Me two months ago: Alright this Madoka Magica 15th anniversary retrospective panel is going to be a low effort project. I'm going to spend no more than a week or so on the actual content of the panel.

Me now: Anyway I've finished translating the opening chapter of Fate/Zero into English with dactyl meter.

Why am I doing Japanese name order anyway? Nobody in Japan even does Japanese name order in English except like…Kouno Tarou. And I like Kouno Tarou fine for a Japanese politician but this is easily his weirdest opinion.

Yeah, I've been saying the same thing. It wouldn't've been out of place on TV anywhere between about 2010 and now.

To what extent do you think lion king ripped off Kimba if at all?

No idea honestly. I tend to think that the team would've been too proud to consciously rip off something like that, but I could understand if it seeped in. I just don't know nearly enough about either.

I like some of the ideas here but man if you're a peasant then we both are. Like the quality of the drawings are good because the animation staff is stacked with vets but it's very funny that it boasts about its "hand drawn animation" as if this is at all unique and then looks so mid.

Miyazaki made princess mononoke and got so much shame that he made something cool he never wanted to make cool shit ever again lol

Well on the one hand, I'd call Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaa, Tenkuu no Laputa, and Porco Rosso cool. But then, he never seemed quite comfortable with it after the fact either.

Still on my Tokikake kick right now. Stumbled upon the official staff blog that was used to drum up hype for the movie. Tons of cool stuff there including an interview with the Art Director Nizo Yamamoto, with an added focus on the other BG painters as well. For some this was their first job straight out of University! Imagine your earliest work on anime was where Hosoda was at his coolest!
