Some thoughts under the jump

When I saw this promo picture for the CW Arrowverse shows, I immediately pictured it with these three Sinnoh goons (same energy, y'all!). I sketched this out in November of last year, but was feeling really uninspired for how to bring the best out of the characters. When all the hype around the new games started, something just clicked and it felt like the perfect time to finish and share it. So I'm not going to say it's no coincidence that Supergirl ended last week, the DPPT remakes are coming out this week, and that it's a partial lunar eclipse in Taurus, buuuut this whole eclipse season is about patience with your manifestations and transforming your dreams, so take that as you will and go live your best lives, folks!

Fifteen minute free-draw

Took a pause in May and June from drawing almost entirely, partially because I was both busier than expected, but also because I was feeling a self-imposed pressure to make every piece be perfect and overly complex. This July, I want to spend more time practicing shapes and shading with some of these quick sound-bite drawings, to test what I do and don't like about my style and where I need to start studying more. Don't let fear of perfection keep you from doing what you love, folks!

I loved Goh and Ash's first meeting, but what if Goh had gotten one of the classic "meet your traveling companion by stealing and wrecking their bike" moments, except this time Ash finally gets himself a bike and Goh steals his to track down Mew!?

Definitely not my best work and this background is trash but you gotta start somewhere right?

Doing some digital redraws of paper sketches I did almost a decade ago, and wanted to share this one because it had so much levity! Very solar eclipse of me, I know. Are redraws are just another way of looking at the past objectively in order to figure out what you want to do in the present?

More Julie's screencap sketches from January!

I was experimenting more with different brush styles then, and it's still pretty wild to me how it can change the way your style looks completely. Round brush vs. gouache preferences anybody?

This episode in the anime was so sweet. Intended to just clean up an old pencil sketch, but I liked the way the pencil and paper showed through, so I left it in! Gives it a bit of motion...

Had a really fun time practicing poses and 90's style clothing using stills from Julie and the Phantoms. The actors on this show are so expressive so there are more of these to come!? Maybe?!
