Donovan came to, unable to move his hands. He needed his hands for multiple things, so that was concerning.

The next, perhaps more concerning thing, was that he was definitely in one of the manor basements. The eastern one, if he had to guess from the water stains on the walls.

A shadow moved from the dark corner, and materialised into Jeeves. His suit jacket was off, sleeves rolled up to expose veiny forearms. His face was devoid of any readable expression.

"What is the meaning of this?" Donovan inquired calmly. "Is that a strike for better work conditions?"

"I swore to protect mistress Melinda and master Demetrius," the approximation of a human being said in a calm measured voice.

Desmond felt chills crawling up his spine.

"But you weren't concerned with protecting them, were you?"

OK but! butlers are often used for the trope of 'yes I see everything that goes on here but am sworn to secrecy by the code of buttling or whatever lol'. I never thought about this, but we all know Endo loves a trope..... hmmmmmmmmm how much does our sexy mysterious butler know???

I can't shake the feeling that Sylvia is much gentler toward all of the female agents. She visits Fiona in the hospital, something she never does for Loid. When Fiona disobeys orders, Sylvia doesn't punish her, whereas a male agent was immediately pinned against the wall and given a strict order. I'm not trying to say that she hates men, but could this attitude possibly be connected to the loss of her daughter?

Ohhhh I never really clocked this! Interesting. I can't think of any other female agents besides Nightfall off the top of my head, though. I probably just assumed she had a soft spot for Fiona herself rather than equating it with her gender. I guess I'd have to see more of them to really say.

HOWEVER this era was like the heyday of openly accepted misogyny in the workplace and I'm sure being in charge as a woman was extremely tiring for Sylvia to say the least. I mean, a lot of men probably straight out refused to take orders from her I would bet. So I'm not saying she's right to be meaner to men. But I imagine she could interact with the female agents in a civil manner but got used to having to act more "masculine" when interacting with her male subordinates to be taken seriously by them.
