Welcome to your life
There’s no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behavior
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world
It’s my own design
It’s my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most of freedom
And of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
There’s a room where the light won’t find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do, I’ll be right behind you
So glad we’ve almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
Everybody wants to rule the world
Everybody wants to rule the world
Notes: MERRY CHRISTMAS! You just have to read it to find out. No, really. You HAVE to read it. This is a para you can’t miss.
Olivia groaned as she stood at the hearth of her fireplace, annoyed not for the first time that she wasn’t of age yet. Her parents really should have conceived her at a more convenient time so that she wouldn’t be one of the youngest people in her year. Then she would be able to Apparate right now, rather than be anxiously awaiting a trip via Floo Powder. Not that Abe wasn’t worth it, Olivia thought with a smirk as she tried to envision her destination. Malfoy Manor - somewhere she’d never actually been, but she was looking forward to visiting her girlfriend. Girlfriend. She wasn’t sure she was used to the word yet, but she definitely liked the sound of it. Abe was fun, sassy, gorgeous… She was one of the few people at Hogwarts that Olivia felt like understood her. And so, with a whoosh of her hand and a rising cloud of green fire, she called out the name of her destination and stepped forward into the fire.
Abe was hardly being productive at the Malfoy Manor that evening - Scorpius had gone out for the day and had promised her to bring Abe back some of those stupid chocolate frogs when he got back from his outing in Diagon Alley. The brunette had tied her hair up in a ponytail and was really just lounging around and waiting for her girlfriend to get there. Referring to Olivia Jordan as her girlfriend definitely was…. odd, to say the least. But she liked it. It was nice to know that someone cared about her - someone who wasn’t clingy, to top it off - and she could honestly say that in the month that she and Olivia had sort of been ‘together’ she was actually really beginning to like her. As alarming as it was, Abe trusted her. Olivia wasn’t the type of person to just leave her hanging and dump her for someone else; she was the type that would always stick around and who would be devoted but not the kind of girlfriend to cling to her. But that was actually perfect, for Abe. As soon as she heard a large sound come from her living room, she bounded into it and flashed Olivia a grin. “Well aren’t you a sight for the sore eyes.” She remarked, the corners of her lips tilting upwards as soon as she laid her eyes on her lover.
Olivia stumbled out of the fire place, rolling her eyes at herself for the distinct lack of grace she demonstrated as she fell out into the living room. She managed to land on her feet at least, and she straightened up, brushing the dust off of her clothing as she heard the sound of footsteps. The smile met her face before she even looked up to see the body causing the sounds, and she was happy to confirm that it was in fact Abe that had strode into the room. She shot a wink at her girlfriend, feeling slight butterflies in her stomach at the sight of the dark-haired girl. She’d been feeling a bit out of sorts ever since she’d stumbled across Ryder Lynn’s body over a month ago now, but being away from the castle - and especially being around Abe - made her feel herself again. Made her happier than she had in quite a long time. “Glad it’s you and not Scorp or Dru,” she said with a slight chuckle, casting a slight glance around the room, inspecting her surroundings but finding her eyes drawn back to Abe almost instantly. “I won’t say I missed you ‘cause that’s not your style, but it’s nice to see you too,” she teased, taking a step forward.
Abe grinned openly at the other girl as she brushed the dust off of her, returning the wink as she strutted over to where Olivia was standing, going in for a swift kiss on the lips before leaning replying. “Scorp and Dru are both out, I think. He’s somewhere else - Diagon Alley, I think, and Dru’s with her boyfriend if I’m correct. Or a friend or something. I dunno. We’ve got the house all to ourselves since Old Malfoy’s went out for a date night.” She remarked, her gaze flickering down to Olivia’s lips for a split second as soon as the girl stepped toward her.
Olivia wasn’t used the the sight of Abe smiling quite so much, but she got more than a little bit of satisfaction from knowing she was the cause. It was quite the accomplishment to know that someone who had been so closed off for as long as Olivia had known her was finally starting to be a bit more herself, and she liked this side of Abe even more than she’d liked the side she’d gotten to see before. She slid her arms around Abe’s waist, pressing herself closer to her girlfriend as they kissed, then arched an eyebrow at her comment. “Oh yeah? We get the run of the Manor… I think we could have fun with this,” she said mischievously, giving her hip a little squeeze.
Abe slung her arm around the other girl, cocking an eyebrow upwards at the look on Olivia’s face. She’s grown to learn that the other girl always looked like that whenever she was plotting something, and as she did have ties to the famous Weasley-Potter clan, it was quite evident that she was up to something. “What did you have in mind, Oli?” Abe felt herself smirking before she stuck her tongue out at her girlfriend, crinkling her own nose as she did so. “When you say ‘fun’, I’m pretty sure you wanna wreck something in here.”
