SONG TITLES

Me thinking about how Barb’s last words to Nancy (right before she hooks up with Steve) are  “this isn’t you”. So at the end of the season 1, at christmas ,she cuddles with Steve (after having a moment with Jonathan) and the song is called “this isn’t you”. As very obvious foreshadowing st*ncy won’t work out.

And the song  “first I love you” plays only 2x in s3. When gay robin rejects steve’s romantic confession & when El says she loves Mike and he doesn’t kiss her back and keeps his eyes open (in front of an open closet) .El holding Will’s bear, in Will’s room-after Mike had a moment with Will and he references Christmas. Or the fact the s3 song is a sped up version of the s2 song “the first lie” which played during the s2 j*ncy kiss where they lie to eachother about not having romantic feelings (cause M*leven is the opposite: saying they have romantic feelings when they don’t -aka the love is a lie) .”

Nothing to see here- we’re just over-reading how song titles foreshadow things. yep . Not like titles haven’t hinted things before with the ships XD

Visual storytelling...

It's almost like they're trying to tell us something. Demogorgan called "deep father" (in d&d) . Will uses lonnie's gun - and is attacked in lonnie's shed and it zooms in on light bulb. Jonathan when developing creepy photos has it zoom in on red light bulb and then it trasitions to the lights Will uses to communicate. And Steve says jonathan is like his dad and that the photography was "hardwired into him". Lonnie and Jonathan fighting and "for no reason" they open Jonathan's closet and turn on the light bulb so the light bulb can be in a shot with Lonnie in frame for literally 2 minutes straight.

Lonnie saying "someone should be held accountable " for what happened to Will. Immediately transitions between lonnie nailing a piece of wood being compared to opening portals to other dimensions and then Mike stabbing a paper and saying "that's what must have happened (to Will)." And you know in this same episode mr clarke says these portals are created by " necrotic (cough zombie boy Will) and shadow (mf ) magic".

Cough lonnie being an ab*sive shit is why Will's subconscious is creating all this chaos.

If Joyce dies do you think after that there will be a flashback scene of her and Will kinda like with Billy and his mom?? Cause honestly if that happened I would burst into tears deadass.

There probably would be a lot of flashbacks. it would parallel Joyce having a flashback of Will- at Will's funeral. Heck Joyce also had a flashback of Bob after his death. So seems like a common story beat . If they went that route 😭

Also, its winona ryder ...they're going to use her as much as they can . So whatever her fate (dead or alive) they'll use her as much as possible. Like in Neverending story (reffed in s3) the kid with powers/a bowl cut would have dreams about his dead mom etc .

Well if someone, in s4,who is part of the main cast dies (although death is weird in st). I suspect Joyce. I already did a whole post ( from my og account) explaining why.

Aw, thanks I appreciate it. It’s a bummer losing most of my followers/direct access to my old posts (possibly permanently). But nothing is going to stop me from analyzing st. lmao.

any thoughts on the leaked set photos showing a ‘central indiana blood drive’? seems like an interesting tidbit

Well nothing in the movies hint at the blood drive. But, given how s3 hinted they would touch upon the (80s- christian) “satanic panic” movement , in s4. Which demonized alot of things -including d&D and gay men. And given the negative connotation of how gay men were banned from donating blood because of  paranoia over a*ds. It may be a way to show the homophobia of the town towards certain characters who are suspected of being queer-like maybe Mike? or older kids in the hellfire club?  Like one film on the st list (paradise lost) had the small town boys who were into rock music, wearing black,  into stephen king, etc- be demonized and have absurd rumors spread about them-like how they were gay and how their sexualities fueled their satanic powers and they were killing kids in the woods (what’s scary is it was a documentary). Another movie (kingsmen) also had a church scene where the pastor says God isn’t loving but vengeful and claimed the endtimes would punish certain people - gay men, athe*sts, democrats, pro-choicers, pro-science people, poc, etc (and uh he wasn’t subtle and used a lot of slurs in his rant). And one guy after hearing the sermon/applause is like yep “I’m gay” (love science, etc) “hail satan... and  have a lovely day.” And walks out.

Hey guys this is kaypeace21. I was (hopefully temporarily ) locked out of my original tumblr account. So for the time being I making a new account here. Some may be skeptical of my identity -for those who also follow my youtube channel. I did link new messages of my youtube channel “Stranger nerd” with this announcement (as 1 form of verification).

