As their lips connected, Becky immediately worried that this was a terrible decision. And maybe it was, because whatever came after this was sure to take Becky to a whole new level of discomfort. Regardless, this is exactly what she had been craving for so long now – something she constantly told herself that she couldn’t have, when in reality, it had been waiting for her too. As Katie finally kissed her back, Becky wasted no time in deepening the kiss, moving her other hand to follow Katie’s lead and place it at her waist, shoving their bodies together. A small moan erupted against Katie’s lips, and she parted her lips for more. The hand on the back of her neck reached into her hair, allowing strands to fall between her fingers and lightly tugging on them as she fought to keep her as close as possible. If this was the only kiss they could ever share, Becky wasn’t going to allow it to be a small one. While Becky may not have had much experience in this area, especially with a girl, she always found herself in an out-of-body experience whenever she was kissing someone. She danced around a wild side of herself that was rarely visited, but she acted on it. The hand on her waist dipped under her shirt top, just resting on the skin of her waist and digging her fingers into it as she kept her waist pressed against her own. She allowed the kiss to go on moments longer before finally pulling back, gasping for air. Retreating back to the conversation, she continued it as if it had never paused. “Why haven’t you kissed me yet?”
Katie knew to brace herself for later. Regret was a distinct possibility, and that pained her. Selfishly, she'd allow herself this moment of sheer gratification-- the same she'd dwelled on since they'd met. Every girl she'd been with since had been mere proxies. Nothing could have prepared her for the real deal. The way Becky felt pressed her made it heard to focus. Everything was hazy, and Katie’s hands too wandered respectfully. Her taste was indescribable which led to the shorter girl to wonder-- and just like that she ceased her train of thought. Becky's lips were softer, less touched by the world. God, she could do this forever. It was both sensual and sweet. It was maddening in other words. Katie knew that the standins would no longer be enough. Her own hand found itself the hem of Becky’s shirt, simply staying there. Not prepared for the end, she sighed disappointedly but it was masked by just how out of breath she'd become. The question rattled Katie, throwing her for a loop. She opened her mouth to speak, as though she possessed a readied response, but nothing surfaced. The raven haired girl didn't know just how to answer. There were a number of reasons she hadn't. The most prominent had been fear for losing her only friend-- the only person she genuinely cared about. Though, she wouldn't give that much away. Katie needed something for herself. “Because I wanted you to be ready,” she unwaveringly answered, and while it wasn't the whole truth, it had still be been honest. “Why did you want me to?”
As her hand grasped Katie’s shoulder blade, she subconsciously dug her fingernails into the skin. It was the only bit of control she seemed to have in the moment. When her voice broke the silence, she was admittedly surprised, her eyes opening wide as she stared back at her. Gulping, she nodded her head slowly – not speaking a word back as she worked her legs against hers. The fingers on her shoulder held tighter, her other hand still squeezing hers as she fought to do exactly what Katie had requested – but it wasn’t long until she allowed herself to come completely undone, even if they had barely given each other reason to do so. It just happened so easily between the two of them, and Grace never quite understood it. Breathing heavily, her legs relaxed, falling back onto the bed underneath Katie. Her grips loosened, but she still didn’t say a word. She didn’t know how.
Katie winced on account of her nails. It hurt in the best way. She was sure there would be marks the next day. But they would have time to heal before their vacation was over. Really, she hadn't meant to speak but it was difficult to not. She just wanted to make Grace feel good. By default that alone was enough to make her feel the same. As the other girl came, she too did as well. Her body fell slack, and she crashed atop Grace. She stayed like that briefly before the reality of all it all caved down on her. Swallowing hard, she rolled off her-- unsure of what her next move would be.