Olivia let out a hearty laugh at how Abe saw right through her. “Maybe not destroy anything,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders. “Although I have a feeling Scorpius wouldn’t take too kindly to me having my way with you in his room,” she added jokingly. She was pretty sure that would result in Scorpius busting out the closest thing to an Unforgivable Curse he could come up with, but that only made her more amused at the prospect. She tugged lightly at Abe’s hand, gesturing towards the door. “Although I suppose a tour would do to start.”
Abe raised both brows in a borderline unimpressed manner and rolled her eyes aggressively. “Oh, I doubt he’d mind that much.” Abe fibbed, leering towards her girlfriend before bursting into laughter, shrugging once at what the girl asked of her before leading her out of the door. “So this is uh… a hallway. There are a few portraits of our descendants. See that pretentious douche? That’s Scorp and I’s grandfather.” Abe pointed at one of the larger drawings in the corridor, taking a few steps forward as she just let Olivia take the room in. There wasn’t any point of rushing after all, was there?
Olivia chuckled as Abe burst out in to laughter. “Oh yeah? Because I think the only thing that would horrify him more was if Nico was here too,” Olivia added, still in a teasing manner. She hoped her comment didn’t cross any lines - she wasn’t quite sure what Nico was to them, but Abe and the adopted Weasley in particular had always been close. It was Olivia’s turn to laugh heartily at Abe’s introduction to the Malfoy hallway. Olivia was starting to see why this was the first time they had actually hung out at Malfoy Manor - the walls were laced with dozens of creepy old dead dudes, all eyeing them curiously. “You’d make for an excellent tour guide. I’m really getting the vibe of the room,” Olivia said as she gave a slight wave towards the “pretentious douche.”
Abe felt her grin falter a little bit at the mention of Nico before tilting her head to the side and letting her mouth tip upwards once more. “It probably would.” Was her only somewhat clipped response, as she still did feel a bit awkward about the entire Nico having feelings for her debacle. The threesome probably wasn’t a good idea to follow that up with. “Mm, I know, right? I could be one of those boring fuckers who work at museums with those snazzy outfits.” She joked, nodding forwards as she and Olivia walked into another room in the manor. “So uh… whadaya wanna see now? Now that you’ve seen the grand hallway, of course.”
Olivia felt a wave of guilt at the look on Abe’s face, wishing she could take it back. She was nothing if not fiercely loyal to the people she cared about, and somehow, Abe Lestrange had quickly climbed close to the top of that list. If whatever had happened at the start of the holidays made her girlfriend feel uncomfortable, then Olivia wouldn’t mention it. She poked Abe in the side, rolling her eyes at her continued enthusiasm for the house. “You live in one of the supposedly most interesting wizarding houses in Britain, you know,” she said with a laugh. “You’d look way better in those things than the old baldies.” She cast a glance around, peering in to a couple of open doors, and bit her lip, contemplating. “Well… I’m sure I’d like your bedroom. And we have pretty good luck with rooftops,” she added, voice a little bit husky. “Or… you’ve probably got a room full of weird old artifacts somewhere, if we want to save the real fun for later.”
Abe rolled her eyes affectionately at the little poke at her side before she slung her arm around the brunette. Many people really and honestly thought that Abe had no soul - the rumour that she’d been conceived while her mother was under the affected by a love potion, thus causing Abe to be incapable of love was just one of the many statements thrown around by most of the students at Hogwarts. Only a few select people had really gotten down and under Abe’s skin: Scorpius, Nico and Olivia. It wasn’t that she was incapable of having feelings; she just didn’t know how to really show them. “Shush - this house is about as interesting as Gramps Malfoy’s arse, babe.” She cocked her head to the side to press a stray kiss onto the other girl’s dark hair. “… Old artifacts? Didn’t know you were into that sort of thing, Liv.” Abe’s eyebrows shot upwards, the hormonal teenager inside of her shouting at her to go for it. “Sure, though. There’s actually a weapon room, y’know? Scorp told me he brought Brittany in here and then into the Quidditch equipment room, but they ended up in his bedroom, thank Merlin for that. We could uh… go in there?” She asked with a little curve of her lips upwards. She wasn’t exactly sure what Olivia wanted to do with a bunch of swords and maces, but she trusted her judgment enough to just let it happen.
Olivia leaned in to Abe’s touch, enjoying the comfort of having her arm around her more than she was used to enjoying physical contact. She talked a lot about things she would be willing to do with people, and she knew that she had been a merciless flirt at times, but she had never really acted on those urges until she had started hanging out with Abe. She smirked at the feeling of Abe’s lip against her hair, tilting her chin towards the girl and pressing a kiss to her lips instead. “Definitely not the arse I’m interested in seeing,” Olivia said with an amused tone. She wiggled her eyebrows in Abe’s direction. She had actually just wanted to get a tour of Malfoy Manor before they ended up wrapped around each other somewhere, as it wasn’t often you got to spend Christmas at the fabled home. “A weapons room? Well, someone’s got to untaint it from just the possibility of Scorp and Blondie.” She shuddered lightly at the thought, nodding her approval and letting Abe lead the way to the room.