 And strangertheory, willthecleric, and hawkinsschoolcounscelor  (who I messaged often before this) . They verified my identity -since I gave them info they told me about themselves in private. And only the real kaypeace would know (since we dm-all the time).

Not going to lie dealing with covid ,alot of other life stuff, plus losing my account has been very stressful/emotionally draining. But I’m already doing my normal long analyses on this new account.

All of my followers know how much time, effort , creative passion, and love I put into my blog- so the possibility I may not get it back is really heart breaking tbh. (And starting at 0 followers when i was about to hit 3k is also incredibly depressing to me).

I may get my old account back so please don’t unfollow my original account (but it’s hard to say how long it’ll take to get back- if i’m lucky enough to get access again. which i’m leaning to the ‘not getting it back’ category tbh but lets hope for the best)  . But, it’s another reason why following here is important.

Haha in the game they also had 2 otherscenes: Mike running and tripping, and another of Mike swinging his sword trying to show off and stumbling/losing his breath I love how they call out my boy for being so inept lmao. XD

Possible film easteregg for st may foreshadow s4/5 interactions of Will &Lonnie.

While looking at all the films on the s4 st list that were in San Fernando (since it may be where the Byers move to according to leaks) . fyi: it was alot of the s4 films. I saw a movie ( not on the list ) that may have been inspo too.

* the colors and over all  design: mostly white. yellow lines on the legs/collars/and cuffs, matching yellow belts,hats,socks, and undershirts . The "bears" and "tigers " written in black on the front.   It SEEMS LIKE A FILM EASTERGG. I Wouldn't be surprised if this 70s film "bad news bears" was inspo. One baseball player in the film was even named Billy.I watched the remake/ original and both have a focus on 1 player and their ab*sive dad. In the original/ remake he left his family years ago and begs his kid to join his baseball team. In the original the reason he asks his kid to join is to make money off the baseball league he coaches- and he remembers how his kid was a good baseball player. Which if that doesn't sound like lonnie who literally tried to make money off Will's death. I don’t know what else does. Ofcourse, he wouldn’t be above explo*ting  Will to make money off of baseball. Uuugh. A lot of  the canon s4 movies also reference baseball too.

First encounter after years apart- he comes visit with no warning after not seeing them in years to ask them to join his baseball team. And the kid says no and to leave.

*love how in the og version she senses the money sh*t from a mile away (although I do wonder if Will knows about the money scam around his death or not? Or if it could just be in reference to his debts-which Joyce mentioned?). 

Than they discuss him abandoning the family .

Then he’s like yep “sorry I abandoned you” so anyways baseball...

When they say “no” he has the audacity to pull the ‘i fathered you so you “owe” me ‘   card ( literally right after the whole abandonment convo).  This is when the kids call him out for being a drunkard.

And the kids pretty much call him out for always being a sh*t dad even when around . Both films they call him out as drunk*rd but also list different reasons too.

*the rat ref is interesting cause although mf’s can control rats in d&d . The rat ref would then also connect to Will’s past like how pretty much all the supernatural connects to Will one way or another. The canon movies also had rat references-in relation to k*lling. This guy in this is a rat exterminator- so... yeah implications similar to Jonathan’s rabbit story too. Also, in the remake, right before seeing his kid again ( he talks about how lying is the best policy cause people prefer the lie over the truth) . The opposite of ‘friends don’t lie’  . The dad lists examples of lies he’s personally done “i used to do it all the time...  I don’t smoke...she told me she was 18″ can Lonnie just d*e PLEASE!!!)

In the remake after his kid  told him ‘ no’ and tell him to leave- he pretty much tries every other tactic to get his kid to join. Following them to work and asking constantly-and the kid  calls them a “st*lker” for doing so. (I’ve already mentioned how st*lking is meant to be bad when done in the st romances- so connecting it to Lonnie is pretty much a perfect way to establish that and show how creepy Lonnie is to Will in general). After pestering doesn’t work, he tries reverse psychology, bribes them with money for a car, and when they still say no. He pulls the woe is me card i’m so sad . And unfortunately the empathetic Will would fall for that- sigh. 

The original is different in the fact he tries other messed up tactics: after the first rejection . He comes again to see her and calls her fat -and when the kid says that not true . He’s like “well ...you will  eventually get fat ( unless you play  baseball)” . And then he goes on an on about how she won’t get hurt and to not be afraid. Her response to that- is that  she’s npt afraid and she just doesn’t want to play . 