Inside Katie’s bedroom – the dark surrounding them, the door clothes, and them hidden underneath the covers – it seemed like nothing could get to them, and no one could find them. Had Maya awoken and found that Grace was gone, she could have easily come into Katie’s room and found them in this compromising position. But still, Maya was the furthest thing from Grace’s mind as she completely gave herself away to Katie. As the girl descending, Grace tugged on the covers, allowing Katie to go hidden underneath them. Something about not being able to see her, all the while feeling every surprising touch was driving Grace even more insane with each passing moment. Soft moans filled the air as Katie’s hands and mouth worked her chest, but as she moved downward, she could only hold her breath. Moving her legs to allow her to discard her bottoms, she prayed that Katie would return to her. She needed this moment of closeness before anything else progressed, only because she wanted to cherish it. The moment it all ended – she was sure that this would, too. Reaching underneath the covers, she pulled Katie back to her. Through the darkness, she stared at her momentarily before bringing her back in for a soft kiss. Hips still rocking against hers, she reached for Katie’s hands and pulled them above her head, stretching her body out as she arched into her body. As their bodies were now completely uncovered, she slid one of her legs up further on Katie, allowing their cores to fall into one another. A soft moan fell against Katie’s lips as she barely deepened the kiss, still keeping it at light as possible.
Thriving off every action, even the most slight and accidental of touches, she couldn't get enough. Excitedly, she smiled against Grace's lips and offered their now adjoined hands a gentle squeeze. From an incessant crush years prior, Katie hadn't anticipated this would be the outcome. Sometimes it was hard to believe that she'd actually gotten the girl. She'd had her but then she'd stupidly let her go. She'd given up on them. And still, she thought a nice pinch or two would make the reality crash down on her. Regardless of the world just outside the door-- she now had the girl, and they were hidden away in her bed. It was the very same she'd spent hours thinking about just this or any other variation. At the mere thought, she grew more excited. It should have come as no surprise to her, but Katie was saturated-- more wet than she'd been in months. Her predicament only increased as she caught up with Grace's thought process. She could only moan her appreciation. Katie adjusted herself accordingly, giving them both better access. Moving against her, Katie could feel her warmth. And even better, her arousal was evident. Soft pants became more eradicate while even more known. She could hardly keep quiet the closer she got, but her parents were just down the hall. Her sister was even bigger problem as she was just on the other of her room. Still, none of that mattered as sounds of desire stayed within their kiss.
Yet again, Grace completely forgot where she was or why she was there. This was no longer a visit to Maya’s house to catch up with her old high school friend – this was solely about the girl she was with now and how they were reconnecting after all this time apart. Though somehow, it didn’t feel like that at all, either. It felt like the two had never left each other, that they had always been together, in this position right now. That was a dangerous thought to dwell on, but right now, it didn’t matter. Nothing seemed to matter at all, other than their bodies colliding in the silence of the room. Still, she didn’t speak a word to the other girl, nor did she have any intentions of doing so. There really wasn’t anything to say at all; all that mattered was what Grace could show her. Allowing her to take off her shirt, she was glad they were both on the same level yet again. That, and the feeling of her skin against her own was something she still wasn’t over. As Katie crawled on top of her, she allowed her to rest peacefully there. Her hands traveled her bare back, nails grazing the skin every now and then. Once Katie’s lips met hers again, she only kissed her back eagerly. Her legs wrapped around Katie’s, holding her against her tightly. Her hands traveled down, circling her butt before finally grasping it, holding it into place as her hips moved to thrust upward, but as slowly as she could while still creating some sort of friction between the two.
Hours prior had been reckless. What they'd done in that washroom, Katie would never eradicate it from her memory. This required more finesse and thought process. There was nothing impulsive about was occurring. Nestled between Grace's thighs, she rotated her hips. She stirred in perfect synchronization with the only other person who genuinely knew her body. In some ways, grace knew it better. Growing with anticipation, she met her every thrust-- reciprocating with some of her own force. Soft pants spilled into the kiss. Sweat threatened to fall. Depending on who you ask, tragically, little else was truly needed. The way her body called out to the other was something she'd never have with anyone else. Breaking away from the kiss, she leaned in-- giving the other a ghostlike peck. Once she'd done so, she descended down Grace's body. Her lips trailed along delicate and toned skin. They reacquainted themselves with her chest. Could they be more perfect, she wondered to herself. Her breasts fit so completely in Katie's hands, in her mouth. Each brush of her lips, of her tongue, was another that echoed how she felt. Katie had never loved anyone else. Not even close. Her kisses marked their path until they ran out of untouched surface. Reaching the edge of her bottoms, Katie shakily drew them both down in one fluid motion. Not wanting Grace to be alone in her exposure, she did the same to herself. Still, she hadn't progressed things much further; or at all. Yet again, she found herself between the girl's leg rocking her hips.
