a decision i've made making me distracted and confused until i've reassured myself i made the right decision. i love reading, writing, sleeping, psychology, conspiracies, running track, and debating.

🌊it takes a long time for me to develop a bond and trust others so i usually observe them first and check how they interact with others. i love to listen to music and read because it's so calming and helps me to relax. i'm quite talkative in my friend group and tend to be the mediator in both my friend group and my family which can be pressuring sometimes. i usually fall for people who are respectable and admirable. i think honesty and communication are some of the keys to a strong relationship

- i have an rbf so a lot of people tell me they were intimidated by me at first, esp bc they think i’m cool (but i truly am not. legit not even joking lmfao) but once they get to know me i’m super warm! i’m a good listener & also really understanding

- i’m super thoughtful! sometimes to a fault bc i think/worry too much about how my words/actions might affect other people, but in general i’m always looking out for my friends & offering to do things for them bc it’s how i show that i care

- most definitely an ambivert. i don’t mind going out (if i don’t look like a gremlin that day) but going out too many times in a week both drains my energy & makes me feel SUPER guilty bc i’m a workaholic so i get hella anxious if i’m not doing work or being productive lol. but i also like having my own time to watch anime, be a bum, & write matchups haha

- i’m really down-to-earth. i think one of my biggest pet peeves are when people are arrogant so i wish they’d be more humble, but bc i’m so used to putting myself down i really struggle with my confidence & always feel like i’m not good enough lol rip

- my sense of humor can be pretty dry & sarcastic but i’m also told i radiate chaotic energy lol. i don’t mind looking dumb & saying stupid stuff if it means making people laugh, but i can be pretty witty!

- my heart is so big. like legit i care so much about other people but it’s also kind of easy to take advantage of me LOL. i’m trying not to take any more bullshit after being traumatized so many times but it just doesn’t change my caring nature. my friends & family are the most important people to me! i’m often told that i inspire other people to care for their loved ones as best as they can :’D

- i’m pretty well-rounded in terms of academics, social life, & personal life! i’m super ambitious but also a perfectionist to a fault. it’s a bit of a juxtaposition but i procrastinate doing certain things bc i feel like i won’t be good at it, when deep down i know the only way to get better is to DO it & practice. idk i beat myself up a lot & just never give myself a break. i’m super anxious & also a people-pleaser; i’m stubborn but will usually let people win bc i hate conflict lmao

- some of my hobbies include playing piano, dancing, & singing! i’m a very musical person & dance is the only form of exercise i’ll do lol. i love love LOVE going to cafes & coffee shops to do work, & i also love binge watching anime by myself or with friends. i’m a junk food fanatic & idk just overall pretty wholesome even though i don’t look like it lol.
