Arden tipped her head and smiled. Sure it wasnât accepting the whole world, but heâd accepted the idea that someone else was important too. Maybe sheâd judged him too harshly, she barely knew him! He was probably exaggerating everything else anyway, overcompensation for something. âIâll flatter myself all I want to, thank you very much.â She wiggled her shoulders, never lacking in outward confidence. âLove it. Letâs do this.â She booked her bag on her shoulder and strolled towards the door, keeping her face calm and cool as she went through the security and smiled when it didnât go off.
Kellan rolled his eyes but held his tongue. He had come to realize that sometimes he had to sacrifice acting impulsively to get what he wanted. Trying to retort wouldnât be missing out on torturing people, so he just followed her. âWhere exactly are we going? There wonât be cops or people from the school, right?â he asked, not caring as much about the possibility of police, knowing that his magic could overtake them.