The silence between them was better than any other option — and it always had been. Whenever the two spoke to one another, something always went wrong. And maybe that was the problem. They never allowed themselves to ever finish any fight because they preferred to jump into bed with each other instead. But in a moment like this, all the fights and frustration between them didn’t seem to matter, and neither did Katie’s girlfriend. The two deserved this moment of serenity with one another. Though it was warm underneath the blankets and against Katie, Grace felt a shiver run down her spine the moment Katie’s hands crept underneath her shirt. A small moan vibrated against Katie’s lips as she continued to deepen the kiss, wanting nothing more than simplicity. If they didn’t do anything further than this, that would be okay – all she needed was these moments with Katie. Bringing her hands down to Katie’s hips, she rubbed them gently before reaching the hem of Katie’s top and pulling it up her body. The kiss only broke briefly as she lifted it over her head, discarding it and instantly bringing Katie’s body against hers again. Her arms wrapped tightly around her, hands traveling her bare back as she did her best to show her how she truly felt, all through her lips moving against hers.
Katie never considered the possibility that she'd end up like this-- a cheater; a liar. Just knowing she was capable was telling enough in itself. With Grace, she'd have never-- nor would she, given the opportunity again; however, she didn't see that as a prospect. But with every second, every reaction from the younger girl, it didn't feel unfaithful. Instead, Katie experienced what she'd consider total completion. Alone she effortlessly survived, she was content, but this was something else entirely. It was impossible to think-- to act-- with them like in this manner. Her breath hitched. And her skin raised with bumps just so. Almost shyly, her arms elevated to aid Grace, not that she'd needed assistance. Even in the dark, she held little confidence as though it was the first time all over again. Breaking from the kiss after long moments, she followed Grace's lead. Pulling at the bottom of her top, Katie slowly stripped it from her body. She took a deep breath, praying she wouldn't destroy the harmony they'd created. Gently, excruciatingly so, she pushed Grace on her back. Only after she'd gathered the nerve did she crawl on top of her. Anxiousness dispersed the moment Katie's arms wrapped around her once more. She didn't kiss her. She didn't move. Her head nestled on Grace's chest, and she held on-- as though she had no intention of ever letting go. She could hear her heart pounding, leaving Katie to wonder if it was still hers. Lifting her head finally, she searched the night for Grace's gaze. Silently, she made her inquiry, but was positive she wouldn't receive an answer. Returning to their previous kiss, her embrace never faltered-- if anything she just held her tighter.
Grace really didn’t know what would happen the moment she crawled into bed with Katie. She could easily kick her out or at least push her away. Whatever happened, Grace was ready to pack her bags and go home if she needed. But as she softened to her touch, she was relieved. Still, she refused to say anything, worrying that if she spoke, it would send them straight back to reality and turn into some kind of argument. That was the last thing she wanted right now – all she wanted was exactly what happened next. As Katie turned around in her arms, Grace only pulled her closer to her. One leg slipped between hers in an attempt to entangle her entire body with hers. Grace was not a cuddler, and Katie would be the one to know that, but right now, that didn’t matter at all. Bringing her hand to her neck, she rubbed her jawline with her thumb. The room was nearly pitch dark, but she could still see Katie’s form. After a few moments, she finally brought her in, placing a soft kiss on her lips. Sliding her fingers to the back of her neck now, she leaned her body more into the kiss.
