Overall, she is the epitome of wasted potential.

Kate grew up in Aurora Bay as the youngest daughter to wealthy parents that were very invested in their children's future, much to the point where her and her sister, Beatrice's, feelings were left behind to be replaced with academic ambition and intelligence as a priority.

Both were sent to private schools, but Kate became expelled when she was ten for lighting a fire in the science lab for, as she claimed, scientific curiosity.

She never cared for education and actively rebelled against her parent's attempts at private institutions, until they were forced to put her into public school.

Besides her hatred, she was naturally smart academically, and got through high school with straight As without even lifting a finger. However, she wasn't interested in applying herself. She was much more interested in smoking pot behind the bleachers and getting into fistfights with her peers over something stupid. But some would say, she actually loved the thrill of it.

Her older sister on the other hand, graduated from private school and went on to make a name for herself, securing her spot as the favorite child.

The only thing that grounded Kate and didn't make her seem like a complete write off to her parents was her love of ice-skating. She'd been taking lessons since she returned back from private school to appease her mother's wishes that she have an interest. There was something about being on the ice that made her feel free and not tied down by the societal expectations her parents had crafted for her into their own heads.

In her teenage years, she even entered a few amateur ice-skating competitions and won. She had a partner, he was a couple years older and she admittedly didn't get on with him at first, but when she was sixteen she ended up losing her virginity to him after a show.

When she hit eighteen and refused college, she was given the ultimatum to get a job and move out by her parents. She was given a hefty monetary care package that she was smart enough to save away in some bank account, while finding the bare minimum of somewhere to live.

Her parents tried to get her to pursue her ice-skating career, but ultimately she settled on getting a wait staff job at Neptune, while still performing occasionally on the side.

She'd still be found training at least three times a week, before heading to the beach to relax with a little herbal break.

Her reckless streak unfortunately didn't end, and she'd often still get herself into trouble some way or another, whether that be pissing off the townsfolk or causing havoc whenever she could.

Despite this, she is fiercely loyal towards her friends and will go to any extremity to maintain their safety and happiness.

To say he feels like a fool is an understatement as the moment Kate's immediate insult hurtles out, Benj feels his pride jabbed with something sharp and prickly. He tries to not look offended, even if he knows he wears it on his face.

"Okay, uh, I'm sorry for misreading what you meant?"

It's said more as a question as his hurt feelings tell him he shouldn't be the one apologizing. Benj also sticks with trying to let relief overpower that, because now he doesn't have to worry about trying to shake her off. Something tells him Kate would be relentless when her eyes are set on someone, and thank god he isn't that someone.

Then both of those feelings are beat out by abject horror, and he squeaks out, "Jesus Christ. Do— are you allowed to be out unsupervised?"

It'd be an interesting experience for her, one of her dark-rooted fantasies coming to fruitation. Maybe not that grahic, but who didn't like a little pain.

Kate nodded her head in agreement and approval. She liked this woman, she talked a lot of sense. Fortunately, Kate was never considered a wallower, and she was able to move on from things rather quickly, or at least that's how it appeared exteriorly.

"Yeah, you're right. I think that's why relationships piss me off, because your life relies so heavily on one other person. Then when they break you, its just chaos."

She'd never let a man do that to her, or at least that's how she liked to perceive herself.

"Well, if you know of anyone in need, or you ever get bored of yours... then you should hit me up." She smiles, teasingly. "Help a girl out, and all."

Kate thought she did have a point, she'd give her that. It was better than to be disappointed by the prospects of what a man had promised never really being fulfilled. She'd stupidly fallen for that twice in her lifetime, and she vowed never again. But she would admit, that sometimes she did get lonely, even if it was just for the comfort of another next time to her.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Still sucks to be reminded every year of the day you broke up with someone, or got broken up with. I can imagine." She shrugs.

"At least you have a fuck buddy. I probably need to get myself one of those, but people don't tend to like me enough as a person to even get to that stage."

There was still a smirk on her lips as she said it before she came over and crouched down in front of the dress, giving the material an experimental little tug, "This will cut and hem easily, so yeah. A slit like up to here?" She mused, ghosting her hand up and poking the side of Kate's thigh. "And black will be easy enough. Unless you wanted like a midnight blue or something? I think something dark would be best."

