@katydidz
being caught off-guard by rain during a walk sucks for obvious reasons but it always makes me want to have an extra look around for wet animals. this Aelia acuminata didn't take long to get covered in artistic little droplets magnifying its pattern, and i figured i'd be doing it a disservice if i didn't take a photo - it never knew it looked so pretty but at least i did

This sick bleach shirt I made. Something to showcase my undying love for prehistoric cave art.
Some of the bleach burned thru the shirt bc this was my first time bleaching anything ever, but it kinda adds to it.
North American Spur-throated Grasshoppers (Genus Melanoplus), nymphs, taken May 23, 2026, in Georgia, US
A couple little grasshoppers hiding amongst the leaves of a marigold patch! These flowers, planted as pest deterrent in a garden, were attracting all sorts of bugs, most notably jumping spiders and grasshoppers. The jumping spiders were on the lookout for unsuspecting little bugs, but the grasshoppers were likely using the dense foliage as cover from predators. Being a little grasshopper is scary, and a vegetable garden is about as close to a nursery as they'll get in the wild. Eventually, they'll move into the grassy fields, but they'll take cover in this safe(er) space for now!
