Sophie: starting a 100k word fanfic at 4am

Biana: wearing high heels on a night out for "aesthetic" and literally not being able to walk from blisters

Linh: getting my (very long) hair caught in a mixer while making cupcakes

Marella: setting fire to a tissue for laughs and burning my hand

Keefe: colouring my hair with chalk and then it not washing out for weeks afterwards

Dex: making dinner but forgetting to put the oven on and not realising for like 15 minutes

Tam: getting two cartlidge piercings from a very dodgy place so I could look cool

Fitz: stalking someone online then accidentally liking a post from 3 years before

dex actually died in lodestar and the triplets have been stacked up in a trenchcoat pretending to be him for the past three books and everyone is going along with it for sophie’s sake but since it wasn’t relevant to sophie’s journey shannon messenger left it out

how to explain to someone in fandom that their view/actions may be harmful

1. do NOT go to other blogs about it. do NOT send in anons and asks and messages about the blog that may possibly be in the wrong because that gets us NOWHERE. that is gossip. gossip does not help us move forward, it takes us five steps backward.

2. go directly to the person in dms. no asks. asks are meant to spread the word and get everyone all in a fuss because you clearly want your conversation to be publicized. 

3. be respectful! no one is going to listen to what you have to say if you are snappy or go in swinging with, “actually, you’re wrong, i’m right.” explain the situation thoughtfully!

many people don’t understand that even if the person is being harmful, you can be harmful to them, too! do not spread gossip! do not be rude! even if something less-than-ideal is happening because of a blog, there is still a person behind that blog - and regardless of what some people may have done, that doesn’t mean they deserve hell. and for the love of god, don’t make posts about them.

BE RESPECTFUL. BE MINDFUL.

If I am respectful in explaining my views/opinions to a blog that is potentially promoting something harmful, and in the end they do not accept that their behaviour or mindset is wrong, what do I do?

1. block them. simple as that. they will not change and you obviously don’t agree with what they have to say (and you’ve been kind in sharing your side of the story), so there is nothing left for you to do. do not make a big deal out of blocking them. do not go to others about this person once they have been blocked. that story is over and done.
