Photographer that relates to my practice
9 Shots Photographer Relative to My Practice
For an Extended Practice class we were told to find a photographer that relates to our practice. As mine is street and architectural photography I thought 9 Shots was very appropriate. The colour in their photographs is very solid and block yet almost seems as if the saturation has been turned down to -10%, this is probably caused by the film they used, it adds an interesting affect to their photographs.
I admire the alignment that they use as I love perspective in my own photography, The use of people in the photographs I’ve seen are encouraging me to do the same in my own practice, mixing portraiture with street and architectural photography.
IDEA
For this project I want to focus on street and architectural photography as this is the genre that inspires me. My family have recently moved to Brighton so I want to explore the city through photography, the whole area is completely new to me so I recon I will have a different take on it. Through different shoots I will be able to find different collections of subjects that interest me.

Dylon Kasson Photographer Relative to My Practice
In an Extended Practice class we have been asked to look for a photographer that relates to our practice. Dylan Kasson is a photographer I can really inspire to, he has a varied style throughout his different collections however it is still clear that his main genre is street and architectural which is the photography that excites me.
I really agree with this article, I've always found it frustrating how I've been taught to make art from a direction and a reason, not just for the reason for making art. I've always been told I work 'backwards' as I prefer to photograph something I am passionate about then find a reason because I've been told to. But that's just the way my creativity works. "Seen that way, aboutness essentially ties in with our human desire for the world to make sense, for the world not to be just some random, possibly threatening collection of stuff."
Today in class we looked at Source which is a website that publishes graduate work so Phil was encouraging us through displaying past students work that was chosen and published the year before. I am really interested in this as I want to publicise my work as much as possible.
BRIEF
Through a self-devised project you will explore a concept/subject to produce an in-depth project over an extended period of time. You are required to submit a project proposal that outlines the aims and objectives of your project (template on eStudio). You may develop and change your project idea during the module. But if you do so, it is crucial you document and justify your decisions and journey in your supporting work. You will be supported during the duration of the project through individual tutorials, small group tutorials and group reviews of work in progress. You are to produce a portfolio of work presented in an appropriate format. A Critical Rationale and Exhibition Statement is to be completed to accompany the final outcomes of your project. There will be a group exhibition of the completed work at the end of the year show. Work is to be presented in a professional format for the exhibition. You are to consider a rationale for the selected method of presentation and submit a Project Proposal. A written evaluation of your project is to be submitted.