Then he tries reverse psychology and bribing with money -which is what works.

I think the remake’s reason will probably be the main reason Will would join though -but i could see the reasons for Will being multifaceted. The baseball scene of Will trying to prove to his dad he can still play (before joining) could be  integrated into st.It’s also established in the original -the kid practiced when the dad was away which is sad but fits how Will has a baseball in his room in s2, and a bat in castle byers, in s3. The whole “you won’t get hurt” angle also fits with s3 Neil saying to Billy after a baseball game “What afraid you’’ll get hurt/no/ then what??!!!” Lonnie may say something similar to establish another parallel between himself and Neil.

 Also there is a bit where every time he tries to light a cigar/cigarette in his car- his kid throws it out the window knowing it pisses him off. cause she knows  she has leverage-which I shouldn’t laugh but anything that makes lonnie suffer is humerous in my book.

The worst scene that is quintessential Lonnie:and is in both films, and happens after his kid does indeed get hurt in the game (specifically their arm-nothing serious though).  In the remake while icing her arm she mentions how they should go surfing like they did when she was younger (cough Billy parallel /alter hint). in the remake he says he doesn’t even remember that and must have been drunk when he took her. And (in both versions) he  then says if he “wanted to play house (aka dad)”he would have called her in those years after he left her mother. And he only cares about her arm - not being a dad. in the original after saying this, he implies she’s dumb to think otherwise and purposely throws/spills his beer into her face to make his point . After this drink incident- she chuckles and says it’s not a big deal but when she walks away we see she was holding back tears.

The fathers of Stranger Things:  (narrative analysis)

This analysis will discuss all the dads in st. But will mostly focus on the parallels between Brenner, Lonnie, Neil,and Hopper. And the ramifications on their kids.And no i’m not saying Hopper is necessarily as bad as these other fathers/doesn’t have his reasons. But i think the parallels are worth mentioning.

Cycles of Ab*se  & internalizing your father’s teachings

Baseball-We see in s2 the cycle of abuse is there- Billy mimics Neil, and then Max mimics Billy. And uses violence to stand up for herself- which earlier she said she was trying to combat … explaining she can be angry like Billy sometimes but she never wants to be like him (her nickname symbolizing this: aka ‘mad max’).  

We see in s3 Neil taught Billy baseball and bullied him  and called him a “p*ssy” so Billy as a child bullied others and calls them a “p*ssy” (internalizing his father’s teachings and probably venting his anger towards his father on to others). We also see Billy in s2 antagonizes max and demands “say it. say it!”And later Max yells at Billy “say it! say it” and attacks him with a bat. Showing that even Neil has influenced her to a certain extent (via Billy’s ab*se of Max). 

We also see in s3 when Will is frustrated he destroys cb (a symbol of his artistic ambition/the day his father left) and destroys it with a  baseball bat (and then we see the mf officially return) . We also see in s2, Will has a baseball next to the mf drawing (in his room). This is noteworthy due to the fact Jonathan in s1 asks if Will even likes baseball or is just doing it to appease his father. in s1, Will admits he isn’t a fan of baseball -showing how this ‘interest’ in baseball in later seasons just reflects his desire to win his father’s approval (through more sterotypically masculine hobbies).  And we see how both Neil & Lonnie taught both their sons baseball- who are both named William -and who they would call  “f*gs”. We also see in s1 Jonathan lugs around a baseball bat & his father’s gun -however neither tool is used by him in the end successfully. However, in s3 we see Jonathan using an axe (like Joyce) showing by this point he’s mostly taken on Joyce’s influence. 

El’s spying , fighting the Russians, and  lack of care for her safety shows she internalized Brenner’s teachings- We know in s1 El was trained to be a spy/weapon against the soviets (by Brenner). And in later seasons when it comes to her interpersonal relationships- she continues to spy on everyone around her.  she spies on Mike despite his vocal discomfort in s3. Brenner specifically tells her to spy and repeat the words the guys are saying back to him- which is exactly what she does to Lucas and Mike (spying on them and repeating their words back to Max). And when Mike is concerned for her safety we also have El mimic Brenner’s words (from s1) . in s1 she is also said to be taken by Brenner to be a “weapon to fight the commies” and in s3 that’s exactly what she did!  She does literally everything Brenner ever wanted from her!!!!!!!