Katie took a deep breath. Her eyes drifted closed but only momentarily. She neither wanted to forget this occurrence, nor miss a second of it. Completely intertwined, she smiles to herself. While they'd been this near-- many times, it was gravely contrary to those passed. Unlike them however, they were freely allowed. This wasn't. Once was a mistake. Twice was a pattern. Three times was a habit; or an affair some would argue. Neither rang true with her. Grace would never be a mistake-- a habit perhaps, but one she had no desire to kick. The faintest of touches made oxygen an after thought. Her breaths were ragged. Goosebumps raised, and unknowingly she'd shivered. Her fingers aimlessly ran along Grace's back, paying it the attention it deserved; although, she hadn't dared more than superficial touches. Naturally, Katie licked her lips in anticipation just before theirs met. There was a gentility to it; one she'd cherish. Teetering on the edge of 'adventurous', her fingers trailed beneath her shirt. Subtly, they ran along her sides and in turn the side of her breasts, but she kept her grazes minimal.

Is she naked because you love her or do you love her because she’s naked?

✘ ⎯⎯⎯ Grace watched as the clock in the room switched to 3:30 am. She hadn’t gotten a minute of sleep, only thinking about who was in the room just down the hall from Maya’s. Sitting up, she glanced over at Maya, checking to make sure she was fast asleep. Holding her breath, she slipped out of the covers and quietly moved out of the room. Once she was in the hallway, she glanced down to the door she knew was Katie’s. She still had time to retreat back to Maya’s room and end this all here, but she couldn’t. Her mind was racing with thoughts of only Katie – and not just the kind that involved their time in the wash room. Going over to the door, she slowly opened it and stepped inside, making no noise other than her feet on the ground. Closing the door behind her, she moved over to Katie’s bed, still saying no word as she climbed under the covers. Instantly, she found her shoulder, pulling herself against Katie and wrapping her arms around her tightly. Still, she spoke no words, only letting out a small sigh.
Katie tossed and turned. For the past several hours, sleep eluded her. Since the moment the doorbell rang, she'd been on edge. As though she hadn't already occupied her mind enough, Grace now encompassed her every thought. While her eyelids remained closed, she replayed their earlier activities. From that, she wondered what they'd be like now had she not left. In the end, it had been her. Grace was right in what she'd said earlier in the evening. She had given up on them. Taking a deep breath, she turned over in hopes of finally finding sleep. Her eyes stayed shut, and her breathing slowed until it caught in her throat. She didn't need to look; she knew. Swallowing hard, she begged for her to come closer-- and prayed she'd just leave. After a brief moment, she melted into the embrace. Katie stayed like that for what seemed like forever. In all actuality, it was no more than a couple of minutes. Afraid to shatter it all, she still turned around remaining in Grace's hold. Suddenly Katie’s arms felt like spaghetti as she wrapped her in them.
Grace had many flaws, but it was becoming more evident than ever that her biggest was that she didn’t care about the feelings of people who were seemingly irrelevant to her – like Katie’s girlfriend. But how could she, when she felt like that girl had stolen everything that she had jumped through hoops to obtain herself? Chuckling against her lips, she allowed the kiss to shut them both up. Maybe it was easier when she couldn’t face Katie. Looking at her would only remind her that she was still in love with her – and that could only make this messier than it clearly already was. Besides that, she wanted nothing more than to torture Katie in the best way possible. It wasn’t her words that tempted her, only her back moving against her. Closing her eyes, she gave Katie exactly what she wanted. At this point, she didn’t even care if she got the same in return – this was all about reminding Katie what she was missing. Whether or not that changed things, Grace wasn’t sure she cared at this point. Dipping her finger inside, she brought her lips to her neck. As her finger moved, her teeth nibbled on the side of her neck.
The chatter of her family had been incessant since they'd walked away. Katie figured they had a couple more minutes before someone noticed their absence. Getting dessert ready took next to no time at all. Not thinking about that though, Katie braced herself. The intrusion was somewhat uncomfortable. Admittedly, it had been weeks since she'd had sex. It was that very reason she gave herself for wanting Grace so much. As the discomfort dispersed, her weight fell slack. Katie caved into her body, feeling her chest against her back. Needing more, Katie began grinding down in a last attempt to bring Grace closer-- deeper. Her ass drove moved into her. Whether from the dry spell she'd endured or the more likely culprit, Katie felt herself unraveling. Her pants increased, and the younger girl's name fell from her lips. It was actually embarrassing just how little effort was required. Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, she closed it. “We should get back...” she sighed sullenly.
