Languish Arts / Woeful Studies - Ka (@brownsvilleka) = 85% (B) These double albums from Ka were absolutely great, but it could’ve made a lot more sense if they were one and the same. Hostile Architecture - Ashenspire (@ashenspire_) = 92% (A-) This album is one of the best metal albums of the year because it’s progressive and shows it’s grief. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . EP RECCOMENDATIONS Paraglow - Parannoul (@parannoul) & Asian Glow (@audinjeee01) = 90% (A-) This EP is just as creative and unique as Asian Glow’s other collaborative EP with Weatherday The Lead - FLO (@flolikethis) = 90% (A-) Although their style of R&B may be cheesy, that cheesiness is completely irrelevant because you’re distracted by their vocal performance. Nisemono - Ginger Root (@gingerrootmusic) = 90% (A-) This guy proves that he is very multi-talented through this EP. BEST ALBUMS NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2022 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Ruby Cord - Richard Dawson = 85% (B) Although Dawson sounds a bit off than his previous discography, The Ruby Cord is still a really good album. NO THANK YOU - Little Simz (@littlesimz) = 85% (B) Even though this album is really good, it’s my least favorite of Simz. King’s Disease III - Nas (@nas) = 85% (B) This is Nas’ most realistic album off of his King’s Disease trilogy White Trash Revelry - Adeem the Artist (@adeemtheartist) = 87% (B+) Although I am not that into country, this album is one of the most progressive country albums I have ever heard. SOS - SZA (@sza) = 90% (A-) SHEESH!!! THIS ALBUM WAS SOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! ALL THAT HARD WORK FROM SZA HAS PAID OFF!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . EP RECCOMENDATIONS Digital Ash in a Digital Urn (A Companion) - Bright Eyes (@brighteyesofficial) = 90% (A-) This EP tells a unique story through it’s soft hearted instrumentals. visions of a fragmented world - Spear of Cassius (@xxspearofcassiusxx) = 90% (A-) One of the most bloodiest EPs I have ever heard this year. It’s vibes to 90s horror games is what adds to being so good. Illusory Tracks - G Jones (@gjonesbass) = 91% (A-) This is what really good RAVE music sounds like!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Back 2 Life - Thaiboy Digital (@thaiboygoon) = 78% (C+) Thaiboy holds his own in his album. He might almost be at the same level as Bladee and Ecco2k. Her Loss - Drake (@champagnepapi) & 21 Savage (@21savage) = 79% (C+) A far improvement of Honestly, Nevermind. HEROES & VILLAINS - Metro Boomin (@metroboomin) = 81 (B-) Metro Boomin proves that he’s one of the best hip-hop producers today. I Didn't Mean to Haunt You - Quadeca (@quadeca) = 81 (B-) I feel like Quadeca is at his best, but he has a lot more show in his future career. Be That as It May - Boldy James (@boldyjames) & Cuns (@cuns_music) = 82% (B-) Boldy James proves that he is just as persistent as the griselda boys while Cun’s production keeps up with James’ performance Herbert - Ab-Soul (@souloho3) = 82% (B-) Ab-Soul shows a lot of his true versatility, but some of his tracks don’t fit in with it because of the production unfortunately. And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow - Weyes Blood (@weyesblood) = 83% (B-) Weyes Blood’s conflicts between being beautiful and peacefeul at the same time. Mr. Ten08 - Boldy James (@boldyjames) & Futurewave (@futurewave) = 84% (B) Boldy James once again shows that there’s no sign of him stopping and Futurewave’s production is top notch . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ELEVATION - Black Eyed Peas (@blackeyedpeas) = 20% (F) Black Eyed Peas proves again that they are way back in the early 2010s and created the worst album of 2022. THE FAMILY - BROCKHAMPTON (@brckhmptn) = 57% (F) I was disappointed on how this album turned out. This might as well be another Kevin Abstract album. 11 • 11 • 11 - MGMT (@whoismgmt) = 63% (D-) This album was just . . . meh hypochondriac - brakence (@brakence) = 71% (C-) Brakence’s album would have been great if it weren’t for the lyrics. TM - BROCKHAMPTON (@brckhmptn) = 72% (C-) A more improved goodbye from the boys, but not their best goodbye unfortunately. SMITHEREENS - Joji (@sushitrash) = 73% (C-) A lot of trash songs with few good tracks that help carry this album DIRTIESTNASTIEST$UICIDE - $uicideboy$ (@suicideleopard) (@yungxrist) & Germ (@germ) = 75% (C) Just a mix of both Florida boys style of art This Is What I Mean - Stormzy = 77 (C+) Stormzy to shows a bit more of his chill personality which sounds a bit too on other artist. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Bin Reaper 3: Old Testament - BabyTron (@babytron) = 85% (B) The rapper brings in this structured album that’s different from other Detroit trap artists. Blue Rev - Alvvays (@alvvaysband) = 85% (B) Blue Rev is one of the most vibrant rock albums this year even though they’re not unusually compatible. HIS HAPPINESS SHALL COME FIRST EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SUFFERING - Backxwash (@backxwash) = 86% (B) Backxwash’s latest feels like another sequel to her two albums, but it has improved quite a lot with its flexibility and ferocity. Luv 4 Rent - Smino (@smino) = 90% (A-) Smino again does not disappoint in his latest album! This album is one of his best! De Todas las Flores (of all the flowers) - Natalia Lafourcade (@natalialafourcade) = 95% (A) This album . . . is a pure example of what beauty is!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . EPS & MIXTAPES RECOMMENDATIONS I will not use the body's eyes today. - Fire-Toolz (@fire_toolz) = 91% (A-) Fire-Toolz prove they are multi-talented with their combined insane production of pop and metal . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Actual Life 3 - Fred again (@fredagainagainagainagainagain) = 78% (C+) As a producer, Fred proves that he can create some highlights in this album even though it does not feel like it. Trouble The Water - Show Me the Body (@showmethebody) = 80% (B-) Troubled The Water does not have as much strength as their last ep “Survive”. Gold Bricks - Elcamino = 80% (B-) Another album by a member of Griselda Records . . . It’s not that bad at all. Being Funny In a Foreign Language - The 1975 (@the1975) = 80% (B-) Definitely one of the best 1975 albums I have heard. It’s very fitting and brief, it sounds like a different 1975. 10 - Westside Gunn (@westsidegunn) = 80% (B-) This album is definitely a fitting conclusion to the Hitler Wears Hermes series! Changes - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (@kinggizzard) = 83% (B-) I honestly missed the first 2 albums that came out, but this one is already enough for me to say that it’s good! hopefully, I’ll be able to find the time to listen to the first 2. a tape called component system with the auto reverse - Open Mike Eagle (@open_mike_eagle) = 84% (B) Open Mike Eagle still proves that he is one of the most creative underground rappers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Chapters Of The Trenches - Tee Grizzley (@teegrizzley) = 70% (C-) The grizz comes back with hard lyrics, but his production on each track sounds too similar. Midnights - Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) = 70% (C-) I feel like this album could have been better if she did not make so many of the tracks so halfass. Survivor’s Remorse: A & B Side - G Herbo (@nolimitherbo) = 71% (C-) Like many of his past projects, Herbo shows his vulnerability and trauma to his audience with his performance being better than the production. THE LIZ 2 - Armani Caesar (@armanicaesar) = 72% (C-) Caesar puts in the effort to create a more different appraoch than Griselda’s usual style of Hip-Hop. Her work is inspired by other female rappers who came before her. Unfortunately, it’s not as good as her first album. Marvelous - Yung Gravy (@yunggravy) = 73% (C-) I feel like Yung Gravy takes himself both serious and not serious at the same time. Return of the Dream Canteen - Red Hot Chili Peppers (@chilipeppers) = 76% (C) I had a fun experience listening to this album. Like many 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s bands, I feel like RHCP has overstayed their welcome. The Loneliest Time - Carly Rae Jepsen (@carlyraejepsen) = 76% (C) Even though this is not Carly's best album, I don’t think it is bad at all. It feels more like a heartbreak album during the holidays. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This is just my opinion so . . . Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam - The Comet Is Coming (@cometcoming) = 85% (B) The electronic jazz band has an atmospheric sound with its that features this energy that is ahead of its time. Darklife - death's dynamic shroud (@ddsnuwrld) = 85% (B) This album is a total trip. If I was ever on shrooms while listening to this, I think I would freak out. Morbidity Triumphant - Autopsy (@autopsyofficial) = 86% (B) Autopsy brings a nostalgic experience but they introduce us to something new. Natural Brown Prom Queen - Sudan Archives (@sudanarchives) = 86% (B) This Sudan Archives album is very blemish with its astonishing style of R&B. age/sex/location - Ari Lennox (@arilennox) = 86% (B) Although it’s almost a combination of her latest EPs, this album is a level up compared to her debut. Free LSD - OFF! (@offofficial) = 87% (B+) This album is top notch Hardcore punk! It is filled with very dense production and vigorous lyrics! I Love You Jennifer B - Jockstrap (@jockstrap_music) = 87% (B+) This album gives a lot of Björk vibes. Its bizarre modern experimental pop gives out a lot of goddess vibes. $oul $old $eparately - Freddie Gibbs (@freddiegibbs) = 89% (B+) This is by far Freddie’s best solo album. I underestimated is solo outings because they’re never as good as collaborations with producers such as Madlib and Alchemist. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . EPS & MIXTAPES RECOMMENDATIONS Icarus - Cryalot (@_cryalot) = 96% (A) WHERE IS THAT NEW KERO KERO BONITO ALBUM!!!??? The Mars Volta - The Mars Volta (@themarsvolta) = 75% (C) The lyrics of almost every song has its characteristics, but it’s wasted by the band's production. Fossora - Björk (@bjork) = 76% (C) Björk’s latest album is has it’s sorrowful, motivating, and thrilling highlights. Sadly, it is still not one of Björk's best albums. Entergalactic - Kid Cudi (@kidcudi) = 76% (C) This Cudi soundtrack is unlike any of his past projects. Entergalactic sounds more like an actual album than a soundtrack. Church - billy woods (@armandhammernyc) & Mesiah Musik (@messiah_musik) = 78% (C+) Woods brings this calm and random creation in his chilling archives. God Save the Animals - Alex G (@sandyalexg) = 79% (C+) The songs in this album is well grounded. Horsespit on Route 66 - The Garden (@__thegarden__) = 81% (B-) This album by The Garden is strong with their forceful vocal performance and rascal production Spiderr - Bladee (@dg_bladee) = 82% (B-) Spiderr is a very direct album where Bladee wants to grow as a musician. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . EPs/MIXTAPES: TRILOGY SPECIAL! SZNZ: Spring - Weezer = 74% (C) SZNZ: Summer - Weezer = 67% (D+) SZNZ: Autumn - Weezer = 70 (C-) (@weezer) Although these EP’s are pretty cheesy, I still had a pretty fun experience listening to them. The main issue about this trilogy is that it’s a complete mess and it has no direction of where it’s going for its theme. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