Jonathan & Billy’s fights with Steve (reflect their father issues… which Steve accidentally triggered)- We see Billy and Jonathan both shoved into walls by their father’s . For Billy this is in a direct consequence of Max running away and for Jonathan- Will’s disappeareance. Billy first shoves Lucas into the wall similarly to Neil. And both Jonathan and Billy are told to “STOP”.

Billy also breaks a plate over Steve’s head. What’s interesting to note is in s3 we see Billy’s mother threw a plate at  Billy’s father (so he was mimicking the dysfunction he saw as a child). kind of like how in s3 he backhands max (mirroring how neil backhanded his mother in the s3 flashback). 

When it comes to jonathan we see jonathan tell nancy to leave and it’s “not worth it” to argue with Steve. However he stops in his tracks when Steve says he’s “like his father”. Then Steve proceeds to insult his family. And  eventually Jonathan who throughout every season is generally portrayed as non confrontational attacks steve. similarly when Billy and Jonathan are beating Steve (who is laying on the ground)-multiple people are yelling for them to stop.But both are in too much of a triggered daze to stop themselves. Even when the cops come- Jonathan elbows the cop in the face and kicks steve with handcuffs on and even says handcuffed for the cop to “get off’ (like he told Lonnie earlier). 

Both would rather do this to their own fathers-but Steve (and the cops) were used as their proxy instead. The fights might reflect what the boys have been taught by their fathers-aka vi*lence. Also on some subconscious level jonathan may have been like-oh you think i’m like my dad? I’ll show you what my dad is like (beats steve with no mercy).

***also, tw se*ual ab*se (you can skip)-during the jonathan fight they also bring up the “pervy photo sesh”- which jonathan took right after seeing his father. in the movies said to inspire s4 they often had a se*ually ab*sive dad/relative who would take innaproriate pics of his kids.uuuuugh. So jonathan may have just been mimicking that past behavior of his father. ugh.***

*if you know about my did theory-part 1 and 2 you’ve heard this stuff in detail but i’ll just give a brief synopsis 

- The demogorgan that attacks Will in s1 is called the “deep FATHER” in d&d.

 Also, kicking myself for forgetting to mention another mf-lonnie connection. We know Lonnie fixes up cars as a hobby-showing his remodeled car to Jonathan in s1 .  And in the “runaway max” novel Billy would fix up old cars with Max at an auto-place (as a way for them to spend time together.) So Lonnie most likely fixed up cars in front his boys/tried to teach them to fix cars (similar to teaching them hunting/baseball). When Jonathan  lifts up a car hood and says  “ distributor... where is it?”. Will then senses the mf and grabs his neck-which he said are connected to “old memories”.  max and Mike are silent until Jonathan says  says "got it (the distributor)". And then Mike screams for his older sibling.

Besides this car example, another time Will senses the mf is when he used a bat which lonnie taught him to do.(most other times are in relation to him being romantically jealous of m*leven, and Lonnie would call Will homophic names). It all technically connects back to Lonnie. 

Plus...I mean we know Will likes tech and is in the av club (which is primarily for setting up film projectors). They did other things too, though:pa systems, lighting, etc.But ,no one can explain how Jonathan got in to such an expensive hobby of photography in the first place (which is similar to film projectors). Even when asked by Nancy how long he’s been doing photography he doesn’t answer how long/ when he started . And the s4 movies have a depressing explanation of how Lonnie may have been the first photographer Jonathan met. Besides what i mentioned earlier in the analysis- one s4 film “the visit” even has the teen (who is an older sibling and aspiring film maker) be taught photography/film making by the dad who abandoned them when she was young (and who she now hates). Meanwhile the younger bro  (wrongfully) blames himself for the dad leaving thinking the dad left cause he embarrassed him by messing up in his little league sports game. Which just baffles his older sibling- that he’s been assuming that was the explanation (for years).

New ST s4 bts pic

Interesting if this is a real st bts pic (and not for something else). Because, every film here is from the stranger things s4 movie list (that was released by st’s official Twitter). This is important because if paying attention- you already know st has a habit of sprinkling their fav films/film inspos in st locations: at the hawkins video store,  the 2 movie theaters, the halloween party, on tvs,  bedroom tv posters, etc.

But, if we presume this is real and relating to st... all the films here were released in june-july 1987. About 2 years after s3?! So if real, either its a flashforward at the end of s4. Or my initial assumption that s4 is going to take place over more than just 1 week in a month is correct. But...ofcourse we also have to remember that s1/2 had quite a few flashbacks. So it's possible whenever s4 takes place we may see many flashbacks at various points in time from 1986 as well?