Grace ignored her words, only going for what she really wanted now. Her family in the other room was the least of her worries – even Maya, who invited her here in the first place. She hadn’t missed her slip up of words, only smirking to herself as she knew this wasn’t the end. It would never be the end for them. Looking in that direction, she nodded her head. “I’m sure we can make that happen,” she mumbled, following her there quickly. Once the door was shut behind them, she wasted no time with Katie. Her lips moved eagerly against hers, her fingers following suit as she unclasped Katie’s as well. Pulling back from the kiss for a moment, she took a good look at Katie, letting out a small sigh as she actually felt grateful for being here. “You have to keep the sweater on, though,” she whispered with a smirk, instantly allowing their lips to crash again. Her hands roamed the skin just underneath the sweater before she moved them down to her hips. It was then that she turned Katie around, bringing her back side right against her own front. “Your parents are right out there, remember,” she whispered into her ear as her hand moved back to her unclasped pants, slowly working its way down until she was just over her destination – though she made no movement after that.
Ordinarily Katie wouldn't be caught dead doing something like this. It was careless, and so unlike her. Grace inspired something in her-- which she knew she'd disapprove of later. More specifically when her girlfriend called. Shaking the thought, she knew should stop and yet she didn't. One could argue that she couldn't. Grace's hold on her had never faltered, but she could. She simply chose to continue. “You're obnoxious,” she mumbled against her lips. In a hurry, her hands familiarized themselves above the surface and just beneath it. They gently worked her chest, wanting to delve deep; however, there wasn't time for that. Katie allowed herself to be turned around. Confusion painted over features until she realized what was happening. She bit down on her lip, bracing herself but nothing happened. “Dammit, Cardinal. Please,” she begged, her voice hardly audible. Egging her own, Katie moved her ass against her-- inadvertently arching herself more into her hand.
Again, her eyes narrowed in on Katie as she spoke back. But this time, she had no smart comment to make in return. She simply sat there and continued to eat, only looking back up at her when she moved her foot away. She feared the teasing would have to be put to rest until Katie asked her for help. Again, a smirk played on her lips as she looked up. “I’d love to give you a hand,” she repeated, eagerly getting up and following Katie towards the kitchen. As her back slammed against the pantry, she let out a soft grunt. “Feisty. Even in this sweater…” she murmured, her hands starting at her hips and moving up and down her sides. She didn’t turn her away as she leaned in, only kissing her back just as roughly as she had began. As if it had been years since they kissed ( and it might as well have been ), Grace didn’t hold back. Her hand moved through her hair, roughly tugging on strands while the other hand moved to her ass, gripping it momentarily before she moved her hand to her thigh, pulling it up to her own waist. She missed Katie’s body so much, and if all they could have was this kiss, she wasn’t going to let that go unnoticed. Her hips bounced from the pantry door, crashing into hers. The hand on her thigh moved towards the inside, only lightly rubbing her between her legs for a quick moment before the hand moved up her sweater. Turning her head to the other side, she deepened the kiss, but only briefly before she pulled away. “Maybe you should show me your old high school room. I’d love to see all your little trophies and memorabilia,” she teased, biting her lip as she stared back at Katie.
“Shut up, Grace,” she retorted with faint smirk drew at her lips. “Only with you,” she added earnestly. In most respects Katie was guarded sexually. In the several months the two were together, she'd come out of her skin. That extended into this moment. Neither Jake nor Drew had this impact on her. Katie never craved them in this way. It was hard to remain quiet as their lips moved together. Her hands bunched up the Grace's shirt. Nails raked over her back; gently acquainted themselves with her hips. Her own involuntarily move against her-- her hand, too. Out of breath, she stared at her. “Another time,” she promised, not even noticing what she'd said. It seemed so instinctual. Contemplating the consequences-- the recklessness of her option, Katie couldn't believe herself. “The washroom is closer,” she nervously answered. This all could end up blowing up in her face, but god she craved Grace's touch just as she needed to touch her. Only a couple of months had passed since their last encounter, and it might as well have been an eternity. Silently, she pulled them into the downstairs bathroom. “We have to be quick...” Not that she needed the extra push, or commentary-- it was more for herself. Fumbling with the clasp of Grace’s pants, she pulled her back into a kiss.
