Today is our last day in Italy I can't believe how fast the time has gone. Even thought it was our last day it was a day filled will great fun. Today we finally had a full day off!! YAY! I started the day off with my first cup of tea since I came to Italy, I can't tell you how much I missed tea! I spent the whole day walking around seeing the city and doing a little shopping. In the afternoon some of us went to a small sub barb area outside of the city to go to a tack shop. I wanted to see if they had a saddle I've been looking for. We sat in a park for a while while we waited for the shop to open. Sadly he didn't have the one I was looking for. We then went back to the hotel but stopped in this little barter area and I got some nice purses and of core scarves. I wouldn't leave Italy with out some! I then went back to the hotel and did some packing. Later that night I went down to just sit in the lobby. A ton of people were going to a soccer game but IU didn't want to go. Two other girls weren't going so we decided to go to dinner. We went to this place called The Kitchen it was just a few blocks down the street from the hotel. It was really good and a nice way to finish off our trip ! I will definitely come back some day. I learned so much and have n even greater appreciation for Italy and how they do things. I really wish some of the traditions and values they have were shared in the US. Definitely a trip of a life time and one to remember.

Today we started early with breakfast at the hotel .Then we went to the US Consulate. It was an adventure getting there because we had to take the above ground train system. It reminded me a lot of like the Trollies in San Francisco. Once we got there one of the girls tried to take a picture of the building and a police officer cam over to us and told her she needed to delete it and that there were no pictures allowed. I though that was very interesting. I understand why they say that but how are they regulate that with people walking by or driving by. We came up to the entrance and they for some reason couldn't let us in the front door so they took us to a different entrance and that diet work so they took us around to the other side of the building. We tried going up the fire escape but that didn't work either hahahah so we proceeded to go up another emergency exit and finally got in. Once in they checked all passports and had up drop off our bags in this small room. Once in the conference room a guy from the US came in and told us a brief description about what they do there and then about his job. One thing that I found really interesting was they they not only help citizens but they do a lot of work with other companies and helping them find partners in other countries. After that appointment we then went back to the hotel for a brief moment before heading out to go see San Siro Stadium. We got back on the bus and headed there in the afternoon. Once we got there they took us in to the stadium and let us take pictures and gave an overview of the stadium. It is a place where two team call home. Then we went down to the locker room. It was interesting to compare it to the husker locker room because the Huskers are a college team and the locker room is amazing. I went in to the locker room thinking it was going to be this amazing room because it was a pro team. Surprisingly though it was just a plane room with the colors of the teams. We then were taken to the museum where we could walk around and take pictures. Once we got back to the hotel Emma, Jane and I went to the city center to walk around and eventually get some dinner. We walked around for a while before we went on to the back streets. It was interesting because it had the same feel as New York but the people were so much nicer and not nearly as many people crammed in to a small space. Finally we found this small little restaurant. The owner was standing out side and talked o us. Once we got in there he tole us how to connect to the wifi. The way he set it up was if you liked his page of Facebook you got internet or faster internet at least. The meal was amazing I would definitely go back there if I ever go back to Milan.

We left Venice today to head to Milan. On our way to Milan we stopped in Verona. Oh my goodness wen we got there I fell in love with the city! We went on a walking tour of the city. The history there is just unbelievable. the guide took us to the area where "Romeo" loved and then to the balcony where "Juliet" lived. Before we went there he took us to a small town well. There was a place in the wall that told the story of the two families. The two children of these two families loved each other. At night it is said that Romeo would walk through this garden to get to Juliet. We took the same path that they believe he walked to go over to the balcony where he would go and see her. I went over to the wall and wrote my name on the wall. I can't wait to go back and see if it is still here. After our tour we had a little time to go get some food before we had to get back on the bus. We had one more stop before we got to Milan and that was Pasta Lensi. It is a company that is now owned by Conagra. We went for the tour and they were so excited and welcoming when we arrived. They took us through the factory and the guy who was took our group around was actually a guy from Kansas City who comes over every few weeks to work with the people at the plant. He was very funny and gave a great tour. I really enjoyed this appointment. Finally we got back in the bus and went to Milan. We didn't have any dinner plans and we were not in the city center so we decided to go to a place close to get some food. We started walking to go to this place called the Kitchen and We could not find it so I stopped and looked at this menu and the price wasn't bad so we went in. They were so nice and friendly it took us a while to figure out what was going on because they spoke no english. Finally we figured out where we really went. It was a gay restaurant. I didn't know they have those but they do hahah It was such a great experience!

