Yoosung laughed again and gave a shrug of his shoulders. “I’m sure there will come a time when I wish I still had my fast… what’s it called… meta… something. And karma will kick my ass.” He joked. The topic of parents was a sensitive one and definitely not something the blond enjoyed talking about, nor did he want to. “I know for a fact that I’ll be a better parent than my own parents.” Did he really know that, though? With how damaged he was, how easily he lost his temper sometimes – would it be responsible of him to have kids? He knew he’d want to protect them at all costs, but could he trust himself not to lose himself?
He was quiet for a moment, letting his friend’s words sink in. Nearly even spilled his biggest secret, just to prove a point. But, no, he hadn’t even told Skylar the full truth about his past and this was a bad time to start opening up about it. “People do fucked up things. They’re selfish and they make mistakes. If this guy left you for your sister, he never deserved you in the first place. And I know that sounds like a fucking standard thing to say, but you’re clearly the better person here.”
He paused, his gaze on his brushes as he briefly licked his lips. “I know… it can be hard not to blame yourself for shit that happens to you. Especially when people tell you it’s your fault. But we move on and we come back stronger than before. We learn and don’t allow anyone to hurt us like that again. And… even if it feels like there’s wounds that will never heal, some day you will find someone who will love you exactly as you are and those wounds will simply be a part of you, so much so that you’ll remember that you were whole all this time and no one has the right to ever make you feel any different.”
“All of a sudden you’ll wake up round as a beach ball.” She teased with a nod before laughing softly. “I’m lucky....my parents were great. I know not everyone is lucky, but I love my parents. Right now my mother is being a pain in the arse but...” She trailed off with a sigh, her fingers toying with the ends of her hair.
“I still can’t wrap my head around why though. We were together for nearly seven years and then on the day of the goddamn wedding...” She let out a shaky sigh and sank into the seat a little. “But hey, knocked his tooth out the next time I saw him, the only time I saw him after that....they put it back though” She said quickly in defense, but the pride was still evident.
“I don’t think a romance like that is in the cards for me again.” She shook her head. “After all those years spent thinking someone is the one and planning the whole future....it kind of just wrecks the whole prospect of going through that again.” She chewed her lip.
