“You gonna ask me?” JJ mumbled, his eyes roaming over her features. He watched her brown eyes turn a little darker, watched the tip of her tongue dart out to taste her bottom lip, the upturn of her brows as she heard his question. 

“Ask you what?” Kiara responded but her voice was breathy and she knew what he meant, she knew that he knew too, ‘cause he was grinning at her and his finger was still hooked around the strap of the dress she was suddenly so glad she wore.

“You know what,” he told her and his voice was a little lower, a little rougher and he moved his hand away - to both of their disappointments. 

His hair was falling in his eyes, messy blonde blocking out bright blue but Kie could feel his gaze on her and it felt the same way it had before, just like that one time. The last time. The only time it was supposed to happen.
