Deed” (ディード Dido)
There's a thing in Classics studies where you'll read surviving descriptions of Ancient Greek automata which attribute all manner of near-lifelike behaviour to them – then you look at the reconstructed plans for the automaton in question, and it's a device with roughly the sophistication of a wind-up mouse.
The broad consensus seems to be that the authors of such descriptions are exaggerating for clout. For my part, I look at all the people in the year 2026 who've managed to genuinely convince themselves that LLMs are not only sapient, but smarter than they are, and I think: hmm.
remembering is the mind killer
"[thing associated to trans women] but for transmascs :3" and other ways of making something immediately worse on multiple levels
asking for the blue version because you cannot possibly just relate to women once in your life
usually transmisogynistic
even when talking about something like art, and even if not done in an explicitly transmisogynistic manner, self-evidently derivative and i've yet to see somewhere where it didn't become instantly less interesting than the original concept
have you ever had a single original thought
"what about men :("
there is absolutely nothing barring you from engaging with transfem culture as a non-transmisogynized person btw. i read countless books and articles from trans women and transfeminized people, follow multiple comedians, go to events where non-transmisogynized ppl are allowed, etc etc etc. they're neat. and turns out when you don't go around whining about the poor forgotten men nobody has a problem with it
#a lot of this impulse is just because of bullying#like the idea that trans womens art/memes/culture are ‘cool’#and trans mens are lame and cringe#well i hate to say trans men do have culture lol you just find it embarassing#maybe look inward.
maybe there's something to it (tags by @bottom-growth) because there is a certain brand of tboy edgelord who's all about Punk But With Frogs or whatever who, anecdotally, i'd say is overrepresented here. thing is, mainstream culture also finds transfem-associated things "cringe" (just look at how people will talk about puppygirls to name one), they just take whatever they feel like from it all the same and get to be "cool" once they are the ones doing them. the girls just seem better at not giving a shit (generally speaking, of course)
ive heard so many arguments about what the "transmasc version of Celeste" is and boys you can just like Celeste. its a good fucking game. liking Madeline doesnt make you less of a man it just makes you a man who likes a transfem character.
Nothing captures this better than when men reverse a gif of an egg transforming into a beautiful woman such that you see a joyous trans woman morph back into a miserable man, and then call it transmasc representation. Like you literally just took a trans woman's piece of art and reversed it, undoing it, and called it your own
Lol i got suspended on twitter
The Sameer Project needs you!
Please consider increasing your contribution to The Sameer Project. They have several campaigns on Chuffed that support different areas across Gaza. I encourage you to choose any campaign and contribute regularly, increasing your donation whenever you are able to.
We are a donations based aid initiative for Gaza led by Palestinians,
Please increase your donation if possible because Israel just attacked a community kitchen in Gaza killing three volunteers but I'm not sure which community kitchen they attacked but increase your donation anyway. This is a dire time.
we just need someone to put a game up on Steam that's East of an abstract concept
Video Game adaptation coming soon!
A very specific sub-genre of the early Soviet educational posters dedicated to the health of mothers and children: a baby rally. It's literally a picture of babies and toddlers rallying with demands for better childcare and parenting practices written on their placards.
"you are gay and chinese" continues to be such a profound and emotionally impactful work to me which is rly funny

I think one of the worst things a story can be is unproblematic.
Nothing makes a story more unreadable than being able to see the author squirm apologetically for the story they actually want to write—wringing their hands and imploring the reader please, please don’t be mad, I know it’s ideologically questionable but I need you to not be mad at me!
For example: a Good King™️. It’s one thing for a story to present a fictional monarchy and ask me to root for it. It’s another thing for a story to say, hey, I know what you’re thinking—but don’t worry! I can justify this premise! I have introduced a lot of convoluted self-aware political justifications for why my king is good and likable without actually asking any risky ideological questions! These characters aren’t actually problematic! Don’t be mad at me!
Commit to the bit. Apologetic, defensive writing designed to bypass obvious criticisms often winds up offending me far more than stories that are just kind of surface-level problematic. If I’m gonna be a hater you cannot stop me; the more you insist that a character is actually a good oil tycoon because of all these exceptional situations and beyond my reproach, the more I resent you and hate your stupid book.
