“If this isn’t a good time, we can reschedule.” Lance tried to keep the frustration out of his voice. He understood the nature of scientific research, and how it was frequently a hurry-up-and-wait sort of process where there was little control over when you would need to give it your attention. But it had been difficult enough to schedule this meeting in the first place, and there was no point in having it if Blaine wasn’t able to attend to it fully.
Not that it was a meeting he was looking forward to having in the first place … He heaved a sigh, frowning. He didn’t look forward to putting it off longer, either, but that might be the only option. “What is it that you’re working on?”
“Of course it is a good time sir.”
Blaine replied in the same exact- unfazed tone, now he is moving away from the microscope and headed to the computer by his side. Typying something on the loud keyboard, at a very fast pace as well.
The elderly man still won’t look at his superior.
“What happens to a pokemon’s genetic formation when they mega evolve?”
The gym leader asked in a rhetorical manner, despite voicing it as though he expected Lance to answer him- the scientist seemed to have even given him a brief moment to try and come up with something.
“This is what I’m working on Lance. At the moment my research is still at its early stages, this is why I’m telling you it is a good time to talk.”
