My Final 1:50 Section,

I wanted this section to show the general idea of my proposal, while also showing the textural qualities of the building. I wanted this section to show how this concept should be viewed as, a celebration of buskers and their idea of performance with a slightly dark undertone.

This is a development of one of my key architectural components, ‘The Rotating Facade’

These are a set of development sketches that explore the different types of spaces different buskers can perform in. this process eventually led to a narrative where the buskers would have to start from the basement and make it to the top to get their license. This process would be split into 4 stages, the buskers would start the basement, earning their way to the ground floor, the first floor, and finally, the auditorium. a talent show run by the head of the organisation would take place in the auditorium, where buskers are pitted against each other to get their license. This narrative was supposed to slightly exaggerate the current state of the process of getting a license in Budapest.

Basement

The basement would hold a steel frame jungle, where buskers would have to create their own space and perform. the buskers would be judged by a sculpture, who works on the same floor.

Ground floor

The performance spaces on the ground floor would be more comfortable than the basement, as the performance spaces are catered to different buskers. The performance spaces themselves would be timber pods, as timbre seemed to be the most flexible material to cover the needs for different types of buskers. The busker processing crew would decide which busker would go to the first floor.

First floor

On the first floor, The spaces would be more vibrant and decorative than the lower floors. the performance spaces are a series of columns that allow walls to be slid and put in place, this allows even more flexibility and personalisation to the buskers, from their choice of materiality. The public would decide if the buskers get to make it to the show.
