Is it bad that I think Oliver has a better and healthier relationship with Barry who lives 600 miles away then with any of the people in the cave with him? I mean his relationship with Felicity is an abusive mess. Dig doesn't seem to respect him whatsoever anymore. Even his relationship with Thea has gone to shit. Now Laurel's gone.... I mean at least Barry actually respects him and calls him out without being cruel or condescending. Not to mention that their personalities mesh really well imo.
Laurel and Barry are honestly the two characters in this tv verse who have consistently believed in Oliver as an individual, anon. And yes, Laurel and Oliver had their ups and downs at times, but that’s to be expected as they share far more screen time than Barry and Oliver (which is sad, because I completely agree with you. Oliver is at some of his best personality and writing-wise when he’s interacting with Barry, it’s like he turns back into his old pre-Ol*city self or something) and they always ended up patching things up by the end. The fact that the two of them were always willing to acknowledge when things were going wrong between them and strove to fix them says a lot. But yes, in this horrible alternate universe we clearly live in where they decided killing the Black Canary was a good idea, Laurel is gone, meaning Barry is alone in his crusade to prove that Oliver Queen is His Own Light, Thank You Very Much.
Barry and Oliver do have arguments over the course of the crossovers, but they are all settled in a very mature, adult manner. Take when Barry is mad at Oliver over torturing a guy to get information on Boomerang vs. when Felicity is mad at Oliver over the whole William thing. Barry doesn’t talk to Oliver, removes himself largely from the group discussion, and people (most vocally Lyla) can tell he is upset, but it does not detract from the plot or undermine Oliver in front of his own team and Barry’s. Then Barry approaches him privately, they talk stuff out, and their friendship grows from the experience. Felicity, meanwhile, will take every and any opportunity to remind Oliver and their whole team that Oliver Did A Bad Thing to her in her eyes, even weeks after the event occurred. And then you get the others telling Oliver it’s up to him to fix things with Felicity (even though she initiated the breakup) and Diggle taking cheap shots at him over the breakup when he’s mad at Oliver. And why wouldn’t they? They’re learning by Felicity’s example that it’s ok.
Barry, despite not being one of Oliver’s full-time teammates, is the only character currently in the Arrowverse who treats Oliver like an equal partner.
insp.
Basically
Laurel: *calls Oliver out on his shit*
Haters: OMG SHE'S A BITCH. HOW DARE SHE SAY THAT TO OLIVER? SHE SHOULD DIE. I HATE HER. SHE'S SELFISH.
Felicity: *calls Oliver out on his shit*
Haters: YES OMG YES YES YES SLAY GIRL SLAY.
Legends of Tomorrow, jumping on the bad-writing bandwagon with Arrow.
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK.
WHY DID SHE GET CUSTODY
WTF @SHONA RHIMES
Because it’s not about blood relation. It’s about a judge seeing a kid being able to remain in the same city, same school, with the same friends and support system that she is thriving in.
This could have been easily avoided by Callie not choosing to follow Penny across the country to New York.
Not my recording. This is my favorite cover of Seven Years.
As much as I’m annoyed with Maddie rn Cash is getting seriously creepy with how intense she is about controlling Maddie’s future and she’s currently making me really angry
Like how she said they were getting offers from labels, using ‘we’ and not ‘you’ directed toward Maddie. Cash is a vindictive child who’s living vicariously through Maddie.
Still my favorite gif 😍
they photoshopped Katie’s face away now too.
you’re lunatics.
Reminder to the Olicity minority who are rude/dismissive of Cassandra Jean Amell:
olicity is fanservice trash
pass it on
fangirl challenge ♡ (3/50) favorite female characters: angela chase people alway say you should be yourself, like yourself is this definite thing, like a toaster or something. like you can know what it is even. but every so often i’ll have like, a moment, when just being myself in my life, right where i am, is like, enough.
