It wasnβt screamed. There was no punctuate β-ttebayo!β at the end of it. It was soft, and gentle. The breeze rustled the leaves of a nearby tree.
One word halted Sasuke in his tracks so sharply it was as though he had run head first into a wall.
Naruto, usually a man of many stupid words, had managed to completely derail Sasuke with just one.
It was the middle of the night and Sasuke was standing at the edge of Konohagakure, just about to pass the gates when he had heard a person, Naruto, drop down almost silently behind him.
He honestly shouldnβt be surprised.
No one ever lets him leave this damn village in peace.
He turned to look at the blond who was standing anxiously before him and looking everywhere, it seemed, besides Sasuke.
Sasuke followed his eyes. Naruto looked at the trees, the roof tops of the newly constructed buildings, the faces of the Hokage on the mountain. His fatherβs face. Fuck. Fuck.
Sasuke wanted to walk right up to the blond idiot and yank his chin back to face him.
Donβt you look away from me now.
