Ed and Lorraine Warren with Annabelle, the doll. Best couple ever.

Ever since Chicago ushered the movie-musical back to the big screen with panache, the song-and-dance genre has had a bumpy road in Hollywood (here’s lookin’...
I couldn't help but share this article! This site showcases houses inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy. I wonder what architects will think of next...
Out of all the books I read that have been made into movies, I have to say for the most part I have been pretty disappointed. I'll admit, I was pretty nervous about watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I had this preconceived notion that it would be a let down compared to the book, which happened to be one of my favorites. Wow, was I wrong. As soon as the movie started I was shocked about how much it matched with the visual I created in my mind while reading the book. Literally everything from the color palette to the actors was so spot on I couldn't even believe it.
Ironic though that as I was watching it with friends, they could not stop saying "this is not what I expected." I guess the trailer didn't really let on that the movie was pretty dark. In my opinion, dark but beautiful. My point is, you really have to get past the negatives and see the overall message of the movie. Enjoy the moments that make you happy, and always remember that you are not alone.
Amazing book and amazing movie, I recommend both to everyone.
Love,
A Fellow Wallflower
I am officially in love with Daenery. I've always liked her story but finally she's coming back to the foreground. I really hope she can speak the leader of the slave army's language. And once she is in command of the warriors, orders them to kill him and take back her dragon!
On the other hand, the Seven Kingdoms plot lines are getting jumbled and confusing in my opinion. Not much has progressed either. I wonder if the show is struggling to include everything necessary in the hour episode... They were able to stay with Jon Snow a bit more than usual but in turn didn't even touch base with other favorite characters. We find the remains of a battlefield and discover that the dead are preparing to march south towards the Wall, giving us a hint of where the story is headed as well. As for the Night's Watch, I'm excited but nervous to see where Samwell's story goes with the newborn son.
Did anyone else find this episode a lot funnier?? My favorite was Tyrion setting Podrick up with the prostitutes that didn't want the money. XD
Jaime and Brienne's relationship was disappointing until now. I see the respect building as Jaime helps rescue Brienne from the men. But we also get a vivid reminder that any of our favorite characters can be killed off or maimed at this point. Don't forget Ned Stark.
For some reason, I have no patience for Theon Greyjoy. Granted, I did not want him raped but can we not focus on him much longer? I guess every story needs a character like him: selfish, ignorant, and somewhat sympathetic.
I bet writing this series has been a challenge. Who needs more attention? What plot is lacking? And how do we make it all add up to climax at the same time?? In the seven Kingdoms, there's just too many elements coming together to keep track. Regardless, this is only the third episode and there's still plenty of time to progress. ;)
Winter is Coming
I missed the Game of Thrones episode last night, but I recorded it so expect a review soon!
After all the hype about Life of Pi, I had to borrow it from a friend to see for myself. In conclusion, I think there must be a lot of jealous haters out there. This movie was emotional, visual, and entertaining. It actually reminded me of Big Fish with the grandiose tale and magical plot.
I heard this was the book that could never be a movie. Kudos to everyone involved on this film! It was beautiful. Who would've thought a movie with one character and a tiger in the middle of the ocean would be so entertaining. Wish I would've seen it in IMAX 3D!
I was pleased to see this film make an animal with so many human features/emotions and yet never stop being wild. For sure groundbreaking for visual effects in the industry. After hearing the heartbreaking news about the Visual Effects company, I truly hope their Oscar can help rekindle their careers and reputations.
Suraj Sharma had never acted before this film. It may have the the most believable performance I've seen in awhile. And to think, most of the time the tiger wasn't even there!
This movie will leave a lasting impression on you. It'll make you think, maybe make you cry, and most of all make you have faith.
The Evil Dead
I watched as tons of die hard fans piled into the midnight showing of the new rendition of the cult classic, The Evil Dead. I'm not really a horror movie fan, but I just had to see what all of the hype was about. What I came to find was that this was one of the most entertaining horror films I have ever seen. This sick and twisted story was all about the jump scare. Needless to say, I was pretty much in the fetal position for the entire duration of the film. It was uncomfortable and grotesque. I had to cover my eyes to make it passed the mass amounts of gore that overpowered every scene. I'm sure it was a great movie if blood and guts spewing out everywhere is your thing and all. Its just not for me.
In retrospect, this movie wasn’t as scary as I thought during the initial viewing. The more I thought about it, the more humorous it became. There was a story but it was so stereotypical of the classic horror genre that the film feels more nostalgic than terrifying. I'm definitely not a fan of the gore, but at least I wasn’t so terrified that I couldn’t fall asleep at night!
Wreck it Ralph is somewhat similar to an actual video game with its high-energy action sequences. It gives you immediate thrills but does not forget the importance of storytelling. The underlying message combined with Ralph’s determination to be a better person forces you to have honest feelings for this animated character. This arcade world, created by Disney, is extremely detailed. It's almost as id so you're in a video game yourself.