Abe exhaled sharply and kissed her back, eventually taking one step back so that she could get her head back into gear. “Uh, so, I can… This way, m’dear.” She stammered before finally starting to walk towards the room that they were talking about. “I concur.” The brunette agreed and in seconds, she and Olivia found themselves in the weapons ruin of the Malfoy Manor. With a swift motion, she locked the door and turned to the other girl, taking a few steps forwards. “So, how’d you wanna do this?” Abe breathed out, her eyelids feeling heavy as she surged forwards to place a kiss onto Olivia’s lips without waiting for a response from the girl.
Olivia slid her hand in to Abe’s, letting out an uncharacteristically girlish giggle at the way she seemed to be flustered by their kiss. She let herself be tugged in to the weapons room, arching her eyebrows both at the urgency that their interactions seemed to have taken on and at the array of swords, daggers, and axes adorning the walls. “This is quite the set up you have in here,” Olivia remarked, sliding one sword out of its holster on the wall and absentmindedly giving it a twirl. “That’s a nice start,” she purred at the kiss, sliding her fingertips up Abe’s side lightly. She looked back at the sword in her right hand, not sure why she was so intrigued by it, not understanding the way her brain grew fuzzy and distracted her from the real reason she had wanted to come here in the first place. She gave it another twirl, only this time she was a bit clumsier, and it clattered out of her fingertips, grazing Abe’s arm and drawing blood before it clanged on the hard floor. “Oh, shit, I’m so sorry babe, are you…” Olivia began to ask, but even as she wanted to reach out for her girlfriend in concern, something seemed to stop her, and she knelt down and picked the sword back up from the floor, wiping Abe’s blood on her own pant leg.
Abe tilted her head to the side as the other girl giggled and nodded, not paying much heed to the fact that Olivia was playing around with old, dangerous and priceless swords. “Mm, I’d say it was.” She leaned towards the other girl’s touch, feeling completely content for the first time in years. She had a girlfriend and she cared about her. It was actually really, really nice. “Shit!” Abe called out, flinching backwards as soon as she felt the blade scrape at her arm. “No, it’s okay, I must’ve moved or somethi- What the hell are you doing, Livvy?” She asked, the last word being spoken in a surprisingly childish and confused manner as soon as the girl wiped Abe’s fucking blood on her own leg.
Olivia looked down at her girlfriend’s blood wiped across her own clothes, eyes widened in horror. “I don’t… I don’t know. I don’t understand.” Olivia let out a terrified squeak as she glanced back at Abe’s arm, wanting to assess the damage. As she reached out to try and touch her arm, her intentions tender, the familiar fuzzy feeling started to rise again, and her vision clouded. She remembered thinking that she needed to shake her head, to close her eyes, to blink off the confusion, but she couldn’t do it. Something inside of her was taking over, and she couldn’t fathom what it could be. Her body was moving, her hand was drawing back, her arm was thrusting forward, the sword was wrenching through Abe’s heart… And she couldn’t control any of it. She saw it happening, as if it was an old fashioned movie, and her arm gave a twist, digging the sword deeper and deeper in to the other girl. Panic rose up, but it couldn’t overcome - she wasn’t strong, she wasn’t strong enough… And then the feeling was gone. She was in control, but her hand was still clutching the sword. She was still staring at Abe, a sword clean through her chest. She had done it, and a sob wracked her body as a sudden awareness, an awareness that had been eluding her ever since she’d seen Ryder Lynn’s body, washed over her…
Abe let out a horrified screech as soon as she felt a blade digging into her chest, right in that spot where - She wasn’t going to make it. Abe’s eyes flickered up to meet Olivia’s, several emotions flashing through them. She never had shown much emotion, but now it was all starting to pour out. Tears pooled at her eyes as she felt dejection as well as betrayal sweep through her. Abelinda Lestrange pursed her lips, not speaking at all. She wanted to at least die with dignity. When the girl who had just attacked her started crying, she stumbled a bit, squeezing her eyes shut as she tried to ignore the blinding pain that was washing over her body. Her hand inched itself forwards just a bit so that she could fumble at placing it on top of Olivia’s, squeezing it lightly before her vision blurred. An expression of forgiveness even though by now, she had figured that everything had been a lie; all of the kisses, the intimacy, the closeness, the feelings. It was all a lie. As Christian in Moulin Rouge said: “Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love.” It wasn’t real and Abe was stupid for thinking for a second that anything on Olivia’s part was. Abe couldn’t help but still feel that way though. Olivia. Nico. Scorpius. Her parents. The Malfoy’s. They were people that Abe loved. Love did exist. Even though now she could acknowledge that love was real, she couldn’t deny the fact that love could only hurt her. Love can be your downfall. Everything seemed to tilt sideways as she collapsed to the ground, the angle that she hit it at just sending flashes of pain through her. People say that when you’re dying, you see flashbacks. Abe could only feel pain sweeping through her; she could feel anguish inside of her that someone that she’d trusted after so long of closing herself off to others, could do this to her.
