“beyond rough.” she sighs heavily as she picks up her drink and swirls the liquid around in the glass for a moment before taking a sip. “but i made it here alive, so all is well.” even rita didn’t like to be too dramatic, at times, she didn’t like showing any signs of weakness. “i imagine you deal with the same amount of utter morons i do.” she all but rolls her eyes as she glances around the room. “truthfully, if i had your job – i may just pick up a bottle and smash it over someone’s head.” given her career choice she should be opposed to violence but her morals weren’t exactly the best. “i admire you, honestly.”
“i guess that’s one way of looking at it,” nina spoke before taking a sip of her own; more than a sip, really, as nearly a quarter of the drink disappeared. but she was no rookie here. it surprised nina that rita found bartending to be anything close to admirable -- it always seemed like the careers with degrees behind them were the ones that got the highest praises, but rita wasn’t wrong. this job was no easy feat. “you’re probably the first person who has ever said that to me. but that’s because most people i interact with here just think i’m some drink-serving robot. so believe me, i’ve been damn close to breaking a bottle on someone.”

nina: my tv broke
nina: i can't watch judge judy :/
blythed:
sitting back down in her chair, her food and hangover forgotten, blythe couldn’t take the smile off her face. it was nice to have someone familiar here in this town. looking down at her plate when nina commented on it, she impersonated the King as best she could, “thank you, thank you very much.” she sighed loudly, crossing her arms on the table. “honestly, i think i’m the cooks favorite here.” blythe shrugged her shoulders before glancing back up at the other girl. “how’ve you been?”
a girl like blythe and a girl like nina would never have been friends in a normal circumstance; nina was sure of it. the other was far happier with life than nina, who was an absolute grouch most of the time. but nonetheless it was one of her most valued friendships (it’s the only friendship that felt like family to her), and she wouldn’t trade it for the world. stifling a laugh, the suddenly not-so-tired brunette shook her head. “i seriously doubt that. is that even on the menu?” as if on cue, the waitress came by, looking a little worried as if nina might do the same as blythe, but nina relieved her and ordered just a waffle. “well, as good as i can be, considering i’m a struggling bartender with no car and a compacted studio apartment,” she sighed. “but it’s not so bad. better than it could be. what about you?”
How to turn anger into dollars
svmreyes:
whistling lowly, he shook his head at her. “are you trying to get me drunk?” he asked, looking at the two shot glasses before him. he’d already felt the small buzz from his earlier drinks, and usually he wasn’t someone that likes to get drunk, especially with others, but he picked up the shot glass and held it out for her cheers before drinking it in one gulp. he tried not to, but he coughed, covering his mouth with his arm. “these are free, right?” he asked, his tone serious before he allowed a small smirk.
“maybe, maybe not,” nina responded, raising a brow at him. “but even if i was, is it really so bad? being drunk is fun.” shrugging her shoulders, she mimicked his actions and held up her shot glass, clinking it against his, then down the shot with ease. it’s not like she was a rookie to this short of stuff; hell, she worked at the bar. shots were like water to her. however it didn’t seem to go so well for sam, judging by his throat’s reaction to it. nina stifled a laugh at him before pouring him some soda to wash out the residual alcohol, handing him the glass with an amused expression. “yep, all on me tonight. i get discounts on shots, so you just let me know if you wanna get wasted right now --- i can make that happen.”
ofjcxs:
he would never admit it out loud, not even to himself, but he quite liked katarina. there was something about her that intrigued him greatly, something special that him drawing him back towards her which was a challenge in itself. one of his worst traits was how quickly he grew bored of people. perhaps that’s the reason he practically craved her attention. she was difficult and always put up a challenge, getting what he wanted from her always came with effort which he found exceptionally attractive. “oh please, i have to reject people most of the time.” he rolls his eyes as he speaks. that statement, of course, was far from the truth. sure, people liked him, but it was rare his friendships were ever genuine. not that he cared. “besides, i much prefer tormenting you.”
