5sos are dismissing the stigma that comes along with mental health issues, they’re saying it’s okay, to not be okay, and that’s amazing. The fact that this whole “New Broken Scene” is focussing on the reality of life and it’s rough patches, rather than the regular bubblegum pop version that sugar coats the bad times, is beautiful in my eyes. They’re basically telling everyone who struggles with acceptance and self love, to say “Fuck You” to the standards and normality, that society paints, and instead show us it’s okay to be different, this is about fixing what’s broken, because nothing is permanently going to be bad, that even they struggle sometimes, and that’s it’s a normal part of life. They’re making it easier for their fans to come forward and admit they need help, that they’re struggling, this doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. Someone’s always their to listen, whether it’s a therapist like Michael, your friends, your family, the band or even the music, there’s always someone to sit and tell you “We’re alright though” because we will be.
