My question is for the audience analysis part 1 of the design project. What format would you like this in? A document with a mix of paragraphs, bullet points, and images seems like the simplest route. However, the project is called "Everything is designed", so should I go the more creative route and use Canva?
Data Analysis
Things from the Data Analysis in Module 2 that are helping me now on content analysis is, that I now have an understanding and background knowledge on media data that I didn't have before. I can now recognize 'successful' content and understand what decisions had to be made to make it so 'successful.
I feel the same way. The smaller practice run in Module 2 has given a little taste of what we should be looking for while looking at content.

This is an example of the content I created for the How to Write Guide, showcasing some of my tips. I have included some tips below, do you think they're written in an appropriate language for content creators? Do they convey quality advice?
the first tip I want to emphasize is the importance of timing your posts correctly. In our constantly refreshing digital world, the initial moments after posting are crucial for maximum engagement. Posting during peak downtime, or when you know your audience is most active on Instagram, is the best way to ensure maximum engagement.
I also found that each of these accounts post constantly, almost once a day. Staying active and engaged with their audience keeps them coming back for fresh information.
Another crucial tip, even if it seems obvious, is to use eye-catching designs, vibrant colors, and enticing language. The content must be captivating to attract users, and research has shown that bright, appealing cover photos play a significant role in achieving this.

How I have been graphing my data, or at least attempting to, had been through a graph system. I have utilized a bar graph to display my data, one for each account I have chosen to analyse. Each bar in the graph will represent the measurements I am analyzig - likes, comments, shares. This is the best way to highlight user engagement for my approach.
As I mentioned before, the elemnts I will be focusing on are the likes, comments, and shares on content. I will additionally be noting the role tagging (locations, people, hashtags) plays in inspiriing user engagement.
The elemtns will directly correlate with my research question. My research question asks: How do the different user engagement measures (likes, comments, shares, saves) vary across different types of content (destinations, tips/tricks, personal experiences, activities)? Engagement meatricts will indicate what content is most successful among their audiences.

For my content analysis project, I am planning on focusing on Instagram. I chose this space because it is the one I am most familiar with, and recognize the influence it has on our generation. I have narrowed my accounts based on the ones that I have seen the most. I chose a topic that I am interested in and follow many accounts that post related content, so it wasn't a difficult decision. The accounts I settled on were the most popular among followers and had the most diverse content. Ansalyzing data and drawing conclusions from such is always a good excercise becuase it helps develop writing skills. This project made me look at what inspires user engagement and how content strategy impacts content decisions.
Week 4 check in
I just have some questions about the design concept of the "How to Write Guide". Is it supposed to be more of an image or graphic with our ideas on them? Over the traditional style of an essay? Or should we incorporate graphics to represent our findings?

Im planning to use Instagram as my digital space to focus on. I chose this because it's the social media platform I'm most familiar with. I know how to navigate the space, read comments, see likes on posts and view their audience (followers). I feel the most comfortable with this platform. I see the influence it has with my peers, so it couldn't hurt to learn a bit more about how to analyze it.
I chose my accounts based on a topic I'm passionate about: travel. While there is a concern that weeks of research might diminish my enthusiasm, I've already invested considerable time into this subject. At this point, I don't think there's anything that could make me hate it. I chose my three specific accounts based on what they advertise themselves as, and what their content focuses on. I settled on @natgeotravel @theloverspassport and @travelandleisure.
Writing my research question was actually more difficult than I thought it would be. I found it difficult to narrow myself to a specific question. However I think it ultimately forced me to focus on one aspect of their content strategy and will give me a better understanding of how it works.

In my proposal I have included a couple different options for my research question, I just want to make sure they are on the right track. Also, my focus is three Instagram accounts. They vary in style but all focus on travel content. If you could take a look and give some feedback whether or not they're what's necessary for this assignment.

I chose white represent my mood because i've been feeling a bit lost, void and unsure of myself. I love the color white, but I associate too much white with the padded rooms they take committed people to restrain themselves. And that's how I've been feeling lately, a bit crazy, so I thought it was fitting.

This is the conclusion of my essay for part 2. Based on the directions saying the paper should be 2 parts--so what? and why does it matter?--I've decided to make the conclusion the latter. There was a lot to take in with this assignment, but here are the points I tried to touch upon:

I think you did a great job! It makes some good connections to class notes and applies the lessons to your personal instagram account. My only suggestion would be to elaborate a bit further, maybe add some examples what the little things are that add up to be trends.

