there will always be a calling with your name on it. always. maybe not today. maybe not next week. maybe not while you’re sitting in that uncomfortable posture staring at the your screen, disassociated, mourning the person you used to be at 17, back when the future felt ENORMOUS. but eventually something will tap you on the shoulder and you’ll have the epiphany: a book or a person. some city. could be the literal wind before a storm, a random stranger smiling. a patch of saturated light on the floor.
but eventually something will look directly at you, it’ll hold you by your face and lock eyes with you and in the most electric way possible scream at you: “YOU NEED TO GET UP. WE ARE NOT DONE YET”
I've decided to start writing a series of poems for each month of the year. Each one being a reflection of feelings I associate with each month. I plan to eventually publish the entire year as a collection
Anyway, here's June:
roald dahl was antisemitic and misogynistic. george orwell was openly homophobic. edgar allan poe married his 13 year old cousin. dr seuss cheated on his wife (and was racist as well as antisemitic!). hp lovecraft was racist as fuck. anyways they’re fucking dead it’s not like you’re enabling their behaviors in the afterlife or something. then again I think they bleed into the books so uh keep an eye out for that
the difference between these old white guys and jk rowling is that the former group is all dead. jk rowling is alive and using your money to oppress trans people
why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
Oh hey post of Ozymandius, good to see you again standing on your feet in a desert where no one remembers you
Happy pride and man mental health

Tomorrow I'm writing about the Christian-Evangelicalism drive to think in absolutes, the whole Satanic Panic scare of the '80s and '90s and how that fed into QAnon and what drove MAGA to connect so hard with the Epstein Files, and the idolatry they're doing for Donald Trump - and how that's also reflected in how so many of us in the anti-Trump crowd treat MAGA-folk as irredeemable. Interesting stuff, at least for me. David French has a really good piece on a less extreme version of this topic that's well worth reading.
Anywho, I'm sharing some LOTR scenes from the final struggle between Frodo and Gollum in Mount Doom as part of that, which means I had to watch them, and I was reminded of how Gandalf brought three eagles to rescue them. He was hoping against hope he'd get to save Gollum, too.
The world is still quite bad and it's hard to hold on to hope, but I'm telling you, that detail meant something.
I can't wait to be alive with you.
Good news: you can make the world a better place but you have to actually go out and do it. Volunteering, helping your neighbor out, picking up a bit of trash in public, giving up your seat, carrying extra food, etc. even little things.
The other good news is that apparently when people witness acts of kindness, it inspires them to act as well.

Imagine how many great, weird, awesome stories would exist if writers actually wrote instead of scrolling on tumblr