@ anti - brallie fans because its “incest”
does that make Barry and Iris incest? Barry was adopted by Iris’s dad when his dad went to jail. They’re adoptive siblings.
no. it doesn’t. because they don’t see each other as siblings, and they’re not blood related. so no.
IT’S NOT INCEST.
Barry also was never adopted.
I wish I was Marc Guggenheim - being paid for writing out of my arse and being funded by little kids who spend more time obsessing over the lives of fictional characters than their own
this blog is so stupid. you judge a whole fandom based on a few people you've interacted with and have the most absurd accusations. you're a hypocrite. you preach about olicity being fan service but you're also saying that marc should listen to your opinions and lead the show the way you want to see it. but that wouldn't be fan service to you, right? as long as you get your way. felicity and olicity fans had nothing to do with laurel's death. her storyline wasn't going anywhere.
Look, we know you’re not a monolith. In fact, we’ve had anons who either used to like or still like Ol*city come and talk to us and be perfectly respectable, and in turn we’ve reciprocated that tone. But when people have come into our inbox and been rude, yeah we’ve responded and probably not seemed nice about it. And when we make posts about the “fandom” it’s a generalization, because unfortunately the rude members of the fandom have outnumbered the polite ones in our own personal experiences. And it should be understood that, no, we don’t mean every single one of you. That’s the purpose of a generalization. We’re not going to tag every post with “Not All Ol*citers”, but really if you’ve been kind and respectful on your blog about your ship you should understand we are not attacking you personally. Our “accusations” are usually based off of anons we ourselves have received or exchanges that some of our followers or anons have pointed out on other forms of social media. We do our best to provide sources. When we’ve been wrong, we’ve apologized. I don’t see how anything we’ve said is “absurd” when we can back it all up with evidence.
And I hardly think it’s fan service to expect a show that is billed as a comic book show to be about comic book characters. Fan service is not wanting to see a continuation and improvements on Oliver’s Hero Journey, or the development of Diggle, Laurel, and Thea as heroes, or a better developed and more impactful “crucible” for Felicity’s character to go through and propel her into becoming a better hero because of it. Fan service is, however, asking and getting the “love fern” resurrected and wasting time and money to do so, having Ol*city and OTA become canon terms, asking the show runner for and having him promise more sex scenes for your faves when that is nowhere near central to the overall story or plot, asking for and getting a side ship for your fave’s mother just because, having her become a season regular when she has nothing to do with the plot, and having every character and their mother praise your fave and your fave’s ship, even with their dying words. (Hard to distance Laurel’s death from Felicity and Ol*city when that’s the case, anon. The writers chose to make her death scene about it, not us.)
Sure, we have opinions, and we voice them. But as long as Marc and the others would simply respect the source material they have chosen to base their show on (I don’t care if they say their show is “not like the comics” - make an original show then and don’t rope in an audience that is hoping to see their favorite characters from the comics on television. It’s dishonest.) we would be happy. We’d watch, and sure we might write up reviews, but we would trust that the writers have a plan and that even if we don’t agree with every single thing that’s happening we’d still be able to enjoy the journey and enjoy this interpretation of a story and characters we all love. But Marc and Co. have proven they don’t care about the source material, they don’t care about the characters we grew up with and admire, and as a result we are angry. We’re not asking for fan service, we’re warning the writers that if they keep going down this path they’re going to lose their original audience, their base of supporters that got this show off the ground in the first place.
Laurel’s story line wasn’t going anywhere because the writers decided since she wasn’t a love interest she wasn’t important anymore, just like how now that Felicity and Oliver aren’t in a relationship she’s getting written out of episodes. Which should prove that to Marc even Felicity’s only worth is in whether Oliver’s having sex with her or not. The idea that Quentin or Malcolm have more story line than Laurel Lance is absurd and inherently sexist and your fandom should be just as angry because it affects your fave and every other female character as well. That’s something we should all be able to agree on.