This is how I have my data organized for the data chart, I kind of feel like I am missing something or I don't have enough data within it. Anything suggestions? or anything I should add or edit?

I think this is great! My data chart looks similar. The only thing I would suggest is to add to the chart is more details in the notes section. Other than that I would say look for correlations between who liked/commented on which pictures to help with the analysis.

I’m trying to approach this project like I do the rest of my classes, one step at a time. I find that breaking it up into smaller bite-sized chunks makes it less daunting to take on. I like to start a project by getting my footing and learning the background information by completing the readings or watching the required videos. Then I’ll complete the smaller assignments, easy ones I can knock out of the way quickly. Bigger assignments I usually split into a couple of days, but I still prefer to sit down and crank it out rather than dragging it on longer than necessary. Data collection has been generally simple, Instagram makes it easy to quickly find likes, comments, locations, and tags. The only thing that took a bit of time was going through who liked which post and who didn’t.

I’m just generally confused about what the assignment entails and what you’re looking for from us. We have the option to pick our personal platform, such as Instagram, to conduct this practice analysis. Does it matter what kind of content we are posting? If we just post about our lives and aren’t advertising or marketing and it’s just for fun, can these data analyses still be successful? I guess I’m asking if the content matters as much or if we were just using this for information to base our analysis on.
This Subaru ad is a great example of information architecture and discourse community. The image of the car with a father and child outside conveys the message that Subaru is a family-orieted brand, evoking a sense of love. The heading "Dear Subaru" at the top adds a personal touch, fostering a conversational tone between the customer and the company.
To stay organized I write assignments in my agenda to keep track of due dates. I'll use color coordination when I juggle multiple classes. For an online class, Ill break assignments down further on paper to jot some notes down and really dig into the information.
My note-taking approach varies depending on the class format. For in-person, lecture-based courses, I typically opt for my computer as I can type faster and capture all the information efficiently. I organize my notes using topic headings and emphasis key details by bolding and underlining. When it comes to fully online courses, I find handwriting notes helps me retain informations more effectively. Additionally, I rely on my planner to organize deadlines and plan ahead accordingly.

I just have a few questions for clarification on the What is Content assignment to make sure I’m doing it right. When you refer to the visual rhetorical situation, are you talking about the image you showed in the video that has the key concepts? Do you want us to include our definitions, how they help create and analyze web writing directly on the graphic, or would that go in the reflection essay? Also, are there any word count requirements we are supposed to meet?

What is writing?
On a fundamental level, writing is just encoding: turning words and thoughts into decodable symbols. However, on a more philosophical level, writing is one of the most powerful ways we leave our mark on time. Spoken words last just a few moments, but writing can last thousands of years. Writing is how we share our thoughts with the world because it reaches farther in both distance and time than words ever could.
Who am I as a writer?
I consider myself to be an above average writer, however not particularly exceptional. On the bell curve of college students, I would fall just right of center. My vocabulary is decent and I have great organization and flow, however my grammar is a bit inconsistent. I use a lot of compound sentences which can lead to run-ons.
Building a workable schedule through weekly posts.
I am a notorious procrastinator who would perish if not for the almighty agenda. Spreading things out across multiple days is a skill that took me years to learn, but I have to fully master it. That being said, a class that lends itself to spread out posts harmonizes well with what I've found works best with me.
Such a valid statement about how permanent writing is, and I think that can get lost on people, especially in this day in age it's become so normalized. However what we write and send out into the world can't be taken back, which is why quality is so vital.
Schedule Building and Burnout
How Weekly Posts Will Help Build my Schedule:
The obvious answer is Weekly posts will make me post by a deadline somewhat consistently, but I can take the scheduling further. Tumblr has the ability to pre-schedule posts. I could write some posts in advance then space them out, so they don't overwhelm the viewers or leave empty spots in posting times.
In terms of my own schedule, I will have to plan out times to write these posts. If I want to keep the content spread out, I will have to read through the week's content and respond to at least one prompt in a timely manner.
In the past I have quickly burnt myself out by creating too much content at once. Spacing out my responses in both creation and post times will hopefully help me find a balance that works for me.

I notice that it's very easy to get burnt out and especially within academic setting experiencing "Senioritis". Creating and sticking to a schedule definitely helps with that and prevents cramming.
