I truly don't get why the common stereotype of tank/healer MMO couples is surly toughguy tank and anxious people-pleaser healer because every time I queue in as a healer I can feel myself physically turning into the devil

The actual healer archeytpes are Bones McCoy, underpaid pre-school teacher, and sadistic dom.

The actual tank archetypes are meathead himbo, parent trying to drive the car while the kids fight in the back, and masochistic sub

You'd think that DRK would be the masochistic sub and sometimes they are, but I personally find DRK to be the long suffering dad (gender neutral) who pulls up to the drive thru, orders a single black coffee, and leaves.

i think the funniest thing in the world to me is the game treating g'raha and y'shtola as ambassadors for miqo'te culture and they're 1.) the guy who was raised on Wizard Orphan Island and doesn't remember his pre-sharlayan childhood at all, and 2.) the girl who quit her family to go live with a mean cave witch on purpose

when alphinaud's like "shouldn't he be g'raha nunh?" to y'shtola it feels like the rich oxbridge WASP kid asking his dorm roommate questions about their "home country" (they were born here)

aetheryte stations and plazas as a transitional space. the quiet humming of the crystal. the blue light. muted goodbyes and exhilirated "good to see you again!"s. the salesmen peddling potions that they swear will make you able to teleport. the ones watching it spin as they wait for someone long past due.

how soothing wouldn't it be to sit by the aetheryte and let time pass? the air feels a little thicker right next to it, charged with ambient aether. see the ones attuning, tapping into the lifestream with furrowed brows and parted lips. feel how the city inevitably bends around it, passing around it like a river is split by a rock.

"I'll see you over there", a firm grip, a forceful smile. what one person can traverse in seconds another will journey towards for days. the novelty of an adventurer popping into existence. the horror of not all of them following along.

the inn posters and the food stalls, the helpfuls and the not so much. benches where the wood and stone have been worn smooth by decades and generations of travel.