Kate only knew of the brief circumstances surrounding the Evans family from her conversations with Wes, but she knew better than to pry. Not that she'd turn down Amelia if she ever did want to talk about it, and it'd mostly be because of her interest in the subject, selfishly. "Well, it used to be to cover shifts before he became a family man, now he's sentenced me to the punishment of the rota." She snorts. "Jeez, are you a fashion designer or were you one in another life?" Although, she did like the ideas that she were giving. "I do like dark colours. It's weird I've not dyed my hair jet black yet, but it's on my list. What would you do about the neckline?"

In actuality, he liked a drop of ginger beer or some cola in the glass when he was drinking rum but he hadn't seen Kate reach for either for hers so him and his stupid want to impress her to some degree would go without.

Subtle as it is, he senses a shift after he mentions Liza, the thread something that he would have wanted to tug on to see where it led if he wasn't far more interested in the other topic they were discussing.

He takes his rum in hand solely to seize the opportunity for his fingers to brush against hers, enjoying the thrill that gave him more than he would enjoy the taste of the booze when he braved it.

Ravi brings the glass to his lips then and takes a swig, hoping the burn might somehow remind him to not play with fire in the workplace.

( A lesson he's not learned as thoroughly as he should yet. )

"Sure I can," He says with an unsubtle look in her direction, the kind that conveyed that he's down for actions if she preferred those to words, "Try me and find out."

Kate could respect his answer, and it admittedly impressed her. She goes to slide the glass, with straight rum, but is slightly taken aback from their shared contact as he reaches for it. It made an excitement course through her, while her mind ran through all the possibilities to come that having both of them in the same establishment could bring. It'd been a long time since there'd been some eye candy in Neptune.

As she watches him, she mimics his actions, bringing her own glass to her lips and savouring the burn that's applied to her throat. There's something oddly satisifying about the way it hurts, and the displeasure it brings.

"I'm not someone to pussyfoot around it." She says, as places the glass down, whilst keeping her eyes fixed on him. There's no subtly needed with Kate, not that that seems to be a problem for him. "Manager's office. There's no cameras there, and it's always unlocked. Take your drink to go?"

Benj is stuck in a freeze, and his eyes narrow as though he says the wrong thing, or makes the wrong move, he might end up dipping himself in some hot water. Or somehow get himself dragged into whatever brand of trouble she is into. and because she finds stealing to be mild, he doesn't want to risk it.

An attempt to speak is cut off by why Benj assumes is a suggestive remark.

"I have a girlfriend." He takes a pause to consider that that there isn't enough of a rejection, so Benj quickly adds, "Also think you're better off finding someone who is into going home with someone they don't know. And maybe in your age bracket. I don't even know your name."

"Ew." Kate crinkles her face, at the very thought of what he's suggesting that she's implying. "You're old." And she's adament by their very few seconds of interaction that he would be no fun in the bedroom, all vanilla and plain.

"I'm talking about... well, slicing off your face and making a lamp out of your skin." Her face grows into an amused expression, a smirk forming against her lips.

Amelia's grin turned feline, practically preening at the praise Kate doted onto her at her little idea. And sure, her mother would probably still be furious, but Kate was still following orders, even if she toed the line. Or fucked with the line altogether. "Make it even better if you plop on some pretty princess makeup that you know she's gonna want anyways. Make yourself look like a knockout." She mused as she came closer and casually plucked at the material of the dress. "Sure, I've got nothing else to do today and I have experience with dyeing, I used to do it with thrift finds all the time." She mused. "Food is on you though after. I'm thinkin' pizza and beer? Or some burgers would be good."

"Pretty princess?" It wasn't something Kate would ever associate herself with. However, there would be some appeal in going over the top with it, and making her mother quake in her overpriced boots. "You'd do this for a pizza and beer? Damn, you're easier to buy than your brother." She snorted. "But I guess I can manage that, as longas the results are of epic proportion. I want people to be talking about what a disgrace I am for years to come."