Grace gritted her teeth as soon as she felt Katie kick her. Keeping her eyes on her mother, she nodded along. Turning back to Katie, she squinted her eyes. “No time at all?” she questioned, shrugging her shoulders and leaving it at that rather than taking it a few steps further as she easily could have. She would leave that to torture Katie as she waited for her to drop the bomb – though she wouldn’t. She had enough decency for that. Glancing back up at her as her foot trailed along her leg, she did her best to hold back a smirk. She continued the motion, but although it was just to tease Katie, it was getting to her, too. She suddenly regretted not sitting right next to Katie, where she could allow her hands to do the teasing – if that were the case, there would have been no mercy given at all. Quickly turning her head to look at Mrs. Matlin, she shrugged her shoulders. “Oh, no, no. Relationships aren’t for me. Kind’ve a waste of time, if you ask me. Some people can just get so selfish when it comes to that kind of commitment,” she answered nonchalantly, taking another bite of her food as her foot moved upward, catching the inside of her knee and pushing it to the side, widening Katie’s legs, though that was as far as she could reach. Glancing up at Katie, she hoped she could read her eyes – eyes that read how badly she wanted her but didn’t at all.
Katie made a mental note to not come home for the holidays. Apparently she was no longer capable of trusting her sister. Instinctively, her eyes rolled-- and her gaze raised in anticipation. It proved more challenging than she'd thought. Honing in on her words, she tried ignoring a wave of lust. Lightheaded, she had given up on trying to eat, or much else. “Selfish? What is that supposed to mean? Maybe if you could actually show that you care--” she swallowed, realizing she had spoken far too much. Between the topic of discussion-- and Grace's wandering-- Katie felt she'd explode at any moment. However, it wouldn't quite be in the way she wanted. Unable take it any longer, she knocked Grace's foot away. “I think it's dessert time,” she weakly announced. Getting up from the table, she glanced between her ex and the sister. Throwing caution at the wind, she turned towards Grace. “Can you give me a hand?” Her mother protested, but she convinced her that the other wasn't really a guest since they saw each other daily. It was a lie-- the hundredth for that evening, but again she didn't mind. Once out of sight, she gently shoved Grace against the pantry door. “You have to stop,” she demanded in a fit of hypocrisy. Katie's were saying two different things as they collided with the younger girl's.
“Cute. Family traditions. How sweet,” she muttered in a dull tone, knowing very well that being in a close-knit family atmosphere might just make her feel worse about her own situation, but she wasn’t going to let that bother her. She had bigger issues to deal with now – like the girl standing in front of her. Tilting her head as she heard the comment she had made, she couldn’t help laugh again. “We’re friends, Katie. Get over it.” Following her inside, she gave Maya the appropriate greeting, quickly catching up as she tried to ignore the fact that Katie was weighing her every thought. When the dinner was ready, Grace took a seat directly across from Katie. She remained quiet for the most part, only answering the Matlin’s questions when they attempted to make small talk with her. Though as they asked Katie about her relationship status, Grace quickly perked up. Her head tilted, a small smirk forming on her lips. “Oh, the boy you were dating last year?” she questioned, letting out a small chuckle. “I remember seeing you with him. So head over heals, really, it was–” she stopped, glancing around the table. “–well, I’m sorry you gave up on him. You seemed really happy. But.. I’m sure you’ll find someone else,” she spoke, gulping as she looked at Katie once more before taking another bite of her food. While she might have been playing it off like she had all the control, she was getting heated. Under the table, she lifted her foot up, searching for Katie’s leg. Once she found it, her foot slowly ran up and down her leg, all the while she focused on the food in front of her.
