How do wolves move
After years and years of intensive researching and studying we came to the conclusion that wolves themselves seem to not really know either
“FEAR ME for I am a FEROCIOUS BEAST! BOW DOWN TO ME, MORTAL!” But the mortal did not hear him. Instead she paused for a moment, looking around in confusion as her eyes were searching for the origin of the tiny squeaks. They seemed to be coming from the Dandelions she was inspecting with her camera. Strange. Very tiny, almost angrily sounding squeaks. Kind of like those of a Desert Rain Frog that everyone had seen on BBC…
Yes HELLO you were all asking me to show the tiny dragon hiding in the Dandelion I posted a few weeks ago and HERE HE IS! The GOLDEN SNAPTOOTH or you can just call him a Dandelion Dragon because that’s basically what he is but I like to give my dragon species a second “commonly known” name, just like in Germany Dandelions are known under countless of different names in the vernacular, haha…
I came up with the concept back in April 2017 (the first sketch of him is the bottom-one of the first picture), a few months before I published my first Gardendragon book! But I had to scrap him because there wasn’t enough time to fully develop him and add him to the finished bunch…but I didn’t forget about him! NOW is his time to shine! :D At least on social media for now. Hope I get to include him in a future novel one day!

“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but fuck that. Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones. Every black person in here remembered when another person reminded you that you were black. So none of you out there, all those protesters on the other side, protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, burn you, this is so vital. I need you to understand how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn’t the case anymore, that was never the case anymore.” John Boyega at The Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park June 3rd 2020
I drew this a while ago for my husband when he was feeling down. If you’ve been having a hard time, I hope it gets better soon. You’re not alone. Sending pidgey hugs

Lots of love and well wishes to you all.
To be honest the work that has been done to tweak a gene so that American chestnuts can process oxalic acid and therefore resist Chestnut Blight is one of the greatest works of bioengineering in the service of conservation out there, and it’s tragic that more people don’t know about it.
The American chestnut was a pivotal species in the Eastern USA and we almost lost it completely, but now there’s hope that it can return to its rightful ecological niche and prosper again.
Wait, that’s a thing? We’re currently having problems with chestnut blight in Corsica, and chestnuts actually used to be a staple food, so I really need to look into this.
Used to be here in the USA too!
And yes. The field trials are currently taking place, but everything looks good and they hope to have trees cleared by regulatory agencies and available to the public within 5 years. Ambitious planting projects are planned to help get the trees out to the public to be replanted in its old native range once it is cleared and available.
Sadly, some folks are protesting on the basis of “GMO BAD”
https://www.esf.edu/chestnut/
For additional context.. the American Chestnut Foundation has spent something like 40 years trying to accomplish this through traditional breeding programs, by continually backcrossing. They have trees with 97% American genetics (whereas the biotech ones are 99.9% American genetics)) BUT here’s the catch - the traditionally bred trees suck. They are not strong, they are not healthy. We have friends who have planted them out who are very disappointed.
One of the things that they’re finding in test plots is that deer fucking love American chestnuts (which are apparently tastier than the Chinese Chestnuts, many of which have been planted in this area). The deer will eat American Chestnuts instead of Tulip Poplars or Red Maples. Deer populations are pretty high right now so even if there’s a massive Chestnut replanting efforts - bigger than the ones going on currently - how well they succeed depend on a lot of factors actually, factors such as Phytophthora and ambrosia beetles and deer.
Chestnut trees are pretty interesting. We have discovered some original ones on our property that survived all the logging here and all the pests, but they only get to about 4′ and resemble a shrub. They never get large enough to produce any nuts.
We’re excited for the biotech ones too. Chestnuts as a food crop are kind of a PITA though, they don’t last long and they get nut borers which eat the nuts from the inside out. A great way to get maggots in your food. They have to be treated like fresh produce.
They are, by all accounts though, an excellent tree for supporting wildlife.
A bat hanging in a Chestnut Tree! Here’s an interesting website for more info.
