Text: And alright, I’ll give you that one. I mean I do sketch my paintings but I didn’t plan on showing you them all, just the final result so no worries.

“You seem to be of the opinion that the views of a disobedient slave matter.  You’re quite mistaken,” Lucas said with a snort as he took her outside and shoved her into his car, buckling her in and closing the door.  As he got the car started and pulled out, he turned to her and said, “What is sad is a slave who thinks she shouldn’t have to work for the free and might I add expensive education she’s getting.  Sad and lazy.”

Keira couldn't help but frown. She felt like talking to a wall, not quite getting how she could think so nicely of him at first. “Maybe I'd be  more likely to work for it if you weren’t be so insulting. All I can say is that I'm very glad not to be your friend”, she told him, hoping they could stop being so vulgar with each other with that. She figured it was best to ignore him for the rest of the ride and perhaps a little longer, defiantly looking out of the window as he drove to his place. Likely every other word would further encourage him to get creative with her.

“The right term is Nephilim…” He said sitting down next to her and smiling. “It’s a negative term. We are all considered bastards. Most angels, especially the ones who are warriors, like to think they have the right to kill us. That’s why it was not a misunderstanding. My father had his quickie than abandoned my mother who thought… perhaps… that she was bearing something angelic and heavenly, but was trapped with me. So I grew up in an orphanage full of nuns and yes.. they are awful as they look.” He said with another chuckle. “But no more teary story…. tell me about you…” 

“Nephilim”, Keira repeated thoughtfully. “Never heard of it, to be honest, but it didn't sound that negative until you said it. In fact, it really sounds terrible” A frown escaped her lips, eyes scanning over him in worry. She sure wouldn't have wanted to be in his skin, angel or not, Nephilim or not. “But they haven't and I guess that speaks for you, huh?”, Keira eventually encouraged with a smile before nodding. “Umm.. My family is pretty normal compared to that. They like to pretend they're really rich and polite and stuff but that's about it. I mean it's tough and I don't get it, we used to have dinner parties every month with people even more uptight than them and I feel like a fine brit with the manners and words I've learned there but I'm not complaining. There's worse, right?”

“Is your schedule usually busy?”  Naomi found the girl to be a little too plain to foresee her being much in demand from the Masters and Mistresses of the island, though none of those bitchy thoughts showed in her carefully open and fake-honest face.  But the guard followed at the signal; at the very least, the slave could be of some use to her by giving a small tour.  If she could continue to show herself of use, then she might be safe.  Might.  “Really?  Are they all super serious and harsh?”  She put on a mocking stern face, wagging a finger like a bossy taskmistress might before letting out a burst of giggles that made the djinn want to vomit.

Keira's expression turned thoughtful for a moment. Well, she had a valid point. “Umm.. It depends. Classes can get a little stressful at times but it's alright. I'm currently not working so I guess I'm not as busy as other people for instance”, the girl offered with a smile. A chuckle escaped her lips at the faces Naomi made. To be fair, being together with her for longer than a couple of hours would sure be exhausting but she liked that way better than all those grumps so she didn't comment. “Honestly, I just met one personally, Marco I believe is his name”, she started. “He looks all serious on the outside but I actually believe that he's nice at heart. Oh, and there's Morgana and she is kind of intimidating, much like her reputation but I'm sure you'll see yourself pretty soon. I just guess I would have heard it if they were as cheerful and chipper as you”

“Are you kidding me? The rush of the steal? Driving high speed with a car you don’t care about?” He narrowed his eyes as he looked her over. 

“Well what would you consider fun,” he spoke in a low voice as he moved closer to her.

“Well, we don't all need to be criminals to have fun“, Keira pointed out almost defiantly, silent for a moment as he turned the question back to her. Granted, she wasn't the typical fun type of person. She enjoyed a good book and music and all the allegedly plain and boring girl stuff. She knew already that he couldn't keep up with his idea of fun. “Well, I'm really passionate about art, painting to be exact“, she started slowly. “And I can cook.. And just hang out with friends..“ Eventually, she could come up with something that would actually impress him at least a little bit. Maybe. “Oh and I can mix drinks. The best drinks I mean“

“I don’t mind some company,” Heather smiled. “I was just looking for some climbing spots.”

“Nice to meet you”, Keira smiled before looking at her questioningly. “Climbing spots? Are you the sportsy type?”

He nodded. To be clear he pointed to his throat shaking his head and then his ear with a thumbs up. He knew it could be confusing to people. Was it an accident? No not an accident. What had happened was planned and executed with precision. But yeah, it had been terrible not that he ever let himself think about it or at least he tried not to. So he just shrugged and then smiled. It’s ok. I’m ok. He nodded picturing what watercolor looked like, but a bit less clear about what a chalk picture would look like. He had to chuckle a bit at the thought of him being an artist though the truth was he’d never really tried. No. I skate ; ) A true and honest thought bubbled up as he was typing and he found himself including it. My mom was a sculptor. Talking about her brought a punch of pain to his gut, but he pushed it aside and smiled. R u a professor? She seemed young to be, but he was quickly realizing that on this island he had to leave all of his preconceptions aside. 

Despite his reassuring attitude, Keira furrowed her brows in slight worry, not enough to come off as rude but still clear to be seen. „I'm so sorry, though, Tommy..“, she whispered with a hint of uncertainty, very unaware that this was just a part of something bigger. He seemed like a nice guy to her, someone who sure didn't deserve that fate but what was done is done. Trying to cheer him up, her lips then formed a smile. „That's cool! Both I mean.. Though I'm not really the active type I admit. At least it doesn't mean you're competition“, the blonde teased, winking as she read the next message. A professor? Her fingers inevitably moved towards her collar, shaking her head in a puzzled manner, though she couldn't really help but feel flattered that he would think so. „No, not at all. I'm actually a grant, majoring in art history and taking every other art class this place has to offer – call me crazy there“

I liked it actually.” He replied offering her his hand to give a tour of his house until they reached the couch where he let her sit. “You have no idea of how much of a strange odd mixture I am… Let me… give you… a clue.” He said, as he poured one glass of wine for her and one of whiskey for himself. “My mother was a young and promising heiress of the high society of New York. My father….” He stopped for  a moment handing her a glass. “Was an angel who decided to descend in the carnal sins of humans.. And when I was created they both decided to forget about my existence..” 

”Honestly, no.. I wasn't expecting this. I'm not saying that I'm against it, just didn't see it coming since we barely know each other“, Keira smiled before blushing a little at his description of her. “So you like innocence?“, she, however, dared to tease, offering him a small wink before sitting down, curiously listening to his story. “Soo.. You're angelic?“, the girl tried to conclude after a moment of silence in which she tried to put it all together. „I didn't know that was possible. It is crazy.. The good kind, of course. I like you and I'm sorry about your parents.. Maybe it's just a huge misunderstanding?“

Lucas snorted.  “I don’t care who you’re often with, I meant now as in this moment.  In this moment, you’re with me,” he reiterated.  “A slave disobeying a master is the height of rudeness.  You would be handled more gently if you weren’t so rude and disobedient.”

Keira furrowed her brows. Fair enough. “And here I thought I wouldn’t have that problem”, the girl pointed out, slight hint of mock gracing her voice as she mimicked his earlier statement. She wasn’t at all used to being called disobedient and was even less treated like an actual slave. Funny how she first thought she could change his mind. “But fine, is this all you ever think about, though? How to treat the slaves, whom to fuck next.. Sounds kinda, y’know..” She hesitated a moment, trying to find the right word that would neither annoy him nor decrease the meaning of what she wanted to say. “..sad.”
