project 4: research, composition, and layout

The final project focuses upon layout and composition, as well as research, and will teach principles in design, image, and text relationships. For this project, you are being asked to present to the class an influential designer of a certain historical era, as well as create an event and an item for this designer.

there are some mornings when the sky looks like a road there are some dragons who were built to have and hold and some machines are dropped from great heights, lovingly and some great bellies ache with many bumblebees (and they sting so terribly) i do as i please, now i'm on my knees your skin is something that i stir into my tea and i am watching you and you are starry, starry, starry and i'm tumbling down, and i check a frown well just look around, it's why i love this town just see me serenaded hourly! celebrated sourly! dedicated dourly waltzing with the open sea clam, crab, cockle, cowrie oh, will you just look at me?

Project 2: Line & Figure/Ground

The second project will be an exploration into dimension, form, and pattern, focusing mainly on figure ground.

You will be working with 8x8 inches squares of Bristol paper and black construction paper. You will have a total of 30 squares. The black paper will be cut into strips(only strips, no squares curves circles or ellipses) and applied to the surface of the white, creating many different compositions.

You will explore three different areas— dimension, form, and pattern— with a minimum of 7 squares in each area. You can arrange the squares in any fashion, and it is encouraged to have a theme or concept.