As Grace spoke up, she immediately kicked her beneath the table. A threatening glare was thrown her way. Her face flushed, and her mother wore a questioning expression. Seemingly fine, she gave the woman a reassuring grin. “I was not head over heels.” She and Grace both knew she was lying. Gulping once more, she went for her napkin. As to avert attention from herself, she wiped her mouth. “Like I told my mom, I don't have time.” Another lie, of course. In all honesty, she didn't mind lying to her parents-- not about this. What she had felt about however was lying about Aurelie-- in front of Grace. It didn't seem right, but that was the least wrong with everything. Taking a sip of her drink, she nearly choked. Thankful that everyone's attention had fallen elsewhere, she focused on herself; or she tried. It was impossible with her current distraction. Glancing up at her, Grace seemed so unfazed. She cleared her throat. In return her grandmother offered her so water. “I'm fine,” she managed, remaining completely stiff. Subconsciously, she began biting her lip, now unable to focus the delicious meal. “So, Grace-- what about you,” her mom asked, returning to the previous conversation. “Are you dating anyone? Perhaps someone with a good head on their shoulders-- unlike than Zig.” The latter was more than likely said in jest, but it warranted a protest from the younger Matlin. The older though kept her eyes trained on her plate.
Winter break was something that excited nearly every student – at least those who Grace came in contact with, but she wasn’t part of it. Breaks meant going home to family, and that was the last place Grace ever wanted to be. She could barely even call it a “home” – it was the least inviting place she had ever been. She hadn’t even planned to come home at all until Maya and Tiny begged her to come see them. When Maya extended the offer to spend Christmas with them, though, Grace wasn’t sure that would be the best option. She knew Katie would be there, and whether or not she would have brought her new girlfriend made it even more risky. Though Grace always found anything more entertaining when she had the upper hand – and to show up unannounced to Katie, she knew she would have it. In the best case scenario, she could walk in nonchalantly and sit down next to Katie, watching her completely come undone at the sight of her. But that thought was pushed aside as soon as Katie was the one who appeared on the other side of the door. Taking a step back and looking up and down Katie’s body, she brought her hand to her mouth and began laughing. “Wow, Matlin. So festive,” she teased her, shaking her head as she watched the door close behind her. Lifting her arms up in an exaggerated shrug, she kept the smile on her face. “What? I’m tried of the campus servery’s food. I’m guessing you’ve got something good cooking in there–” she said, standing up on her tip-toes and trying to peak through the windows. “Maya begged me to come,” she finally said, speaking seriously now. “Don’t get a big head. I’m not here for you.”
Azure hues drifted downward. The sweater was in no way making this predicament better. Going against what she'd initially thought-- she cared. She knew Grace well enough to know she'd never let her live this down. For pretenses alone, she rolled her eyes. “It's tradition,” she replied, no longer thrilled about the turn out. Obstinately, her arms crossed, and she continued with her endeavor to block the door. “I'm going to kill her,” she murmured through gritted teeth. Swallowing hard, Katie grasped for some sort levelness. Nothing “Just act like you have some manners,” she huffed, letting her gaze take in the reality of the situation-- or rather Grace. She looked great, as always. Not saying anything else, she turned around and let the both of them back inside. At that particular moment, Maya came down stairs. “I'm glad you could make it,” she commented, a smirk tugged at her lips as she glanced between the two. Katie could only glare at her before she moved away from them. “I'll put the food out,” Katie muttered, making her way into the kitchen to just that. Distracted with the task, she allowed herself to calm down. Once all the food was in its place, she took her seat at the table. For however long, she refused to look at Grace. It wasn't until her mother inquired about her relationship status that she'd finally allowed herself to look at her. “Uh, you know-- I don't really have time to date. I need to focus on my classes.” Her mother's brows raised skeptically, throwing Katie for a loop. “That's funny,” the woman began. “You seemed to make time last year. I could have sworn you were dating that boy in your dorm, honey.” Gulping, she averted her gaze; fixating on the table. Shoveling food into her mouth, she didn't look at Grace or Maya. “We broke up. We just wanted different things,” Katie simply said.
