My SxF Writing

When I first got into Spy x Family I had no idea I would write so many fics for it! Keeping track of it has gotten a bit unwieldy so here is a masterlist.

Completed Works

Orpheus: 350K words, mole hunt arc canon divergence fic where Yuri is critically injured in the sewers, leading to catastrophic consequences for Twilight. The fic I'm proudest of, and the most personally meaningful.

From Ostania with Love: Orpheus universe, comedy fic where years later, Twilight and Yor watch a Hollywood movie about themselves.

In the Sunlight: Orpheus universe, one-shot where Twilight and Yor recover their intimacy after the traumatic events near the end of Orpheus.

Form: My first fic in the SxF fandom! An identity reveal one-shot on how Twilight and Yor view each other before and after their truths come to light.

Tummy Troubles: Crack fic where Twilight embarrasses himself in the worst way in front of his cover family, only to find he is loved and accepted regardless.

What Friends Are For: Crack fic where Twilight begrudgingly helps Franky learn how to date by disguising himself as an attractive woman.

Every Stitch a Memory: One-shot where Loid intends to donate Anya's old clothes, unintentionally evoking sad memories for Yor and bringing her conflicted feelings about her "fake" husband to the surface.

Not With A Bang: Sequel one-shot to Every Stitch a Memory where Twilight and Yor come clean to each other.

Air: AU one-shot (for now?) where Twilight and Thorn Princess meet on the job.

Heaven’s Knife: One-shot for Twiyor Fluff Weekend 2024. Yor and Loid attend Camilla’s wedding pre-reveal, and experience a series of firsts.

Of Christmas Future: Three-part Christmas fic where Anya and Franky stage a Bondman-themed play to cheer Twilight up for the holidays.

Good for Goodness' Sake: Three-part Christmas fluff fic where Franky finds a job as a mall elf to make some cash! Crazy shenanigans ensue! (Gift for @juuyeah)

From the Seabed: One-shot spinoff of @unhappy-sometimes' fic After peace. Twilight struggles with caring for Anya and the memories of his own childhood that she evokes.

Served Warm: Shorter multi-chap fic that diverges from canon during Yuri's first visit to the Forger home. Yor kisses Loid and works through her regret and conflicted feelings over time.

Exceptional: Two-part fic where Anya brings home her first report card and Yuri ruins the celebratory mood, leaving Twilight to reassure his daughter and wife. (Gift for @buf309)

Remain: Fan sequel of @unhappy-sometimes' Follow, where Twilight learns to grieve and move on from Yor's death.

Third Party Observer: Crack fic where Twilight struggles to explain Yor's feats of strength to Handler during a debrief in the park. (Secret Santa for @unhappy-sometimes)

Before Forever: Fan continuation of @unhappy-sometimes' After peace, where Loid and Yor navigate the beginning of their relationship in early retirement and peacetime.

Unworthy Eyes: Exploration of Twilight's slow slide into compromise as he observes his family from a distance throughout canon.

Part of the Family: Yuri begrudgingly tries to hang out with Loid after the TV tower arc and realizes he might not be such a bad guy after all.

“Death by maggots” is referring to how Nightfall almost died in a roadkill pit in Orpheus. Better or worse than a Shellbury sewer?

A Spy x Family TwiYor Analysis

Until he meets Yor Briar, Twilight has deliberately chosen never to let anyone see a crack in the carefully constructed facade he wears as a spy. He lives in isolation—thinking in private, feeling in private, breaking down in private. He has convinced himself that isolation is not only necessary—it's survival.

But Operation Strix demands something entirely different. To succeed, he has to convincingly become a devoted husband and loving father, and from the very beginning, that role begins to chip away at the walls he's spent years building. You can't be a truly present husband and father while keeping the people closest to you locked out. And no matter how skilled he is, no one can maintain a performance every waking moment.

That's where Yor becomes so important. Her kindness, patience, encouragement, quiet thoughtfulness, and endearing sincerity are the perfect antidote to the emotional fortress Twilight has built around himself. Little by little, she creates a space where the man behind the mask can finally begin to exist.

Twilight absolutely trusts his fellow agents with his life—but that's very different from trusting them with himself. They'll never see him unguarded, emotionally vulnerable, or genuinely struggling. Those parts of him remain carefully hidden behind the identity of "Twilight."

We see this repeatedly throughout the series. When Handler casually asks whether he enjoyed his vacation with his family, he immediately brushes the question aside, insisting he couldn't possibly have enjoyed himself at all—a response that earns nothing more than an amused smile from Handler, who seems to recognize the denial for what it is.

Even after Wheeler leaves him battered and barely conscious, Twilight instinctively slips back into the role of the stoic protector, focusing on taking care of Nightfall despite having been unconscious only moments before.

It's almost reflexive. No matter how exhausted, injured, or emotionally shaken he may be, Twilight's first instinct is always to put the mask back on. Competence is the only version of himself he allows his colleagues to see.

As Twilight learns to navigate life as both a husband and a father, it's Yor's quiet persistence and unwavering sincerity that begin to wear away the walls he's spent a lifetime constructing. Like a stream slowly smoothing stone, her kindness doesn't break through his defenses all at once—it patiently reshapes them until the man hidden behind the mask can finally begin to emerge.

The transformation is both gradual and surprisingly swift. No single moment changes him; instead, it's the accumulation of a thousand small choices—every word of encouragement, every act of trust, every quiet moment of acceptance—that invites Yor deeper into the parts of himself he's never allowed anyone else to see.

This is the beauty of their love story: it isn't defined by dramatic confessions, but by the countless quiet moments that allow two fiercely guarded people to become each other's home. Their romance is built on the safety to be vulnerable—the willingness to let the other care for them in ways neither had ever believed they deserved or even knew were possible.

It's this feeling of home—and the quiet gravity of Yor becoming his safe place—that stirs something in Twilight he hasn't felt since childhood. Ever since losing his mother, "home" has been less of a place than a memory. He's survived by convincing himself he doesn't need one.

But now, almost against his will, his heart is being drawn toward the very thing it's been missing all along: someone waiting for him at the end of the day, someone who sees him, cares for him, and offers him the kind of rest he's never known as an adult.

It's no wonder the lines between duty and desire begin to blur. The certainty he once relied on is giving way to something far more human. The result is complicated, messy, and wonderfully rewarding to watch unfold.

One of which, of course, being The Signal and the Smoke, an intriguing and well researched (and in my opinion under-loved) rare pair romance between Sylvia Sherwood and a certain scarred SSS member who shall not yet be named, lmao.

So I commissioned the amazing @cosmicdraghon to make this lovely comic of a scene that really stuck with me (plus a surprise 😉). Where in Sylvia receives a postcard from her lover, yerns much to her dismay, and reflects on some important mementos from her past as a spy. It is short, but I found it very effective in building on Sylvia’s past and emphasizing her ongoing conflict.