Today we are going back to the main land for a bit. We got on the bus and headed to Geox. Geox is a a company that was made fro a man who's family owned a wine company. He was a sales person who was on a trip to the US and as he was walking around and his feet were super hot so he took a knife and cut a hole in the bottom of his shoes so that his feet would be cool. He then went back to start his company they now make a wide verity of shoes and clothes. I really want to get one of their rain jackets its breathable but won't let the water in. Sounds like a perfect horse show jacket! After our tour we got back on the bus and went back to the dock to go to Venice. We had the afternoon free and then we had dinner. We walked there and I was in the back of the pack with Dan. When we got upstairs for dinner there was only 2 spots left and f corse it was at its own little table so Dan and I had "Date night". hahaha The food was amazing The lasagna was the best I have ever had!! Not to mention the tiramisu was soooooo Yummy!! We walked bad after dinner and I had to pack because in the morning we are going to Milan.
Just doing a little laundry!

Today we started off with a tour of the city. We met our tour guide in the city center and then walked through the palace. The tour guide was very hard to understand, he almost seemed scared of us being such a big group. The Palace was amazing the amount of detail was unbelievable! We went through all if the different rooms and saw where the council would meet and then we went through this room where they had all the different forms of swards and guns that were used. Finally the end of the tour took us through the prison. It was very interesting to see how small the ceilings were there. The people must have been very short most of the guys in the group had to duck when walking around down there. We then broke off form the group to go get some lunch and walk around for a bit. I ran back to the hotel to get a few things and also wash my jacket. I have been wearing it all week and it was time to do a little laundry. It was definitely a first for me washing my jacket in the sink but I made tit work!! After lunch we all met back up again to go to Murano and Burano. We took a boat to go to Murano first, they are known for their glass work there. We got off the boats and went directly in to the factory. There they showed us a brief demonstration on making glass. Oh my gosh! It was so cool and they made it look so easy! The guy making the glass made this horse that was about 10 inches tall just pinched the glass a few times and then let it fall in different directions and boom it was done! So cool!! We then went in to their shoe room and they showed us the very expensive stuff and it was room after room of expensive items. Then the last room is where they got you every thing in that room was like 3 for 50 euros. I ended up getting a beautiful small glass plate and two beautiful small glass horses. After our town we headed back to the boats and went on to Burano. As we pulled up we could see already how colorful the city was! The tour guide basically took up around and just let us walk around and explore. I took probably at least 200 pictures just from that hour we were there. When we got to the center of the city we stopped at this little bakery and tried these small little cookies. I went in to the shop and got some cookies to take home and a pack of prosciutto. It was of corse so yummy! I love prosciutto! We went back to the hotel and had the veining free. I wasn't very hungry so I just went to sit with a group of girls when they went to dinner so I could use the WIFI to talk to my family. We went back and just chilled in the hotel and finally went to bed!

Today we transferred from Florence to Venice. We took a bus to the Ducati plant. We arrived there a little too early so they had us walk form the bus to a local coffee shop. It was kind entertaining watching a group of almost 40 students try and cross a very busy street that was not built to be a crossing area. Finally all of us got to the other side and loaded in to this little coffee shop (it was not small by standards of Italy but buy the fact that there were 40 people trying to all fit in this shop at once). We then went to go back to the Ducati plant. They were very strict almost secretive getting us in to the plant. As we began our tour the lady was very very smart and excited about what she did and where she worked. They assembly line they have there is amazing! The system they have formed for making the bikes is so cool and precise. I believe she said they have a 1% error rate. After our tour through the production line we went through the museum and saw the very first bikes all the what through the current bikes. It was interesting as we got towards the end the last few bikes looked orange. When we asked why she informed us it was because withe the new HD Tv's the red they had on the bikes looked darker then what they were so they used this orange and when it is shown on Tv they look like the Ducati red everyone thinks of. They we went back on to the bus and made our way to Venice. When we got to the docks to wait for the boats they unloaded all of our bags and then loaded them on to these small little boats when they went to reverse and take to bags and it looked like the boat was bout to tip over. We then made it to the hotel. It was kiel walking through small little tunnels to get there is was crazy how close things are there. We got to our room and small is an understatement. We had to do a little rearranging to make it work haha. Then we had the night free and went out to explore the city. They had some of the most beautiful mask I have ever seen. There were 4 of us and we walked around for a while then went to find a place to eat that had WIFI so we could talk to our families. We had a nice dinner and then went back to the hotel to go to bed.