scoffing at this argument, nina nodded her head in the most sarcastic way a person can. “yeah? well, then, you must’ve rejected everyone to end up alone. but for some reason i just can’t seem to believe that,” she retaliated, offering a fake smile in his direction that quickly dimmed back into the smug side smirk she could never seem to take off her face when he was around. she couldn’t ever pinpoint the cause of that; maybe it was because she was satisfied when she got to pick at him, or maybe it was because she always knew exactly how their night would end. either way, she taunted him with it, but never unlocked eye contact. she was confident in the things she told him. oh, but those brown eyes. “fuck you.” this was said with less malice than it should’ve been; she just wanted to get a rise outta him. as always.
Which would be harder for you to give up: coffee or alcohol?
ASK DAY (no longer accepting)
“is this a real fucking question? alcohol, hands down! sure, i like a nice cup of that starbucks blend early in the morning, but that compared to a glass of wine at night? absolute no-brainer. i can survive without coffee, but alcohol? i don’t think so.”
what did you always want? did you get it?
ASK DAY (no longer accepting)
“being honest? i guess i’ve always just wanted a family. like, a real family. not one of those temporary ones i had growing up. but a solid, permanent family. never got it.”
favourite childhood memory?
ASK DAY (no longer accepting)
“damn, that’s hard. my childhood wasn’t much of a ‘good mems’ type, but there’s probably a few i can dig out of my brain. i do remember being five years old and helping my mom make, like, ramen or something. i don’t know. it was something shitty, probably, but it was fun. i just remember thinking she was so good at cooking. i guess i didn’t realize how easy it really was. i mean, i was five, so. that was one of the last good memories i have of her. y’know, before the feds came rolling in.”
a place you've always wanted to visit?
ASK DAY (no longer accepting)
“spain. god, i’ve heard so many good things about that place. y’know, europe in general would be pretty great. but i’ll be eighty by the time i have enough to pay for a trip like that. i wanna punch whoever the fuck decided flights gotta be more than twenty bucks.”

“so, that’s where that ‘to kill ya’ joke came from.” he smiled slightly at his own words, proud of himself. leaning against the counter, sam had his hands folded gently under his head. “if you pour another drink, i’ll consider it,” he responded, feeling himself a little more good-humored. really, she didn’t have to ask. her company was simply something that he enjoyed.
“oh wow, you’re quite the jokester, aren’t you?” nina asked, a short laugh coming from her. “but i think you’re right. literally, the tequila te-killed him. and now he’s getting his revenge.” her brow raised in amusement, and she leaned her elbows on the counter facing him. she couldn’t seem to wipe the smile off her face. “no more of whatever the hell this was,” she spoke, picking up his empty glass from the counter. “i think you and i both need a couple tequila shots, huh?” and with that, she made her way to the back counter, pouring four shot glasses full of their best tequila, then gave him two, holding up one of her own. “cheers to to-kill-ya.”
blythed:
she was, unsurprisingly, stuffing her face with a weird concoction she made up just for a hangover. the look on the waitress’s face the very first time blythe had come in always pleased her, but after being here for a good amount of time, they’ve gotten use to her weird orders. sooner or later, she’ll have to switch it up. hearing her name, blythe looked up and saw someone approaching her. finishing what was in her mouth, she realized who it was.·“nina!” she said excitedly. wiping her face with her napkin, she stood up.·“i’m hugging you,” she warned as she stood up.·
nina wasn’t typically the hugger type, but when it came to blythe, it didn’t matter -- that girl was like a sister to her. her family gave her a sense of what a real family was like, even if it was just for a year, and seeing blythe always brought those memories back. that feeling.·“fine, but only for you,” she responded, her eyes rolling playfully as she mutually went in for the hug. when she pulled back, she had a bright smile on her face (something rare for nina, honestly). she missed the days they used to have late night girl talks and walk to school together. it was the only house she felt sad to have to leave.·“it’s been too long, sis. let’s chat.” as she said this, she sat down across from her at the table, eyeing her food.·“look at that! how unique.”