The ending may not surprise you, but kids will be thrilled and may beg to visit Chuckie Cheese by the end. If you’re looking for a family day at the movies, it’s safe to say at the least you will be amused and left feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
If nothing else, I'd say “Jack Reacher” is entertaining. The plot is intricate and structured well enough to keep an audience on its toes guessing what will come next. The dialogue, however, seemed like it would be better fit to a 90’s action film. I'm pretty sure I laughed at times I wasn't supposed to.
Although Tom Cruise does not posses the physical qualities of Jack Reacher in the novel version, he was the best choice for the role. His natural persona and experience with action thrillers equated to a cool, macho character that had more intelligence than I would have expected.
Jack Reacher is a sure money-maker with a cliff hanging, killer ending. I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a substantial franchise. If you’re looking for that unique cutting edge film of the year, this is not it. But if you’re looking to enjoy a crime solving roller coaster full of mystery and adventure with one of Hollywood’s leading men, it’s a go!
I may not be a huge television watcher, but Game Of Thrones is one show I can't stop watching. A bit late to the series, I am finally caught up! Not sure if it's the intertwining plots that you're afraid of losing track of, but not one of my friends spoke the whole episode (quite a rare occurrence).
Season 3: Episode 2 "Dark Wings, Dark Words"
For people like me who have not read the books, things just got even more complicated. I already find myself making nicknames for people to keep up with everyone and which side they below to, but last night added a bunch of new, but very important characters!
We met Margaery's mother. I must say I'm excited for the Tyrells to rival the Lannisters. Margaery is shaping into one of my favorite characters: smart, sneaky, and sweet. I'm sure Cersei won't tolerate her for long. We also met the Reeds. I'm still waiting an explanation for who they are and what they mean to do, but they seem extremely important. I'm glad they threw in the bit about Wargs, paying off Bran's dreams. We met Thoros. This character doesn't seem all that important to me for some reason. But I am dying to know what will happen to Arya since the Hound announced her identity!
As for old faces, here are my thoughts: Should Sansa be hopeful? Should she trust Littefinger? Although she's a pain, I do hope her story progresses for the best next week. Finally a good match for Jaime: Brienne. Woman power, right there! Can we kill Theon already? I think they tried to make me pity him with his childhood and recent reception back into his family, but he is scum and I have no desire to see him live. Jon Snow needs to do something soon. I have this deep-seated hope for him to be a big hero, but I'm just waiting and waiting... The romance seemed to be lacking last night. My favorite couple, Tyrion and Shae annoyed me with her jealousy towards Tyrion's past "flings." Lastly, please tell me I'm not the only one who can only think of Draco Malfoy as Joffrey?
In conclusion: more people, more cryptic alliances, and more great episodes to come! Let me know if I'm off with anything and what you thought about last night's episode!
Lincoln
If you are looking for vampires, you are watching the wrong movie about Abraham Lincoln. Steven Spielberg's historical biopic of Lincoln is one of the greatest movies I have seen all year. Some may argue that because it has many factors playing against it including a 160 minute run time, very wordy 18th century dialog and hardly any action scenes. True, this film is very much a historical drama, but in the best way! If you are able to appreciate the immense amount of detail and historical accuracy that went into making it, you'll enjoy it.
In fact, this movie shines light on some of the greatest parts of history many of us have never been taught. The film starts after the Gettysburg Address and spans over the two years Abraham Lincoln spent trying his hardest to get the 13th Amendment passed. We gain a new perspective on the civil war as Spielberg engages us in all of the politics and motives behind the wars itself. We see and understand how Lincoln was considered to be one of the most hated presidents in his time and watch as the war itself consumes his life, making him grow old and weak at such a young age. We are tied to this man emotionally, through every stressful moment and lighthearted story he tells. I gained such an introverted perspective on Lincoln's life, something that I have never experienced before. Daniel Day Lewis is a genius and deserves every award he can get for this performance.
Apparently Steven Spielberg is even capable of making American History magic.
It might not look like a $1.5 million dollar home from the outside, but what you cant see is that this house is actually built in a cave! Check out some of the photos that show the inside of the house! There is even a pool built into the mountainside! The price tag might be a little much, but I just think this is such an interesting way to live!
Well, my friends are big horror movie fans and decided to rent The Collection. If you liked the Saw movies, you'll like this. It's definitely a gory, terrifying thriller with an interesting story. I couldn't understand why the plot was so vague until someone mentioned it was a sequel (The Collector)! I honestly had no idea.
Basically, this serial killer massacres large crowds, always taking one survivor for his collection. His home is a giant maze of gruesome traps and impressive effects. The acting wasn't half bad for a typical horror movie but there was no back story to the main character, so I couldn't care less if she had survived.
I'm not one for horror movies, but if you like the Saw movies, you'll like this. There isn't much more to say about it except how they teased about a third film in the epilogue. So stay tuned...