Also ... radio shack!!! ( If this is real)we may get another Joyce/Bob flashback (like s3). Since Joyce had a flashback watching cheers -since the 2 used to watched it together . Her seeing a RadioShack ( where Bob used to work) would surely trigger a flashback. Boyce for life!!! 🥰 But it would also be cool/ wholesome if instead a RadioShack caused Will or jonathan to have a Bob father-like flashback with or without joyce ( maybe for Bob to more obviously contrast Lonnie) .

Another detail is Chatsworth is in San Fernando valley (part of la). And "valley" would also be a ref to that .Since, San Fernando Valley was known locally as "The Valley". So another possible hint the byers are in cali (like the pizza car - Jonathan's friend had-has a zip code in cali). The seedier parts of san fernando valley were also showcased in the films Reservoir Dogs , Pulp Fiction, karate kid, china town, and Magnolia (which yes, those 5 films also were on the st s4 movie list).  other valley films on the s4 list: Et, clueless, innerspace, terminator trilogy, and technically the back to the future trilogy (it’s set in a fake cali town but many real life locations were there). And the film ‘fast times ‘ which took place in the valley was referenced in s3 of st many times- a large part of the film took place at a mall, the scoops ahoy mall uniforms were based off the nautical restaurant uniforms in the film, billy slow mo walk near a pool to the song ‘moving in stereo’  was  copy and pasted from the film and done by phoebe cate’s character, the phoebe cates cut out at the Hawkins video store was of that specific pool scene too. Heck...  In s1e1 Ted wheeler also watched Chips- which sometimes takes the place in the valley (because it’s set in la).

 The 1982 satirical song by frank zappa - also critiqued the "mall culture ' of the valley and its consumerism. And most people completely missed the point and ate up the mall culture as positive . Kind of like how people missed that the Duffers were critiquing mall culture and consumerism... burning the mall to the ground after it caused small town business to deteriorate. How the mayor said the 4th of July parade was just a distraction from the economic hardships the mall created. Or how historically, new coke released in 1985 was a failure with consumers since coke abandoned its original formula . Yet it was littered all over s3 which took place in 1985 - since the Duffers intentionally (temporarily) abandoned their original formula from past seasons. The s4 pic of the Hawkins video store even has a film poster of 'the cocola boy'- a film that critiqued the consumerism of coke and who used coke as an allegory against American patriotism and imperialism.

In my original drafts I was almost done with my next analysis “the dysfunction of the stranger things ships is intentional”but i’m going to have to start over unfortunately. What are your thoughts on the whole seven deadly sins x stranger things crossover that happened? And how Will is a playable character with his own staff??

I’m afraid I’m not very familiar with the game, so I’m only just now learning about it. In fact, pretty much all the information I have from it comes from the posts of @aurelionsol--thestarforger.

I like how Will is playable. I’m not sure why he got a nod over some others, but I speculated that either he’s just popular in Japan or, since it’s an apparent cross-promotion, that they were told which characters to use. Still, I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of Steve.

I’d love to be able to say that there’s a big meaning here, but I’m just too unfamiliar with the situation to do so. The timing is odd, though. Perhaps it was planned long ago as a season 4 cross promotion?

I may be able to come up with something more meaningful than this if I were to become more familiar with the game and how the characters are portrayed, but, alas, for now I am useless.

Haha ,the 7 refs maybe.

“it was a 7″ causes Will to be attacked by the demogorgan ( which in d&d is a demon with multiple heads).  In the bible ,the Archangel MICHAEL fought and defeated this 7 headed beast/satan. Corresponding with Mike at the end of s1 writing a fictional d&d story for Will (based off defeating the demogorgan) which was about helping kill a 7 HEADED MONSTER!  Ironically though Jesus /Christian god is also associated with 7s a lot (he has 7 angels and during the apocalypse causes 7 plagues , he has 7 candles etc .)cause the number seven, represented ‘perfection’ according to ancient numerology . Will’s b day is March 22- (3) +2+2 =7 (“it was a 7”)..At the end of s1 they even defeat this 7 headed monster because Will rolls a 14 (which can be broken down into two 7s). Michael & William also have 7 letters in each of their names respectively- equating to this 14.

In my name analysis i mentioned all the other religious symbolism (predominantly christian/apocalyptic symbolism). So the cross over with the “7 deadly sins” is interesting.

I really need to play the game and see for myself though.
