A Shattering of Goblins

I did all my Goblin Week sketches on one page this year, so here’s the finished mob.

“Who is Hypnos? Where is Hypnos? What is Hypnos?”
Pantheon #10 - Hypnos
"They say spring comes when Demeter's heart rejoices. But it is always winter somewhere, and a mother's mourning never truly sleeps."
Pantheon #9 - Demeter
(Picking back up this project I abandoned during Inktober. I’m not holding myself to one a day, but I’m going to try and finish up the list.)
I remembered I still hadn’t posted my submission for the 2018 Object Head Zine.

Help support a great artist
If You’ve been around Tumblr a while, you’ll probably recognize the artwork of @modmad
Be it from her lovely dhmis work…
Or maybe from her gravity falls period…
Or maybe from osomatsu-san?
Or mp100?
Or perhaps you may know her as the person who singlehandedly built/revived the Magicstone tag and the Gladstone gander fandom
Or even from her thesis film, Skip
She even did some great work in the Steam Powered Giraffe and Ace Attourney fandoms, as i’m told
Why am I bringing all of this up?
Because mod is currently working on a kickstarter to publish a second volume of her webcomic, The Property of Hate!
As you can see, as of today, October 30th, there are only 9 days to go and we’re barely halfway there
Why should you care about Tpoh? Well, in addition to being a charming, heartwrenching, pun-filled and exciting adventure, it also features an extremely diverse cast of characters. The main characters are a young british-indian girl and her telly-headed guide (who is canonically pansexual, with both a girlfriend and an ex boyfriend appearing in canon). There are a wonderful pair of wives, a nonbinary main character as well as a genderfluid one, and all kinds of amazing twists and turns. Not to mention the art is amazing
Basically, if you’re not reading it already, you definitely should. And you should also help Mod make this amazing step forward into getting her story out to a broader audience.
The kickstarter link is here
And you can start reading the comic from the beginning here
Or see more of mod’s collected work here or on her Tumblr blog, @modmad
Please, help a great artist and a great person make her dreams come true!
UPDATE:
This is amazing, y'all. In the last 2 days we’ve been able to pull in almost 2k thanks to all of you! We’re in the home stretch now, with one week to go. As of right now, this post has about 7k notes. That means if everyone who liked/reblogged it donated just over $1, we would be at goal. For $10 you can get a digital copy of volume 2, and every little bit helps.
I so so so appreciate all of you who’ve been helping to spread this, even if you can’t donate. The response to this post alone and the amount of love I’ve seen from all of you has been incredible. I believe we can do this!
4 days left y'all, and we’re making steady progress! We’re close to 19k, which means there’s just about 7k left. Please continue spreading this, y'all have been truly wonderful!
We raised another 2k just yesterday and there’s 3 days left. We can do it y'all!
THIS IS AMAZING Y’ALL ARE THE BEST THANK YOU? THANK YOU
This is literally one of the best webcomics out there, y’all. Everyone please help make this book happen. (Or my copy of Volume 1 is gonna be REAL lonely)
“Aphrodite, born from seafoam, knew the interweavings of pulse and tide. Of a beating heart and a hurricane. Of love and the dark ocean floor.”
Inktober Day 8- Aphrodite
“To live in the shadow of Hestia is to know that a home can have a hunger all its own.”
Inktober Day 7- Hestia
"Mnemosyne, god of memory, felt the limits of his divinity most keenly. For nothing is ever truly remembered, just recreated from shadow and song.”
Day 6 - Mnemosyne
(Playing catch-up today, so expect more later!)
“No one ever knew why Charon collected a toll, but it means that somewhere there must be a market that barters with dead men’s silver.”
Day 5 - Charon
“Ares scarcely knew he was the god of war. He was too distracted by his own self-destruction to hear the hymns of battle.”
Inktober Day 4 - Ares
“Atlas measured weight in centuries.”
Inktober Day 3 - Atlas
“The native language of gods is Fire, and the tongues of Hermes are branded in their blazing echos.”
Inktober Day 2- Hermes
"Eris was the only one who ever knew that the line between divinity and absurdity is apple-skin thin."
Inktober Day 1- Eris
Long time no post! I know I’ve been pretty dead on Tumblr, but I’m back to say I’m doing Inktober this year. Here’s the cover page for my project, plus my prompt list. I’m going to be interpreting Greek gods as monsters (though not necessarily in the order of the prompt list.)
New Year’s Resolutions 2017
(Under cut)
2016 Resolutions Report Card
I thought about not doing this for 2016. There was a very real point in the year where I thought to myself, “I guess I won’t do the resolution post thing anymore. It’s not worth it.” Yet here I am, something like a New Year’s drunk calling up their exes, writing another sad New Year’s post. Because I’ve been doing this since 2012 (when the whole “communicating in GIFS” thing was still Tumblr’s main dialect), and I am seemingly incapable of change.
I’m going to preface this year a little. As I said, I’ve been doing this for something like 5 years now. Every year I make resolutions, every year I keep an actual running chart/list to track my progress, and every year (except, like, one) I face the New Year feeling literally sick with dread and guilt about how poorly I did. Every year I make a post that’s pretty bleak, but ends with some kind of hope.
This year I thought I’d save myself the guilt. Around the middle of the year I stopped updating my Resolution Tracker for the first time ever. I gave up, officially. I thought I’d feel feel less like a failure if I removed those arbitrary goalposts I’d set for myself. I thought maybe I’d actually get more done if I wasn’t constantly worried I still wasn’t good enough.
That....didn’t work. I don’t feel any better, and I certainly didn’t get any more done. If anything, I feel a lot worse. So we’re going to call 2016 a failed experiment and resolution-keeping and go back to the charts and lists for 2017.
As part of that, I guess I can’t skip this report card. Results and general year-end impressions are under the break. I know this is the first post I’ve made on this blog since...almost last year, actually, so this is a little weird. But really, what in 2016 wasn’t?
(Fair warning, this year’s particularly bleak. I’m kind of self conscious about how whiny it comes across, so maybe don’t read this unless your misery loves company.)
Hey guys, as you already know I had the honor to do an illustration for this awesome project, “Enough Space for Everyone Else”, a comic anthology about non-imperialistic sci fi stories!
>>>>KICKSTARTER <<<<
Sadly we are struggling to get funded, so we need all the help we can get to spread the word about this anthology and to get people to pledge! So please, if you can, maybe donate a little, and follow the official social media accounts, reblog and retweet their posts, talk about it on your blog, tell your friends about it!