Olivia felt as if she was suffocating. She reached out for Abe, clutching to her dying girlfriend and whispering over and over again, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted…” Her words cut short as Abe’s eyes clouded over, and she knew she had lost her. She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t deal with this. She had hurt one of the only people in the world she gave a shit about - had killed her. Had watched her dying breaths. And the worst part was, even as she saw the images of the man in her head, even as she knew that there was someone who had taken advantage of her weakness and had made her do this, she also knew that the face was blurred. That she couldn’t quite make out who it was. That she couldn’t stop him, and that the worst had happened. It had taken the worst to get her to snap enough to see what she had been doing all along. Now she couldn’t take it back. Now she couldn’t figure out how to stop him from using her to cause more pain and suffering and sorrow. From furthering more evil. She knew what she had to do - knew that even if she didn’t have to do it, she would do it anyway, because how could someone live with themselves after they’d hurt their friends? After they’d killed the first person they’d ever really fallen for? She sunk to her knees, hugging them tightly and teetering on them, unhinged and unable to tear her eyes away from Abe. She was so beautiful, even in death, even with blood pooled around her on the floor of the weapons room. She couldn’t stay forever, though - if they found her here, they’d never believe her. How would anyone believe her? She blinked away from the sight, one that she’d never forget but wouldn’t have to remember for long, as she tore things off the bookshelf and finally found a stray scrap of parchment. She thought to summon a quill, but she was too weak, too scared to use magic, as she settled for pulling a Muggle pen out of the bag that was still draped over her shoulder. Hesitantly, she began scratching out a note - two notes, actually. One to the girl who would hate her for this, and rightly so. The girl who deserved an explanation, after all the feelings that she’d been put through with her involvement with Abe and Olivia. And the other… the other to the girl who would always love her, no matter what. The girl who had been her rock her entire life, and who would have done anything to try to change her mind. She folded their notes, leaving the parchments with the names ‘Nico’ and ‘Rocky’ out of reach of the blood, hoping they wouldn’t wear its stench when they reached their recipients. Silent tears still streamed down her cheeks as she tugged the sword out of Abe’s body. She paid no mind to the blood - there would only be more of it soon anyway - as she turned the sword upon herself and plunged it in to her own heart.
Well actually my birthday should be coming up. I’ll be the big seventeen wooo. Did you see my excitement there? Hah probably not considering that the only people who have liked me were Sam, Ryder, and some younger years. So I’ll stick with stuffing my face in cake instead. I think Torie offered to make me my own..since I bake so much. I’m awesome..wait what?
Awesome. Eh, it'll be fine, babe. I mean, you're bound to have someone interested in you romantically. Hell, I got my first girlfriend a few weeks ago and it's been fucking awesome. Yeah, you're awesome. Sorry for being so pissy all that time. You all have been pretty dope.
Hmm that’s actually a good idea I mean Victorie made a cake and sent it to the common rooms of each house. Maybe when it’s my birthday I’ll get to relax and get showered with gifts and love…
That sounds fucking sweet, actually. Shh, you probably will, babe. On Liv's birthday, we went ice skating and then had a threesome. Maybe you'll get the same next year - you'll probably have a girlfriend or boyfriend by that time. You know you're pretty awesome, right?
Well, that’s lovely to hear. I mean, it’s one thing to have good company, but another to be with someone you care for a lot at such levels. It’s easy to assume that you’re having an awesome day then, or so I’d hope?
Yeah, I guess you could say that. M'not one for expressing how you feel about someone on a public forum, but I'm really, really happy. Yeah, it's a pretty awesome day.
You might know if you’re from around here; what goes on for half of the year. Have you seen the queen of the castle? - Paint this city from ear to fear. If the air was meant to glitter, it might not take all yours away. When she swings she’s a heavy hitter, when she comes she’ll ask you to stay. Winter left a cover that I’m gonna end up under but I’ve got my boots. When I’m in the summer, I forget how much I love her when she’s in the groove. Oh, it’s a love-hate romance, ‘cause I could watch her dance, if I got my boots.
Fitting song for the season. Merry Christmas Eve, everybody.
Enjoy yourselves, my friends. Working on a schedule to come visit whoever I can. Luckily with the Weasley/Potter family, that takes care of a majority of you!
Ah, I know what you mean. Nothing really - just spending the day with my awesome girlfriend. We're almost at our one month mark together so that's pretty cool.
