“I still don’t exactly understand what all the dead stuff is about then, but candy and cartoons sounds kind of fun.”

“It’s just an excuse to get dressed up and pretend to be something different for a night. Oh, and FREE CANDY!”
“Yeah? I sorta thought it had something to do with evil demons or hell.”
“I still don’t really get what Halloween is so, no, I don’t celebrate it.”

“Then what were you laughing at? Why would I assume the best of people, when they never live up to that?”
“Maybe you don’t have to assume the best just because you’re not assuming the worst.” Stacy shrugged, looking away from the boy before her. “I saw someone with a guy I know tattooed on her leg and I thought it was funny”
kellan--jones:
“Maybe don’t laugh at me then, if I’m that intense.”
“Again, I wasn’t laughing at you. Maybe you shouldn’t assume the worst of people.”
kellan--jones:
“Yeah, I know you’re not laughing at me, because if you were, you’d be dead by now.”
“Oh. Wow, you’re intense.”
sleazyhook:
“But there are so many bloody rules here!”
“Yeah, I sense that about this place. Small community and all that. Wonder if I’ll run into some of the beautiful dames I saw when arriving; hope so!”
“Not that many, really and at least the rules are the same for everyone.”
“I doubt you’ll have trouble finding beautiful girls here. The school is filled with them.”

“Pretty smart of them to stick them all in one place then, huh?”
“Yeah, she’s at, er…” he scratched behind his ear absently. “Brian Dorm or something?”
“Not everyone around here has to break rules just to have fun, Hook.”
“Briar.” shrugging, stacy tried to make it seem like it wasn’t a big deal, “But like I said, I’ll run into her before too long. You run into everyone eventually here.”
sleazyhook:
“I guess we’ll have to see how it goes then, eh?”
“And yeah, she’s along for the ride too. I dropped her off at her dorm earlier.”
“Not sure how well they tolerate rule breakers, just so you know.”
“Then I’m sure I’ll run into her at some point.”
sleazyhook:
“I didn’t exactly have too much favor with my dad to begin with, so when they offered to take me away…well, there wasn’t much of a fight put up there.”
“And I’ve only just arrived; might as well see how it is. If you’re still here, it must not be so bad.”
“I like this place. Living here has its advantages.”
“So... is your sister around too?”

“Yeah, there’s no doubt about that!”
“Yeah... So how’d they drag you here? And how come you haven’t hightailed it out of here yet?”
sleazyhook:
“Well that’s embarrassing.”
“I don’t think Peter needs to have his ego stroked any more, but I feel like he’d be amused.”
“It’s so weird because it actually sorta looks like him.”
“Are you kidding he’d absolutely love it.”
sleazyhook:
“Oh yeah? Which girl?”
“Brunette that just went ‘round the corner. She had Peter on the back of her leg.”
sleazyhook:
“Oh, sure. Well you’re stuck at this school same as me.”
“That’s not funny, not as funny as the tattoo that girl had, at least.”
“No! I swear I'm not laughing at you.”

Stacy had spent the better part of her Sunday morning under the shade of a large tree between the dorm buildings and the office, sketch pad in her lap. As noon drew nearer, the sun was shining and warming the school grounds enough that she wouldn’t have needed her jacket, or the beanie pulled tightly over he ears, if only she hadn’t stubbornly decided to stay planted where she was against the trunk of the old tree. There was good people watching and while she was not drawing people she liked the inspiration they often would offer without even fully realizing she was there.
A group of girls dressed only in their swimsuits and likely heading to the lake had her scribbling furiously in an effort to capture the shoreline- until the doodle started to look more like Neverland to her and quickly lost her interest. When she looked back up to wait for another idea, a blonde stopped on the sidewalk not far off caught her attention. Stacy watched her as she fussed with her bag, looking for something perhaps, and before she realized she had been staring much longer than was appropriate.
