“And he should be happy, but with you as you. That’s what a relationship is, committing to one person and resisting the temptation that anyone else brings because your time with your partner is better than whatever you’d get elsewhere.” She pursed her lips, stepped off her swing and came round to kneel in front of her. “Tibby you’re bleeding!” She exclaimed suddenly, reaching up to wipe under her nose with a conjured wetwipe. “Tibby, look at what this is doing to you. You are more than enough as you are, and just because you have magic doesn’t mean that he gets a free pass to be a dirtbag. No one else in the world is getting that, so why does he need it? He doesn’t. You’re worth so much more than just being his manic pixie dream girl. If he doesn’t stick around for you as you are, then he doesn’t deserve you.”
Jones let her friend clean her up, shoulders slumped, feeling ever so much like a child who’d gotten so much wrong. Her mother had warned her that the world was cruel and men were evil when she had left home, but she had hoped Gerard would be the exception. If Maleficent could see her now, she’d probably turn away in shame before going off and turning him into a crow. Everything Lena was saying made sense in some way, but she didn’t feel like she was enough. How could her friend even be saying that, when he had already cheated and showed her that she alone wasn’t enough? “Bigger magic comes with some costs,” she commented, focusing on the blood aspect, not ready to touch the other things Lena had said. “It doesn’t hurt me though, it’s--it’s okay,” she stammered, giving a sigh. Tibs couldn’t quite make herself look Lena in the eye; she felt that she had ruined the whole evening. They were supposed to be having fun, not...this. “I-I’ll talk with him. I suggested changing things up for him. It’s not like he asked,” she finally replied, sniffling and looking at her friend.
